Japanese Constitution Day

On May 3rd, 1947, the Constitution of Japan entered into force to declare the state’s status as democratic and pacifist. Lawmakers did their job brilliantly - there were no amendments to the Constitution for the whole 75 years of its existence!

Get a closer look at some of the strongest teams making it to the final matches of the tournament.
REDA
A Spanish speaking team that emerged in 2018 and quickly established itself as a strong contender to win. REDA considers high ping to be their main opponent, but they are helped by the “power of love” to overcome it. With its help the team took first place in the Thunder Front 2021 tournament.
Team YEET
Friends who have known each other since 2018 and have been participating in tournaments for a long time found new players and in early 2021 founded Teah YEET with the goal of becoming the top German speaking team in War Thunder. Under the leadership of the “duelist diva” Sturmibelle the team won a number of weekly tournaments and is ready for great accomplishments.
OlySt Team
The team of friends from France has grown over the years into a large community with streamers, an eSport team and their own tournament that has been created for the second year in a row. The OlySt Team regularly ranks amongst the winners of War Thunder championships and enjoys a well deserved reputation.
kompans
This squadron of fighters from central and eastern Europe assembled before the Grand Final II 2019 and has quickly become one of the leaders among esport teams in War Thunder. Team captain “KrawsKeren” hasn't let his feet haven't touch the ground since 2013, and all these 9 years, judging by his results, he hasn’t let go of the helm.
WhiteBears
A predominantly Russian speaking team created in February of 2020. The dark horse of the OlySt CUP II tournament. Who knows what to expect from them? Especially taking into consideration that right before this year’s event WhiteBears joined Wexfon - the tanker from the OlySt team.
Mystic
A relatively new team made up of veterans from various championships. Its founders were ranked 7-9 in tournaments with Pewpewguys and now, having strengthened the roster with experienced new recruits, are aiming for fifth place. Modesty itself!
LEET
The Russian speaking “Elite” is fighting for championship titles since 2019 and not without success. “Smoke Knight” VoLKoDaV and his team won first place at Victory Cup 2021 and they are not going to stop there.
EnyoProxy (ENP)
Favorites for the current championship were experienced eSporters back when the team was formed in 2016. Since then, ENP has won one victory after another: The Victory Cup 2020, Redragon 5x5, the ESR Cup, Defender 5х5 and of course in OlySt CUP. However in the small final ENP lost to MRCLS and dropped to the bottom grid of the tournament. They still have a chance to regain the lead - can they repeat last year’s success?
Miracles (MRCLS)
A young team that underwent considerable changes during the last couple of years of its existence. Their current squad was completed only last Autumn but has already established itself as one of the strongest squadrons of TSS. At registration most of the teams on the list bet that MRCLS would win OlySt CUP II tournament and so far that prediction looks like it may come true. MRCLS advanced to the big finals and will face the winners of the bottom grid on 1st of May at 19:08 GMT. Don’t miss the culmination of the OlySt CUP II tournament!
May 1st — May 4th

Battle of the Coral Sea
One of the most important battles in the history of naval warfare occurred in early May of 1942. The Battle of the Coral Sea was the first air-naval battle in history, as none of the carriers fired at each other. As a result, Japan had sunk more ships, but the Allies managed to halt a major Japanese offensive for the first time in World War II.
May 4th — May 7th

P-47 first flight
The P-47 Thunderbolt fighter first took flight on May 6th, 1941. Nicknamed "Jug" for its appearance, it was one of the heaviest and most powerful aircraft of the World War II era. The P-47 was successful in both air combat and ground assault; it was widely used in European and Pacific theaters of World War II and also by the USSR through the lend-lease program.
May 7th — May 10th

The end of the Great Patriotic War
Victory! The Red Army repelled the Axis powers for four long years: it defended Moscow, took back Stalingrad, reclaimed the initiative at Kursk, and then kicked the invaders out and chased them all the way to Berlin. The German Instrument of Surrender marked the end of the Great Patriotic War — the hardest in the entire history of the USSR and Russia.
May 10th — May 13th

Operation Diadem
To Rome! Beginning in early 1944, the Allies had tried to breach the Gustav Line whilst taking heavy casualties. The fourth attempt, called Operation Diadem, began May 11th and turned out to be successful, opening the path towards the capital of Italy.
May 13th — May 16th

The end of the Tunisian campaign
The North African campaign that lasted for almost three years had been put to an end in Tunisia. By May 13th, 1943 over 200,000 German and Italian soldiers had surrendered to the Allied forces, allowing them to turn to Sicily and later continental Italy.
May 18th — May 21st

Creation of the North Caucasian Front
The North Caucasian Front was created by the USSR on May 20th, 1942 to defend The Azov and Black sea coastlines. Led by Marshal Semyon Budenny, the North Caucasian Front was fought in the Stavropol and Krasnodar regions, stopping the invading forces from crossing the Caucasus mountain range.
May 22nd — May 25th

Battle of Boulogne
During the Battle for France, German forces surrounded the Allies in the town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, forcing them to defend themselves. Poor communication between the Allies led to a large number of British troops evacuating by sea, abandoning the Welsh Guards and surprising the French. Nevertheless, the defense of Boulogne had delayed the German advance towards Dunkirk, where the mass evacuation of Allied troops took place.
May 27th — May 30th

Bf 109 first flight
The Messerschmitt Bf 109, a legendary fighter aircraft, took to the air for the first time on May 28th, 1935. It soon became the most mass-produced German aircraft. It was used by numerous aces of World War II: from Günther Rall to Erich Hartmann, the most successful fighter ace in history. Even with the advent of jet aircraft, the Bf 109 remained popular: the Spanish Air Force continued to use it until late in 1965.
