Critter Café Mailbox - Game Team Update: January 2025

Hey there everyone 😊 Following the launch of Critter Café at the end of last year, the game team wanted to share a short article with you on our first post-launch update.

Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone for your support so far on Critter Café. It’s still incredible to see something that began life as a game jam prototype now available to the world, and enjoyed by many people. We’ve loved seeing your stories, journeys, and thoughts on the game, and look forward to seeing more!





We’re pleased to confirm that an update for Critter Café is planned to be released, simultaneously on Steam and Nintendo Switch, early this year. This update will focus on adding a handful of changes and options that our players have requested, either to improve the overall experience, or to further assist with accessibility. There will also be technical fixes to improve performance on all platforms and devices.

Further assistance and guidance will be added in some areas of the game, including with Bookings, how to complete certain challenges, and with selected puzzles that our community highlighted as particularly difficult. Critter behaviour in the café during ‘Open for Trade’ shifts is also an area we plan to address, aiming to make them more lively around customers, whilst ensuring they no longer impede the player’s movement around the café.

Also, we’re looking at adding toggle options for multiple actions that currently require the player to hold down a button or key, as well as more player choice for camera and cursor speed when customising spaces.





Work on this update is ongoing right now, and it’ll take a little time to finalise the changes and go through the required processes for updating on both Steam and Switch. Once everything is ready, we’ll share a confirmed release date, along with full patch notes.
