Devlog 8 : 20H00 !

Hello B.E.S.T.I.E.S!

Lots of little news today!
As you know, Episode 3 is divided by hours and the free-roam represents the evening at Grace's, also divided by hours.
We are at 8:00 p.m., the end of the evening passing at midnight.



Last week was largely used to learn how to code some things including, and I think this will please some players: the arrival of the phone!



So we had to integrate it into Episode 4 at your request... But we found the opportunity to use it before so we spent time on it trying to understand how it works and in the end... Well we are quite satisfied with the result!
This of course needs to be improved over time, but here are the functions that we have managed to integrate:

- The list of dynamic contacts according to your history and the paths you follow.
- You can, at certain times, send messages to girls yourself, again depending on the story and the choices you have made previously.
- Integration of B.E.S.T stats into the phone.
- History of messages received
- A Wallpaper function to change the phone's wallpaper: When you receive photos of girls by message, they are saved in the phone and you can reuse them as wallpaper.

Other functions will come over time. If you have ideas for useful things to add, don't hesitate to leave us comments!

The other part of the time was used for free-roam and in particular the navigation system inside. We have therefore created free-roam in such a way that you do not have to look for where you need to go but to choose. Here is the “main hub” for this evening and how the free-roam will be organized:



As you see the middle image represents the hub where you can click on girls to talk with them or participate in activities, at the top and bottom the movement bars which tell you which room to go to. Finally obviously events depending on your choices and current routes will take place during this event, characters will be available... or not for you depending on your saves...

Finally, now that all that is done, even if it took us a little longer than expected, it saved us time for episode 4!

All that remains is to chain together the images and animations for the evening and move forward in this free-roam until the end of the episode!

DEVLOG SPECIAL: YOUR CHOSEN NAMES!

Hello B.E.S.T.I.E.S!

Now that Episode 3 Part 1 is live on our support sites, we can fully focus on the second part of this episode: the party at Grace's place!



Episode 3 Part 1 features over 300 new renders, 14 animations, a new test, a sexy scene, and new music. It's already a significant step forward for the story's progression.
Part 2 will have a completely different style, with events changing based on your choices and preferences during the evening, along with some surprises :)
I'll provide a specific devlog on this topic as we progress, detailing the system we've implemented for this first "free-roam" feature integrated into the game.



The girls are busy with their makeup right now, so we'll leave them alone for the moment :)

Two weeks ago, we asked you to suggest a name for our new character.
Here are the selected names:

We will now put these names up for a vote by our supporters on our support sites, and I'll let you know the result!

This is our last girl arriving in the casting of B.E.S.T and... Even if we have an idea for her first name... We would want you to give us your ideas on how to name her !

DEVLOG 7 : 20 000 players and Episode 3 Part 1 nearly finished !

Hello B.E.S.T.I.E.S!

(Yeah, I didn't really know what to call B.E.S.T players so I opted for that ^^)

Today we reached a new milestone for our game: there are now more than 20,000 players who have played, tested, loved or hated our game! And it’s really great because, for early access, it’s really a great success!

When we think that a little over a year ago we started from scratch saying that we were going to make our own game by learning everything as we went along and that now, thanks to you, your advice and requests ... We're here, it's fabulous and it motivates us to continue calmly! So once again: THANK YOU!



Well, apart from that, a little information on the progress!

We improve on animations and renderings again and again and save time on that thanks to the 2 computers. So you'll have a little more animations and a little nicer stuff in this episode, with even better image quality compared to episode 2.

We've almost finished the last scene of the first part of Episode 3. We just have the last few animations to do, then we're going to put the music on and send it all to the translators. Then, as seen with Steam players, this Part 1 will be available on our support sites which will test the new features (and hunt for bugs if there are any ^^) to make a real release of the full episode on Steam as soon as it's ready. Part 2 is organized, written and a few surprises have been added. As you now know, this part 2 will essentially be based on the evening at Grace's.

As there will only be a global environment normally this part should go faster regarding the images. Regarding the code, this will be our first "free-roam" that we will try to make dynamic and fun for players to do. Once again there will be several scenes depending on the previous choices, activities to do depending on the time of the evening and the desire you have to follow or not the program organized by Ruby :)

Finally in part 1 you will meet a new girl who is important in the story.



Only we have a problem... Her first name. We have had an idea from the beginning but we are not sure of ourselves. So, to involve you in the development of this story, we want to offer you the opportunity to name this character! Don’t hesitate to give your ideas! The first name should have a slightly oriental sound, be original and, above all, please you. We will keep the best proposals and vote on your proposals on our support sites!



As for the deadlines, given the planned roadmap we are just on target, Part 1 was planned for May and Part 2 for July. We're right there for now. Learning to code the second test took a little longer than expected but the result seems nice to us and we can't wait to see your results on it! Our objective is clearly to try to finish the episode for you by the beginning/mid of July, before the holidays if possible :) That way, we can continue on Episode 4 for the end of the year as we had planned.
