Vehicle History
The RAH-66 Comanche was an advanced stealth reconnaissance and attack helicopter developed by Boeing–Sikorsky for the U.S. Army during the late Cold War and post-Cold War era. Initiated in the early 1980s under the Light Helicopter Experimental (LHX) program, it aimed to replace aging scout helicopters like the OH-58 Kiowa. Designed with stealth features, advanced avionics, and fly-by-wire controls, the Comanche was intended to penetrate deep into enemy territory undetected. It reflected Cold War priorities of fighting a technologically advanced adversary, primarily the Soviet Union, in a conventional battlefield. However, with the collapse of the Soviet Union and shifting military needs, the program’s relevance declined as asymmetric warfare and counterinsurgency became the new prevalent concerns. The RAH-66 faced repeated delays and escalating costs, which played a key factor in the project’s ultimate cancellation.

By 2004, after producing two prototypes, the U.S. Army terminated the program to redirect funds toward upgrades of existing helicopters and unmanned systems, which were to fulfill the same purpose as the originally envisioned Comanche. Although the project never reached completion, the Comanche contributed valuable research know-how in stealth rotorcraft and systems integration.
Introducing the RAH-66 Comanche!
The RAH-66 Comanche is a unique light attack helicopter, incorporating several experimental technologies with the aim of decreasing the vehicle’s detection on a modern battlefield. Coming soon in the Leviathans major update, this futuristic-looking helicopter is available to pre-order starting today! Now, let’s take a look!

Visually speaking, the RAH-66 Comanche gives off the impression of a quick and highly agile helicopter. The vehicle not only owes this to its sleek design and use of lightweight composite materials, but also to its pair of T800 turboshaft engines, generating over 1,500 HP each. As a result, the Comanche can attain top speeds of over 200 mph (324 km/h), earning its place among War Thunder’s most nimble helicopters!

Although fast, the Comanche’s unchallenged ace up its sleeve remains its stealth capabilities. Thanks to the specific geometry, the Comanche is capable of alluding radar detection until it closes in much more to its target compared to conventional helicopters with the same size. Therefore, much like the F-117 Nighthawk, you’ll get the chance to deliver strikes much more precisely, while delaying or even avoiding detection by enemy radar altogether.

Interesting: At the time of its cancellation in 2004, the Comanche project had cost the U.S. Government over $6.9 billion.

Getting to the target is one thing, albeit an important one. But at least equally important is the question of what to take the target out with? For this, the Comanche has a selection of most proven American ordnance options, ranging from Hellfire and Stinger missiles to Hydra rocket pods. Additionally, you’ll always be able to rely on a nose-mounted 20 mm rotary cannon to strafe lightly armored ground vehicles or shoot down hostile helicopters in the area.

A unique feature of the Comanche, not found on other helicopters is its ability to stow away its payload in internally folding pylons. As these offer only a limited number of hardpoints, you can choose to further augment the helicopter’s payload by strapping on stub wings, enabling the Comanche to carry an increased number of suspended ordnance into combat.

The cutting-edge Comanche can be pre-ordered starting from today and will soon be making its way to reshape the combat dynamics on the battlefields of War Thunder after its arrival to the game as part of the Leviathans major update. That’s today’s devblog wrapped. Be sure to stay tuned to the news for more sneak peaks at the new additions awaiting you in the upcoming update. Until then, clear skies and happy hunting pilots!

Please note that this vehicle’s characteristics may be changed before it is added to the game.

June 6th, 1944. A day of heroic deeds from the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Celebrate the anniversary of the start of Operation Overlord with us, take part in ground battles and get decals honoring D-Day, a decoration and the American T86 prototype tank!
T86 — A Premium Light Tank for the USA at Rank III
In 1944, a prototype of the M18 was converted into a special amphibious variant in the United States. The hull and turret were modified to provide amphibious capabilities, with the size of the vehicle increasing significantly and the armor being reduced. What came from this was the T86, which retained good mobility and firepower. This conversion remained at testing only, but the experience gained from it was further used in attempts to create an amphibious fire support vehicle.

Among the rewards in the event is also this chest. When opened, there is a chance to receive one of the following items:
 • 50,000 - 100,000 Silver Lions
 • Silver Lion and Research Point boosters
 • Random Wagers and Orders
 • Universal Backups (1 - 3)
 • A random camouflage for a vehicle you own
 • 1 day of Premium Account
How to get all rewards
Each stage can be obtained for 35,000 mission points, where every new stage obtained will give you a new reward.

Please note: After finishing a stage, you need to collect the reward manually. To do this, click on your name in-game, go to “Normandy ‘44” and click the “Get Reward” button.

You’re able to earn mission points in Ground Battles at Rank III or above in Arcade, Realistic and Simulator Battles. The number of mission points to complete a stage depends on the game mode and the maximum Rank of the vehicle that you use in battle. There’s a multiplier for earning mission points, which is shown in the task description in-game.

You can also earn mission points by using event vehicles that are Rank I and II. Event vehicles that can be used have the name of the event that they were obtainable in on their stat card.
Stages change every two days at 11:00 GMT on June 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th.

Rewards are given when you complete a specific number of stages
• For 1 Stage: trophy with a random reward
 • For 2 Stages: one of the decal rewards
 • For 3 Stages: trophy with a random reward
 • For 4 Stages: one of the decal rewards
 • For 5 Stages: “Johnson machine gun” decoration
Discounts on purchasing stages using Golden Eagles
Unfinished stages can be purchased for Golden Eagles, but if you’re significantly close to completing a stage, its price will now be significantly reduced.

Let’s say you have earned 85% of the required mission points to complete a stage, then the price of purchasing this stage will be halved. If you’re near the finish line for a stage and are at 95% progress, then the price will be reduced by five times. For example, if you’ve scored 30,000 mission points, then the price for unlocking this stage will be 349 Golden Eagles. If you’ve scored 33,500 mission points, then you’ll only need to pay 139 Golden Eagles. Remember to keep this in mind if you cannot complete a stage on time!
The “Upgrade for coupon”
When you complete 6 stages, you’ll receive a non-tradable coupon for the T86, where using it will immediately activate the vehicle onto your account. If you don’t want the vehicle and would like to sell the coupon on the Market, you’ll need the “Upgrade for coupon” item.

The “Upgrade for coupon” item can be earned in parallel with the stages throughout the event from June 5th (11:00 GMT) until June 17th (11:00 GMT) for 500,000 mission points.

After receiving the “Upgrade for coupon” item, you can convert a non-tradable coupon for the vehicle into a tradable one and sell it on the Market. The tradable coupon can be sold after 6 days from the moment it’s created.

The “Upgrade for coupon” item is valid until June 20th (11:00 GMT). Until this time, you can use it or exchange it for War Bonds. Afterwards, it’ll disappear from your inventory.

To make a tradable coupon, select the “Coupon T86 (USA)” in your inventory and click the “Modify” button.

You can track the progress of completing stages and receiving the “Upgrade for coupon” by clicking on your Nickname > Achievements > Normandy ‘44. If you don’t manage to complete a stage on time or would like to purchase a stage, until June 20th from the Achievements window, you can purchase each stage with Golden Eagles which will give you the corresponding rewards.

A Decal and Discount on the T129 ATAK & F-104S TAF for Turkish Air Force Day!

The first air squadrons appeared in the Ottoman Empire on June 1st, 1911. This date is also celebrated in the Turkish Republic as Air Force Day. Under president Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish Air Force became one of the largest in Europe. They were modernized several times, which was facilitated by the country’s accession to NATO. Turkey was one of the five countries where F-16 fighters were produced.
50% discount on the T129 and & F-104S TAF!
Both the T129 (rank VI) attack helicopter and the F-104S TAF (rank VII) are available for 4635 Golden Eagles. The F104S TAF will remain available for purchase at full price after the end of this promotion!

When: From May 30th (11:00 GMT) until June 2nd (11:00 GMT).
Where: Italy > Helicopters / Aviation > Premium Vehicles.
About these aircraft
• The T129 is a modified version of the Italian A129 Mangusta, produced for the Turkish Air Force. The engines were replaced Turkish-made ones and the helicopter got access to Turkish L-UMTAS and CIRIT missiles instead of the Hellfire. The T129 can also take Stinger air-to-air missiles and FZ49 rockets into battle, and can always rely on the 20 mm TM197B cannon. Overall this helicopter can take out ground vehicles and aircraft.
 • The F-104S was purchased by Turkey from Italy in the 1960s and 70s. These aircraft are characterized by poor maneuverability but at the same time excellent rate of climb and acceleration. This aircraft is equipped with a ballistic computer, countermeasures, can take 250 to 2000 lb bombs into battle, and against aircraft can rely on the AIM-9P Sidewinder and AIM-7E Sparrow!
