[Development] SIDAM 25 Mistral: Blowing Away the Competition

During the mid 1990s, the Italian military started a modernization program for the SIDAM 25 SPAA, which allowed the vehicle to carry surface-to-air missiles. Coming soon as part of the upcoming update 1.91, the new SIDAM 25 Mistral will become the first SAM-equipped SPAA available to Italian tankers in War Thunder!

The SIDAM 25 Mistral will come to War Thunder as part of the upcoming update 1.91 and will be the first SPAA vehicle fitted with SAMs available to Italian tankers in the game. Much like the 2S6 Tunguska, already familiar to players, the SIDAM 25 will offer tankers a mobile anti-air platform which combines both conventional gun armament with an effective missile system.

All in all, the new SIDAM 25 Mistral will offer fans of Italian ground vehicles an improved version of an already familiar SPAA platform that comes with its own unique set of advantages and disadvantages, which tankers will have to successfully master in order to get the most out of this vehicle.

This vehicle will be assigned to the top rank of the Italian ground forces tree.

[Development] Supermarine Swift: Banking on Success

The Supermarine Swift is a British jet fighter, developed in the early 1950s as a stopgap measure for the RAF’s lack of modern fighter aircraft at the time. In update 1.91, War Thunder pilots may look forward to the introduction of two modifications of the Swift, along with its final variant equipped with air-to-air missiles!

In the years following the end of WW2, Great Britain focused their efforts on rebuilding their nation from the devastation caused by the war as the British government didn’t consider a new war possible in the following ten years. Under these circumstances, developing new military technology wasn’t considered a priority in most cases.

The Supermarine Swift F.1 and F.7 are on their way to player hangars and will be available to all pilots at the fifth rank of the British aviation tree, with the release of the upcoming War Thunder update 1.91. Until then, stay tuned for further updates regarding the latest War Thunder developments. Clear skies, pilots!

[Development] Reggiane Re.2005: The Winged Archer

The Re.2005 is a late war Italian fighter design, highly praised for its excellent performance and often considered as one of the best axis fighters of WWII. Despite only seeing limited production and service, the much anticipated Re.2005 Sagittario will soon become available to all pilots in War Thunder with the release of the upcoming update 1.91!

Development on the Re.2005 began in 1941, with the preliminary design work already being completed by the end of the year, despite the fact that the aircraft was a completely new design and independent of previous Reggiane projects. The Re.2005 was part of Italy’s Serie 5 fighter program, and like the competing G.55 and C.205, was meant to be fitted with the Daimler-Benz DB605 engine or its respective Italian licence-built version - the FIAT RA.1050 RC.58 Tifone.

Be sure to add the Re.2005 to your hangar as it becomes available to all pilots with the release of the upcoming update 1.91. In the meantime, make sure to stay tuned to the news to be kept in the loop about any further developments concerning the next major update coming to the game very soon. [Development] Eurocopter Tiger: Pouncing on the Prey

The Eurocopter Tiger is a modern day attack helicopter, which came to being through a joint Franco-German development project, starting back in the mid 1980s. Soon, the Tiger will become available to all French and German pilots with the release of update 1.91 and will be among the first rank VII helicopters coming to War Thunder!

Development on what would eventually become the Eurocopter EC665 began as early as 1984, following the issuing of a joint set of requirements by West Germany and France for a new type of multi-role combat helicopter. Although initial development was plagued by various political and economical problems leading to the effective cancellation of the project in 1986, unwavering interest in the development from both sides led to the relaunch of the project in November 1987.

Largely unaffected by the end of the Cold War in the early 1990s, development of the Eurocopter EC665 entered its final stages, with the first prototype conducting its maiden flight in April 1991. Following successful testing, the first orders for the EC665 were issued by both Germany and France in 1999. The first production model rolled off the assembly line in 2002, with subsequent units entering service in the coming years. To date, 135 Tigers have been produced with production still ongoing.

The Eurocopter Tiger is coming to player hangars with the release of the upcoming update 1.91 and will become one of the first rank VII helicopters to arrive in War Thunder. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to the news for all the latest developments regarding the next major update coming to the game. Until then, clear skies pilots!
