PSA: The creator of PoE's foremost loot filter released an experimental 'light filter' for Path of Exile 2, just in time to help sort all the freshly buffed loot drops

Path of Exile is, in part, a game about comparing items. As we progress our character builds into the endgame and continue specializing our skill setups, stat and gear needs become more specific. Most melee characters won't need to bother with spell damage; DoT builds might skip over critical hit chance. Gradually, more and more items become irrelevant, unless they're providing—or can be made to provide—the narrowing set of modifiers a build relies on. With how much loot PoE throws at you, however, weighing the stats of every individual drop would leave you spending more time assessing items than actually playing the game...

Path of Exile 2's bosses would crush Diablo 4's in a fight—trust me, I have first-hand experience

Path of Exile 2's boss fights have me wondering if it's even fair to compare them to Diablo 4's… I'm not sure I can even call them boss fights now. One game pits you against monsters designed to challenge your build and your reflexes and the other gives you treasure chests with health bars. I love a lot about Diablo 4, but its bosses are just obstacles between me and my loot, whereas Path of Exile 2's bosses are the whole reason I can't stop playing it...

Path of Exile 2 devs respond to the cries of the loot-starved masses, buffing drops and promising more fixes in upcoming patches

If there's one point of feedback I've heard most from the roughly 300,000 people who, at any given moment, have been playing Path of Exile 2 since its early access launch, it's that we simply need more drops. That sprawling passive skill tree is only so satisfying to meddle with if you aren't getting the gear to make your build sing, and meager loot has left some PoE 2 players swinging the same sad club for upwards of a dozen levels. Luckily, Grinding Gear Games says it'll be loosening the loot tap, promising increased drops in an upcoming patch alongside tweaks to dodging and map checkpoints...

Best Sorceress starter build in Path of Exile 2

The best Sorceress build for the early game in Path of Exile 2 is one that makes use of frost, fire, and lightning abilities, combining all of those effects to deal as much damage as possible. Lacking inherent defensive strength, the Sorceress needs to deal plenty of damage, have good evasion and energy shield stats, and keep away from enemies where possible to improve survivability...

Path of Exile 2 gets its first hits with the nerf bat to bring mace slams, magnetic arrows, and stinky clouds in line: 'It is better to do this early'

Path of Exile 2 is in that early phase of a new ARPG where things are a little bit like the mathematical equivalent of the wild west. All those millions of early access players are running wild, smashing together every possible combination of combat and passive skills in an environment where the laws that undergird civilization—like "ability balance" and "sensible damage scaling"—haven't yet taken hold. Over the weekend, however, Grinding Gear Games made its first attempts at establishing order, deploying a trio of hotfixes to reign in PoE 2 skills that have been overperforming in the game's early days...
