"Spirit of Customer Service" Update - 1.1 Out Now!

[p]Welcome to the first of our planned large updates for Trash Goblin! This update contains a ton of work from the team - some of it even from before the 1.0 launch - and we're really excited to see what you think of it![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]We think this update adds at least 2 hours of extra gameplay to Trash Goblin, and way more if you chase the new achievements and all the entries for the new trinkets in your Trinketpedia. But more importantly, it introduces a whole new species of customer to the game! Read on for the full details...[/p][p][/p][p]What's New[/p][p]The headline addition is the new species, the Spiritfolk! They're mysterious beings who don't exactly interact with the world in the same way others do. Their addition brings a whole raft of exciting new stuff, including:[/p]
• [p]A set of 10 themed trinkets, based on their culture[/p]
• [p]A new Named Customer! A Spirit of course, alongside their unique questline! Get to know this exciting addition to our cast of characters... and maybe even delve into your own past in the process...[/p]
• [p]New paperdolls! Spiritfolk will turn up as "stranger" customers after a certain point in the story.[/p]
[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]New District - Follybrink[/p][p]This is a location in Silver City that is very popular with a certain kind of tourist, the ones who want to see the spicier areas of the Chasm. You know the ones. The type that Mycelle would not appreciate being in his tour groups.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]It's a beautiful place, though a very different vibe to the other areas we've visited, and we can't wait to see what you think of it![/p][p][/p][p]New (mini) Donoval Quest[/p][p]We've heard people calling for a "Sequel for Donoval!" and while it's not that grand, we couldn't resist having that lovely lizard come back to see what new stock you've got. Expect more like this in future updates if it goes down well! Also, a few other familiar faces return as well, so keep an eye out.[/p][p][/p][p]Shop Shut Sign[/p][p]We've been seeing plenty of you goblins asking for a way to stop customers coming - if only to reduce the pressure you feel to serve them - and so we have added a feature that lets you do just that! Once introduced to you by Aunty V, you can choose to either close the shop entirely which prevents all customers coming back, or setting it so that only customers you've asked to return will show up. Of course you'll have to make sure to open it up again once you're ready![/p][p][/p][p]Closing your shop pauses the timers that govern when customers arrive so they don't stack up, but it doesn't pause time itself (that'd be a neat trick) so you still see the day turn to night, and actions still take up time slots. You're also free to travel to districts to sell at your pop-up events - though you cannot shut the popup, as the entire point of travelling there is to sell sell sell! So to be clear, it's only the main shop that has this functionality.[/p][p][/p][p]On your first playthrough this will unlock shortly after you first district trip, but for anyone beyond that point, Aunty knows and will show up soon enough. We hope you enjoy this newfound freedom in how to play![/p][p][/p][p]Big Upcycling Improvement[/p][p]We've added a feature where the game will add an icon to the screen edges for each of your viable trinkets around the workshop that are out of view during Upcycling. Clicking on this allows you to grab that trinket regardless of where it is located, meaning you can be a lot more free in your combinations! It also has a tooltip so you can check the name, plus it shows you which are already upcycled so you can make informed choices![/p][p][/p][p]Also featuring...[/p]
• [p]25 additional new trinkets (so that's 35 in total for this update!)[/p]
[p][/p]
• [p]3 new cosmetic sets - Sun, Spirit and Ambassador![/p]
• [p]7 new achievements[/p]
[p]It's worth noting that most of this new content really comes into play after you've completed the main questline, so now's the perfect time to return to Silver City and see what's been going on since your last visit![/p][p][/p][p]Bug Fixes and Other Updates[/p]
• [p]Achievements now fire retroactively (good for anyone coming over from the demo!).[/p]
• [p]You can now adjust the SFX level for chipping and cleaning separately.[/p]
• [p]Fixed a rare issue where a trinket could despawn as you moved from the work bench to the customer window.[/p]
• [p]Changed the Safety Pin's socket connection so that it now correctly acts as a "charm", like those that connect with necklaces.[/p]
• [p]We've adjusted necklace and hair pin connections so that charms don't start out at an angle that clips through the necklace.[/p]
• [p]The Lantern connection point on the Goblin Mask has been tweaked to the correct angle to prevent clipping (which also means you can now connect all "charm" type trinkets like the hairpin tassel, heart pendant, bead necklace charm, etc.[/p]
• [p]Tooltips now adjust positioning so they don't go off screen edges.[/p]
• [p]The Map view now has the intended audio treatment.[/p]
• [p]The Stone Frog's socket connections have been corrected.[/p]
• [p]Characters within the crowd will no longer shrink as they walk past your shop.[/p]
[p]And there we have it, a humongous update for all you Goblins out there to get your mucky paws on! We'd be delighted to hear what you think, and we'll be lurking in the steam forums but we welcome you to our discord too, especially if you like sharing your upcycling creations and pics of your workshop![/p]

Content Roadmap & 1.1 Update tease

[p]We're well clear of the bug fixing and patching phase of the post-launch plan, and are about to unleash our first big update on the world![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Trash Goblin 1.1 - The Spirit of Customer Service is going to be coming to Trash Goblin very soon, so keep an eye out for details. I literally sent the trailer for an audio pass earlier today, so that gives you an idea of how close you are to being able to enjoy it![/p][p][/p][p]And as for the other updates - as per usual, we're keeping dates and too many other specifics to ourselves because we don't want to over-promise or disappoint you. That said, 1.2 is obviously going to be the update where we believe the game is ready to be enjoyed to its fullest on Steam Deck (alongside more new content, of course), 1.3 will see a bunch of exciting new features, and content focused around everyone's favourite Lizard merchant, Donoval! 1.4 is the fuzziest on here, and revolves around customisation... and then beyond that we've got plenty more up our sleeves too![/p][p][/p][p]All of these updates will feature new content, quests, trinkets, bug fixes, polish, features and some of them will introduce brand new gameplay, plus we're hoping that each one will add a few achievements to the mix as well![/p][p][/p][p]Expect some of this to land in 2025, some of it later, and as ever this is very much a work in progress and subject to change.[/p][p][/p][p]What about Localisation?[/p][p]We're hoping to announce specifics plans around localisation very soon, but don't want to say anything until we're 100% sure. Suffice to say, we want to make sure goblins from all around the world get to enjoy this game![/p]

Bug Fix Patch #8

[p]Greetings Goblins! We've got another bug fix patch for you. [/p][p][/p][p]Don't worry folks, we've not forgotten about the new road map. Things are just super busy here at Spilt Milk HQ at the moment and also slightly disrupted - as well as working on all the exciting future plans, we're also prepping for the Develop next week. The whole team are heading down to Brighton to the Develop Awards as we're nominated for Best In-Game Accessibility and Best Small Studio. Plus our Audio Engineer, Ben, is up for the Game Dev Hero Audio award! Keep your little goblin fingers crossed for us! [/p][p][/p][p]Once we're back from Develop we'll be finalising a few things and then should have some exciting news to share with in the coming weeks. [/p][p][/p]
• [p]We've fixed an issue that was causing some players to get stuck inside the upcycling ceremony and deleting trinkets.[/p]
• [p]NPCs will no longer refuse to accept the correct trinket after the game has saved with an unwanted trinket on the sales mat. [/p]
• [p]The Upclycing and Pay-What-You-Can information boxes can now be closed[/p]
• [p]Changes to the camera edge movement setting will no longer reset after reloading the game.[/p]
• [p]Icons for trinkets placed in the soak tub will no longer default to the bottle icon after reloading save files.[/p]
• [p]We've made some tweaks to prevent random NPCs from creating requests for non existent trinkets.[/p]
• [p]Trinkets can no longer be duplicated by manipulting full Stash books![/p]
• [p]The Hz setting in the Resolution field on the Options menu will no longer default to your monitor's max refresh rate on reload.[/p]

Bug Fix Patch #7 and Mini Upcycling Update

[p]Hello Goblins![/p][p][/p][p]Welcome to our "mini upcycling update". We've got a handful of upcycling related bug fixes for you, plus we've been adding some new sockets to existing trinkets. Some of these changes are based on requests from the community and some are additions we wanted to make but haven't had the time until now. We've got plenty more of the tweaks planned but if you have some suggestions of your own, we'd love to hear them. Head over to our Discord and let us know what you've like to see. We can't promise we'll make every change - some things are just not possible - but we love hearing your suggestions and seeing if we can rise to the challenge![/p][p][/p]
Upcycling Updates
[p][/p]
• [p]It is now possible to attach the Viola Bow to the front of the Viola.[/p]
• [p]The positioning of one of the Viola Bow's charm attachments has been tweaked.[/p]
• [p]The Woolen Mouse can now sit upon a number of things.[/p]
• [p]You can now attach charms and gems to the Motor Broom Handlebars.[/p]
• [p]The Heart Pendant now sits better on necklaces.[/p]
• [p]The candle holder can now be decorated.[/p]
• [p]And despite protestations from some of the team, the dolls can how hold things. What could possibly go wrong? Letting little dolls made up of all kinds of weird parts hold blades has always ended in cuddle and unicorns, in my experience.[/p]
[p]Don't say we didn't warn you![/p][p][/p]
Bug Fixes
• [p]The Trinketpedia will now recognise all combined child trinkets attached to a parent trinket when upcycling and selling.[/p]
• [p]It is no longer possible to prevent time from passing when upcycling. You rascals.[/p]
• [p]The sack will now register as having been placed successfully on the work mat even if the top flops over the edge. We let goblins live their chosen life, now sacks can too. Even if it is just encouraging them to be lazy and not sitting up straight while the player talks to you. In my day...-[/p]
