Path of Exile News

As Path of Exile 2 rolls on, PoE 1's lead dev may have left Grinding Gear Games

Between Last Epoch, Diablo 4, Lost Ark, and dozens of others, there's a lot of competition in the ARPG world right now. Slick mechanics and eye-catching design help you stand out, but developers will tell you that the secret to success is having a good bond with your community. The launch of Path of Exile 2 has been occasionally bumpy, but largely, Grinding Gear Games still gets a lot of love from its players. Chris Wilson, who served as lead designer and co-director on the original PoE, has been a mainstay on GGG forums and became the 'face' of the studio during the original game's creation. However, official documents suggest Wilson may have left.

Legacy of Phrecia Event Updates

Last week we revealed all the details for the upcoming Legacy of Phrecia event in Path of Exile 1, but there are still a number of improvements we're making to the event. Check them out in this news post

Faustus has discovered a supplier of Idols and is now selling them in his Black Market. You’ll be able to gamble for Idols with Gold during the event.

You’ll be able to sell your excess Idols to a vendor in exchange for new ones. For example if you sell three magic idols of the same base, you’ll receive one random magic idol of the same base type.

Isla has developed a new attachment for her Prototype Recombinator. It can now recombinate Idols together!

There are also some new Unique Idols that can alter the content you decide to run. For example the Twisted Wish Unique Idol will make Ultimatum Modifiers start a tier higher if possible while reducing the chance of certain rewards allowing you to target the rewards you want.

The Legacy of Phrecia event begins Thursday 12PM February 20th PST. See you there!

Map Stash Tab Available Now in Path of Exile 2

The Map Stash Tab is now available in Path of Exile 2! Check out the details below, or get yours now by pressing M to open the store in-game. They're currently on sale too!

The Map Stash tab can hold up to 576 Waystones of each tier.

Each Waystone tier is divided into six sub-tabs. Each of these can be customised or listed for trade individually. When you have the Map Stash Tab open, a Waystone from your inventory will be automatically stashed into the correct tab by Ctrl + Clicking it from your inventory, or with the Stash button on controllers.

Enable the Waystone affinity in the tab options to ensure that Waystones are always sent to this stash tab, even if you have other stash tabs open.

If you own any Map Stash Tabs in Path of Exile 1, these will now be available to you in Path of Exile 2.

Path of Exile reveals 19 new subclasses for its wild, month-long event

Path of Exile has just fully unveiled its Legacy of Phrecia event, and given that it's a rather last-minute make-good with the community after saying that support for PoE would pause to focus on Path of Exile 2, I'm shocked at how stacked it is. Legacy of Phrecia puts Path of Exile's 19 Ascendancy classes in the bin, and casually whips up 19 fresh ones to replace them. Oh, and it's out next week.
