Possible problems with Steam nicknames

Dear players!

Not long ago we implemented Unicode nickname support in the game, while new Steam players now immediately get nicknames similar to their Steam nicks with some limitations.

During some technical work on standardizing the existing nickname display, we gained a malfunction leading to the reset of nicknames with some Steam players to nicknames based on their Steam nick.

This issue might also affect some of the Gaijin-accounts already linked to a Steam profile.

We didn't plan to change the nicknames of Steam players who previously changed their in-game Nickname and within 24 hours we will try and roll back these changes for all players in order to return the nicknames or provide the opportunity to change the nickname for free.

We apologize for any inconvenience. We will do our best to fix this problem as soon as possible!

Update 2.27.1.24

  • A bug that caused Steam-based launchers to set the Client parameter to “Full Ultra HQ” even if the user has not marked for download or has disabled any corresponding DLCs has been fixed.

The current provided changelog reflects the major changes within the game as part of this Update. Some updates, additions and fixes may not be listed in the provided notes. War Thunder is constantly improving and specific fixes may be implemented without the client being updated.

The Israeli A-4E is Back for the Anniversary of Its Maiden Flight

On July 12th, 1961 A-4E, a highly modernized version of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk carrier-capable light attack aircraft, took to the skies for the first time. The A-4E boasts a new, more powerful engine, tactical air navigation system, strengthened airframe with additional weapon pylons, toss-bombing computer, and low-altitude bombing system. Around 500 units were produced, and their number one importer was Israel.

The A-4E attack aircraft from the Israeli research tree will be available for purchase for Golden Eagles. A-4E isn’t the fastest aircraft of its rank, but it’s quite maneuverable and extremely versatile thanks to its amazing selection of suspended weaponry. It’s also equipped with two 30 mm DEFA 553 cannons — powerful and accurate, allowing for quick and comfortable victories over enemy aircraft. 50 mm of bulletproof glass will save the life of the pilot, while countermeasures and RWR will help survive missile attacks.

Update 2.27.1.21

  • The fuze delay for HE shells for the 20mm AN/M2, M3 and Type 99 Model 1 cannons has been reduced.
  • A bug that caused countermeasures to be selectable in the aircraft protection analysis display has been fixed (report).
  • A bug where a pilot might leave a damaged aircraft on the airfield or aircraft carrier when manipulating engine thrust even though repair was available has been fixed.

Ground vehicles
  • A bug where the crew can report a scouted target nearby even though the enemy had not yet been detected has been fixed.

Graphics and interface
  • A bug that caused a horizontal line to appear on the screen after switching from high to low resolution (from 1920x1080 to 1600x900) has been fixed.
  • A bug where a rejected request to add friends might appear at every game client launch has been fixed.

Atomic Thunder
  • A bug that might cause a fire effect to remain in the air after the destruction of Hawk has been fixed.
  • A bug that might cause server crashes and early session termination during the initial stages of the event has been fixed.
  • The volume of the events background music now depends on the position of the music volume slider in the audio settings.
