Champion Shift News

Hello Champions! We’re back to give you all an update on the development of Champion Shift, with some exciting news about our demo, so stick around :)

First of all, to everyone out there that has played the current version of the demo and provided feedback, thank you! It’s invaluable to receive your ideas and suggestions, so we can together make the game as good as it can be. We’ve gotten a huge amount of new demo downloads the past two weeks, so we are excited to listen to what you all have to say (not yet on our Discord? Join us!).

During this past month we have continued the development of the multiplayer aspects of Champion Shift, and progress is coming along fast. Part of our recent challenge has been migrating our codebase to this new online version, which required re-working of abilities, enemies, etc. As our internal online co-op testing continues, it becomes more and more apparent that Champion Shift when played with friends is incredibly fun, chaotic and challenging. As fans of roguelikes, it's just what the doctor ordered, and we can't wait for you all to experience it.

Therefore, we will be updating the current Champion Shift demo with online co-op play in September (specific date will be announced closer to release), plus some extra content goodies! Not only that, but the game’s performance has been optimized, which will give better fps on low end PCs. Additionally, we’ll improve the build with bug fixes, some additional Celestial Gifts, improved UX, and a new stage, as we ramp up development on our way to the Prologue!

Also, don’t forget to Wishlist! It helps us tremendously and we appreciate everyone who has done it so far. Next week we’ll continue with our Celestial Gifts and Champion abilities spotlights, as we delve deeper into the powers you’ll have at your disposal to fight the Dominion!

The Greek goddess of warfare and wisdom is resourceful, deliberate, and a master at out-smarting her opponents. Not only is she a force on the battlefield, but her strategic adeptness makes her mind as powerful as her body. Motivated by the Dominion’s failed attempt at usurping her powers, Athena wields her owl shield as the ultimate form of protection and strength.

In a similar way to the other legendary Champions that escaped the Dominion’s clutches, Athena found herself with a new found ability to shift into a powerful vehicle form. Her supercar ability brings with it a lethal combination of speed and weaponry, a sight that the enemy forces will surely run away from. After all, even the Dominion’s mindless grunts have a survival instinct.



Our roster of Champions expands as more of them awaken from captivity, and Athena’s strategic abilities and leadership will surely be a beacon of strength in our fight against the Dominion’s forces. Join us as we reclaim our world, together as Champions!

Greetings, valiant champions! In this spotlight, we delve into the divine powers of Zeus, the mighty lord of Olympus, and his awe-inspiring gift: the Thunderbolt. Prepare to wield the power of heavens itself as you call down bolts of lightning upon the Dominion forces in Champion Shift.

Zeus's Thunderbolt grants you the ability to call down bolts of lightning to strike random enemies with divine retribution. Witness as the Dominion forces quiver under the overwhelming might of Zeus's wrath.


[h3]Lightning Crashes[/h3]
With this upgrade, the reach of Zeus's Thunderbolt is magnified, expanding its electrifying impact to cover a wider radius. Enemies within the vicinity of the strike will be enveloped in electrifying chaos, disintegrating before the divine storm you unleash.


[h3]Thunder Smite[/h3]
Zeus's power is not confined solely to the Thunderbolt. With this upgrade, every weapon strike becomes a conduit for its divine power. As you engage the Dominion forces in combat, the heavens respond with an electrifying surge, striking your foes with deadly force. Become the living embodiment of Zeus's fury!


Furthermore, acquiring at least one of each of these upgrades rewards you with an extra Thunderbolt, reaching a maximum count of three. Imagine the devastating spectacle as multiple bolts of Zeus's thunder rain down upon the Dominion, scattering their forces and decimating the battlefield! Pure awesomeness.

Hello champions!

Today we drop by with an overall update on one of the features we get asked about the most: co-op gameplay! On the last dev update, we touched upon it a little bit, but let's do a deeper dive and see how you and your friends can play together, and a lot more. Grab some coffee and let’s go.

Online co-op will feature up to 4 players banding together to bring down the forces of the Dominion. Four mythical champions against thousands of Dominion forces? I’ll take those odds. But within all the mayhem you and your friends will unleash, a key element remains: you must band together to complete the stage’s missions before moving on to the next stage. The difficulty of the missions will take into account the amount of players, so working together will be super important if you are to succeed. Since missions are scattered throughout the map, shifting into car form and heading out to them at top speed is the name of the game. But be aware of where your allies are in the map, or you might find yourself getting smacked by a bit-too-many Dominion soldiers. It gets crazy, but nothing you can’t handle with a little help from your friends.



As many of you have seen by now, our Demo features single player gameplay (Don’t have the demo yet? What are you doing, go grab it, go!). The co-op functionality will come with our next milestone, which will be our Champion Shift: Prologue, currently in development. It features some awesome technology from Photon’s Quantum engine, and together with them we are making sure the online play is smooth as it can be. We love multiplayer games, especially co-op, and we know that having that flawless online experience is everything. That’s what we are aiming for. And so far, the internal tests of co-op gameplay have been one of the most fun game sessions we’ve ever had (for a sneak peek at co-op play, check out our trailer, which features some of it!). Migrating the project to this new paradigm has been challenging, but one we have welcomed with open arms. And our developers have done an amazing job with it, and so far it's just chef kiss

In the next few weeks we will be unveiling a new character profile and more insights into the Celestial Gifts, and some more reveals as we continue to build the Champion Shift universe.

Oh, and one more thing… something mysterious happens as stages are completed, something hidden in-between… a quiet place, but someone is here. Could it be a guide?
