Project “Overpowered”

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Good military vehicles aren’t only about their characteristics: they also need to be cheap to produce, easy to repair and open to serious upgrading. A perfect example of such a machine is the legendary Po-2 light bomber. This all-round great aircraft earned the love and respect of pilots 95 years ago, and now it has become famous among War Thunder players for its phenomenal capabilities when controlled by an experienced pilot. What a surprising coincidence it is, then, that Po-2 was chosen by the Organization as a platform for upgrades in Project “Overpowered”.

Create an “Overpowered” version of one of the most amazing aircraft in the game, use it as intended, and then exchange it for exclusive vehicles of different classes. A worthy aircraft deserves worthy rewards.

It’s fixed! №63

In this digest we would like to tell you about our continuing work on improvements and fixes in the game. You can find information about all updates that have been released in War Thunder on the website special section.
Please feel free to leave your feedback on these changes in the dedicated "It’s fixed! №63" thread
The full picture!

It is hard to know in advance what gear and what monitor resolution a player will use. Some prefer the widest screens available, others use three monitor rigs. In such cases, some of the War Thunder vehicles might not fit in the screen while observing in the hangar.

We moved the camera in the hangar a bit farther away to make sure you have the full view of your steel machines of war no matter how wide your display setup is!

Drag chute fixed

Many jet aircraft in the game have a drag chute that automatically deploys on landing and helps to decelerate the aircraft while braking. But, due to a bug, they didn’t work automatically for all the time! You had to enable it manually or pray for a soft landing. The bug is found and buzzed, drag chutes should work automatically now.

“Stingers” under cover

Some SPAAG vehicles, armed with the FIM-92 Stinger air defence system, such as Machbet or Ozelot, were spoiling for a fight so much that they fired the missile with the launcher tube attached. We do appreciate such zeal, but “Stingers'' would perform better alone.

Launchers are now fixed and welded to the hull, missiles may do their job confidently.

Project “Overpowered”: Po-2M

The most infamous plane in the game gets a nice set of floats! Meet the new image for the legendary biplane. Is the Po-2 still 2 OP?
Po-2M, light bomber, USSR, rank I. Premium.
Features:
 • Very low speed and climb rate
 • Lacks forward guns
 • Poor turret
 • Perfect agility
 • Incendiary bombs

The Po-2 is a legendary aircraft in War Thunder. Some time ago we had to take it out of the tech tree due to its extremely low speed (just slightly over 130 km/h!) and the lack of forward weapons, which made it a very easy target in the hands of a beginner. At the same time, during game events that allow you to get this biplane, many experienced players eagerly try to get it into their collection. Why? Firstly, this is the best trolling plane ever - there is nothing more delightful than to fly the Po-2 in high-rank battles and destroy a couple of modern tanks, accurately throwing small 50-kg bombs on the turret, or shoot down a jet fighter with a single rifle-caliber turret. Secondly, the Po-2 is truly great for mastering more advanced types of aircraft control - with the help of a “mouse joystick” or a full-fledged joystick and a pilot's head position tracker. Thirdly, the Po-2 is a truly valuable collectible aircraft with its own history; the famous “night witches”, the WWII Soviet female pilots, fought on these fragile and slow flying biplane bombers.

In the autumn crafting event Project "Overpowered" we present a new modification of the aircraft - the hydroplane Po-2M, a premium light bomber from the USSR tech tree, rank I. So, a few words about what is good and what is bad with a new iteration of Po-2.

On the one hand, the Po-2M is ridiculously bad - it is still the slowest aircraft in the game, it has no forward weapons, and the biplane’s only protection is a single rifle-caliber turret. The Po-2M is very susceptible to any damage, even small bullets and shrapnel adversely affects its flight performance. The floats make landing on an airfield a significant challenge, and usually lead to an accident.

On the other hand, the Po-2M is ridiculously good! The snail-slow airplane has amazing maneuverability, and its maximum speed is below the stall speed of any fighter. This is a bomber-class aircraft, with air respawn and a bombsight. Because of the float, there is no central pylon, but the load remains very, very decent for a rank I light bomber: up to 200 kg of bombs in 50 and 100 kg, 8x82 or 8x132 mm rockets, as well as 4x50 kg of incendiary bombs, which are very relevant in low rank battles.

Is Po-2M 2 OP? Depends on the hands that pilot it! We are sure that this premium biplane will give you a lot of satisfying frags, both on the ground and in the air, and hey, it's a fun aircraft too.

Project “O███po█████”: strike jet aircraft Jaguar E

The main aircraft prize in the upcoming autumn crafting event is the Jaguar E, a French-British two-seat jet aircraft, designed to train Jaguar pilots for the French Air Forces.
Jaguar E, strike aircraft, France, rank VI. Event vehicle.
Features:
 • Decent climb rate
 • Maneuverability is heavily dependent on the payload
 • Deadly weapons
 • Ballistic calculator
 • Lacks RWS

The two-seater Jaguar E is coming to the game as one of the main prizes in the autumn crafting event that starts in War Thunder soon. This is an event rank VI strike aircraft and one of the best French aircraft in its class. Good flight capabilities for an attack aircraft, compact size, huge payload and excellent weapons - this is what the Jaguar E will become in the game. Let's see this beauty in detail.

The Jaguar E is a cousin of the Jaguar A jet attack aircraft, already known and loved by War Thunder pilots. This might not be the easiest aircraft to play, but in the hands of a skilled pilot it is a real death scythe against ground targets, which is also capable of engaging short air duels even with top-tier fighters. The new Jaguar E attack aircraft differs from the researchable version in an enlarged canopy with a second cockpit, as well as the absence of a radar warning system. In addition, the aircraft cannot carry flares, however, you may still use a suspended dipole pod.

General flight performance remained the same. At high altitudes, the attack aircraft is capable of accelerating to speeds over 1400 km/h, but its usual operating mode is subsonic speeds at low and medium heights. The aircraft maneuvers surprisingly well, especially at high speeds, and thanks to its small wings area it has excellent roll rate. However, the small wings significantly complicates its controllability with a large payload on board.

The Jaguar E's main armament is a pair of DEFA 553 rapid-fire cannons, with 150 rounds per barrel. The aircraft can take both unguided and guided weapons of different kinds. In the ‘bomb truck’ setup the Jaguar E can carry up to 11x250 kg or as many as 8x400 kg bombs. Ballistic calculator helps to put every bomb directly on target. In addition to the familiar SNEB rockets, the Jaguar E is the second aircraft in the game that is armed with ECC rockets with a shape-charged warhead, and exotic TBA Multi-Dart, containing 6 armor-piercing kinetic darts capable of effectively hitting any armored vehicle from above. After researching the ATLIS II targeting pod, pilots will have access to modifications to unlock the 400 and 1,000 kg guided bombs, as well as AS-30L Nord guided missiles. For aerial duels, the Jaguar E can take a pair of slick Matra R550 Magic 1 air-to-air missiles.

How to get yourself a very decent jet attack aircraft for free? Simple! Complete the tasks of the crafting events just by playing your regular battles, track your progress, and grab well-deserved prizes! Tomorrow we will tell you about the most mysterious prize of this autumn, and a little later we will announce the full rule list for the upcoming event - don't miss it! Snail out.
