Update 2.33.0.105
Aircraft
Display of vehicles at a distance
Targeting pods and optics for high-ranked aircraft help to see ground targets and give the ability to launch at ranges that are comparable to the engagement ranges of SAMs. However, due to a bug in applying angular target sizes to the detection range through targeting optics, these ranges were noticeably smaller than they should have been for small targets. For example, for smaller vehicles such as the Swedish Lvrbv 701, the maximum range at which it could be detected in the targeting pod was about 8 km. After fixing this bug, its detection range will be over 20 km instead, and for larger targets even more.
 • A bug with the incorrect display of vehicles at long ranges when using targeting optics for aircraft has been fixed.
 • A bug where looking through targeting optics, such as target designation pods, enemy markers could be detected at distances exceeding the enemy marker detection capabilities and crew skills has been fixed.
Other aircraft fixes
• A bug where the Prandtl-Glauert effect was not visible to other players has been fixed.
 • F-16C, Barak II — incorrect heading display on the HUD compass in the cockpit has been fixed.
Ground Vehicles
• KPz-70, MBT-70 — a bug that caused the autocannon’s aim to raise in a specific area of fire has been fixed. (Report 1) (Report 2)
 • A bug during air events in Ground Arcade battles that caused the outlines of allied vehicles to be visible to players who were in an aircraft has been fixed.
Naval Vessels
• A bug that caused sea mines to sink when coming into contact with allies has been fixed.
Other fixes
• A bug that could cause repaired vehicles to remain crew locked has been fixed.

The Dragon Box

The Dragon, a symbol of the New Year, has prepared a magical box for you that contains artifacts from the past. Items that were previously available in the Chronicles of World War II, Pages of History, World War Mode and May events, as well as from War Thunder’s birthdays are waiting for you in this box!
The “Dragon Box” can be purchased from the in-game Item Shop for Silver Lions from February 1st (11:00 GMT) until February 28th (11:00 GMT). It doesn’t require a key and can only be purchased by players who have bought at least one researchable vehicle at Rank II or higher on their account.

What’s in the box?
The “Dragon Box” contains vehicles and camouflages, decals and decorations, player icons and loading screens, as well as useful consumable items: boosters, universal backups, wagers and orders. Some items from past events are appearing as coupons for the first time, and you’ll be able to trade them on the Market!

60,000 Silver Lions is what the “Dragon Box” costs. On February 28th at 11:00 GMT, all Dragon Boxes will disappear from your inventory, so be sure to open them before then!

Fair Play: January 2024 and CAPTCHA

We’ve been fighting accounts that use bots for a long time, and we’re sure that active players have noticed the result as we’ve managed to significantly reduce the number of bots in all modes. We also continue to identify violators who use prohibited modifications, and today the number of blocked accounts is impressive.
Banned accounts
Over the last month, we’ve blocked 9,569 accounts that were found to be in violation of the rules. Specifically 3.2.3 of the EULA namely in the automation of gameplay (using bots) and cheat software.

For full transparency, we’re publishing the full list of these blocked players. This list will be available for two weeks starting from the publication of this article.
Player behavior analysis system and CAPTCHA for suspicious players
Over the past few months, we’ve been particularly focused on combating accounts that use automated gameplay, or bots as they’re normally called. Improved analysis methods that learn from player behavior allow us to effectively identify any offenders. Your complaints also play a key role in this process, as they help us quickly respond to new bot practices and provide a fair gaming experience for everyone.

We strive to ensure that every decision we make is fair and reasonable. Understanding that there are accounts that may seem suspicious, we’ve introduced new CAPTCHA functionality. Accounts that the system suspects of using bots will be periodically subject to automatic verification using CAPTCHA, and if your account is under suspicion don’t worry — just complete the CAPTCHA to continue playing. The CAPTCHA will be displayed to suspected players before the battle, which in turn will help further reduce the number of bots in the game.

In obvious cases by analyzing a player’s behavior when completing the CAPTCHA, the system will be able to automatically block a violator’s account. At the same time, we’re making every effort to avoid false positives in the system. This is an additional step in ensuring the integrity of all War Thunder battles.
What we recommend
We recommend that you set a strong password for your account and enable two-step authentication in your profile. This will help protect your account from fraudsters. And remember, don’t use forbidden client modifications and never share your account information with anyone!
