Release Date Change

Dear players,

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who downloaded the "Never Grave" demo, shared feedback and added the game to their wishlists.
The demo, released during the Feb 2024 Steam Next Fest, was installed by over 110,000 players and became one of the most played demos of the event.
This significant milestone was achieved thanks to your unwavering support, and we're genuinely thrilled about it.

Today, we have an important update to share with you.

In response to your invaluable feedback, we've made the decision to adjust our release date in pursuit of delivering a higher quality experience.
Recognizing the unique blend of Metroidvania and Roguelite elements in Never Grave, we believe it's more beneficial to offer an Early Access version with a nearly finalized level of polish and content, rather than launching at an earlier stage of development. As a result, we've chosen to postpone the Early Access release until we can present a more refined and complete version.

In addition to our initial plans, we're committed to implementing various improvements based on your feedback. These enhancements include the introduction of new stages, fine-tuning animations, refining gameplay mechanics, and the incorporation of features such as:
Areas that make better use of enemy possession and the hat form.
A "treasure map" revealing hidden locations.
Enhanced liveliness and deeper story involvement of NPCs.

Our goal is to provide a game that truly delights you. We sincerely apologize for the delay to those eagerly anticipating our Early Access release and hope for your understanding of the reasons behind this decision. The new release date will be announced as soon as it is finalized.

We remain dedicated to delivering an exceptional gaming experience and appreciate your ongoing support.

Gratefully,

The Never Grave Dev Team

Palworld devs' next game is a base-building Dead Cells and Hollow Knight mash-up

When I first saw Never Grave: The Witch And The Curse rising up the Steam Next Fest charts at the end of last week, I thought, "Oh! That's a neat Hollow Knight-looking Metroivanida roguelike, I'll definitely give that a go." And having played its demo over the weekend, I can confirm: it's certainly an intriguing little thing that I'll be keen to keep an eye on when it launches into early access, possibly sometime next month.

The biggest surprise was that, despite its very Hollow Knight-looking visuals, it actually plays more like Dead Cells in practice. Instead of being a sentient lump of flesh able to inhabit infinite bodies, you're a magical witch's hat that can possess, discard and rematerialise your chosen sack of limbs at the touch of a button. The second thing that surprised me was that it also has quite a substantial base/village building aspect to it on the side, and the third - well, perhaps this isn't so much of a surprise given everything I've just said, because it also turns out this is the next game from Palworld developers Pocketpair. Yep, it all makes a bit more sense now.
