Update 3 - Live now!

[p][/p][h2]Main Changes:[/h2][h3]Gameplay:[/h3]
  • [p]Shopkeepers Realm - Instead of going directly to shop screen, now you teleport out of the dungeon into another realm, where right now you'll be able to access to shopkeeper and slot machines.[/p]
  • [p]Slot Machines - Now there's gambling in Hunchback's Dungeon, hell yeah! Gamble all of you coins for special rewards.[/p]
  • [p]Reworked Status Effects - Each one now does something different. Poison spreads, fire explodes, shock creates sparks and frost slows the enemies.[/p]
  • [p]Speed and Violence - The game is a lot more faster, co be careful. Enemies are more dangerous and harder to maneuver around.[/p]
  • [p]Cuts - I removed unnecesarry waiting screens between waves, loading times and all that. [/p]
  • [p]40 New Items - Almost of the new items have cool unique effects. I also reworked some of the old ones that were kinda... outdated.

    There are a lot new effects that sometimes spawn new entities or cause even a rain of gold, but I'll leave it for you to discover. I'll not include anything about them in the changelog.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]8 New Spells - Also reworked some of the old ones to take into account new content and status effects.[/p]
  • [p]3 New Characters.[/p]
  • [p]19 New Quests.[/p]
  • [p]New Enemies. I added a few enemies to add a new life to the waves. Few more will be added in a patch in a few days when I fix them :D[/p]
  • [p]Loot specific to shop, slot machines and chests - Some items will drop only from those. There are event cool legendary items that can only be found in chests or slot machines.[/p]
  • [p]More options in the shop - To take into account how many items there are now in the game, I made so that there will be 5 items/spells to choose from.[/p]
  • [p]Added breakable vases - who doesn't love those. There's a small chance for it to drop coins![/p]
  • [p]Rebalanced a few stats scaling.[/p]
  • [p]Luck now also works on slot machines.[/p]
  • [p]Reworked difficulty ramping up with each new difficulty and made sure you'll get more exp for playing on higher difficulties.[/p]
[p][/p][h3]Visual:[/h3]
  • [p]Visual Overhaul - Everything is juiced up to the max. I spent a ton of time making sure playing is a lot more satifying than before. It's no longer stiff and lifeless. More colors, animations, added almost all of the missing SFXs.[/p]
  • [p]Added CRT filter to the game. IMO it looks super cool and I love it. If you don't like it, you can always disable it in the options.[/p]
  • [p]Readability. Every tooltip, item or spell is easier to identify, read or understand what it does.[/p]
  • [p]Shop Visual Overhaul. Cool SFXs and animations, shopkeeper in the background. Everything looks cooler now.[/p]
  • [p]More vision. I reworked the line of sight shader, so that now not only it doesn't look as stiff, but you'll see a lot more.[/p]
  • [p]Added missing textures for some items and status effects.[/p]
  • [p]Added a slight glow for the player for easier visibility.[/p]
  • [p]Added glow to gold coins.[/p]
  • [p]Reworked all enemy bullets visual effects.[/p]
  • [p]Added visual effect for explosions.[/p]
[h3]Sound:[/h3]
  • [p]Added a slight reverb for all sound effects in the game.[/p]
  • [p]Added sound effects for enemy deaths.[/p]
  • [p]Added sound effects for status effects.[/p]
  • [p]Added sound effects for specific items that needed sound effects, but didn't have any.[/p]
[h3]Other:[/h3]
  • [p]Added borderless mode.[/p]
  • [p]Added confirmation window when you change to fullscreen, so that if you'll have a black screen when going fullscreen you'll revert back to windowed in a few seconds. (I'm still figuring out why some people get black screen)[/p]
  • [p]Added my friend who tests my games since forever to the credits.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed all the bugs and glitches that you've sent me. If I forgot about any, I'll fix that too soon.[/p]

Journey to a New Realm | Update 3 Tease

Hello!

What's going on with Hunchback's Dungeon, you may ask? I'm still working on the new update, I say! Tons of changes are coming, small and big. I know it is taking a long time, but I don't want to make mistakes. One thing from the previous post I completely removed is the packages of items that you would collect. I just couldn't make it work like I would like it to work.

New Realm

Previously, after each wave, a shop would automatically open no matter what. Now, after each wave, you'll be teleported to a new shopkeeper's "lobby" realm where you'll be able to play on slot machines, access the shop, or do something else. It creates new possibilities for evolving the game.

The slot machines are something new that I really like. They look really simple but have overly complex mechanics. There will be a few different types of rewards that you can get, the most common being gold.



Pace

The game is a lot more dynamic than before. Enemies move faster, you move faster, and there are no more loading screens or waiting for things to happen.



Readability

I spent quite a lot of time on the readability of items, descriptions, and text overall. I hope that now new players and old players will be able to tell what an item or spell does more easily.



Content

As of right now, there are nearly 50 new items coming in the new update, most of them having some sort of unique effect. I want players to be able to make builds based on a lot of combinations of stats and spells, and this will greatly improve that. This is one of the new items, which does damage based on knockback, like most of the explosion-based spells and items:



UI Improvements

Almost all UI elements in the game have been improved. They now have animations, squash and stretch effects, and all that cool stuff that makes it look juicy. When dropping epic or legendary items, you'll hear cool sound effects.



Other Stuff


A new lighting system, which behaves in a much more realistic way.



New enemies! More fun!



I'm also working on a new stat, which will be linked to difficulty, and items and spells will get bonuses from that, but I'll save it for some other time.

Sneak Peek | Update 3

Hello!

Here's a little sneak peek at what's coming in the new update!



First of all, I’m adding levels to the game. You’ll earn XP by collecting gold, picking up potions, opening chests, and more. At the end of each wave, you’ll get the option to choose one item pack (more on that later) or simply upgrade a single stat by a small amount. Up until now, there hasn’t been much to do besides collecting items and buying spells, so this should mix things up!



Item packs will let you customize what’s available in the shop. Each pack adds a few unique items that can appear, and if you collect at least one of each item from a pack, you’ll unlock a sort of “set” bonus. I was worried that adding more items to the game would make it harder to find the specific ones you want. To solve this, there will be basic items that can appear at all times, plus special items that only show up if you have a certain item pack equipped.



The game is also a lot faster now. No more unnecessary screens telling you which wave is coming—why bother when you can already see it in the upper-right corner? Enemies, the player, bullets, and everything else move quicker, so there’s no more waiting around for things to happen.

Ever since I played Loop Hero a few years ago, I’ve been in love with its CRT filter, so I added it to Hunchback’s Dungeon. In my opinion, it looks awesome! (If you don’t like it, you can always turn it off in the options :D)



What else can I tell you? Hmm… Of course, I’m adding new content: unique items, characters, spells, and even new enemies to spice things up a bit. Plus, I’m fixing all the bugs you’ve reported on Discord and the Steam forums! Also there's more juice now, screen shake, new sounds etc.!
