Announcing CTHULHU'S REACH: DEVIL REEF Early Access

Hey there, Adventurer!

It's been quite the odyssey since we embarked on the journey of developing "Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef", and it has evolved into the most ambitious and intricate game we've ever crafted. After nearly two years of dedicated work, there's still a world of possibilities we aim to explore: additional weapons, innovative mechanics, fine-tuning gameplay balance, and beyond. Rather than delaying the launch, we've chosen to engage the community in our ongoing development journey by releasing in Early Access, while still aiming for our target release date around Steam Scream 2024.

What to expect

The game has taken serious steps forward in the last couple of months, but it is not yet as fully featured as we would like it to be. Below is a list of the major features that we are actively working on:

  • The Acts
In this Early Access release, you will be able to play a rough version of the first Act. We plan to expand on this going forward and have three Acts fully fleshed out come the full release of the game later this year.

  • Map Editor
The editor is currently deactivated and only used internally while we develop the game. We aim to make the game’s editor available for players to create their own custom maps and scenarios.

  • Arsenal
There are currently four playable weapons in this Early Access version of the game. We have planned for the game to have nine distinct weapons upon release. The weapons will range from real-world representations such as flamethrowers and hand grenades to more fantastical Eldritch-imbued weapons.

  • More Horrors
Enemies of various shapes and sizes will be introduced progressively as the Early Access continues. Expect to see scuttling, drifting, flying, and crawling monsters that try to halt your endeavor.

The project has thus far thrived and surpassed our expectations, largely thanks to the incredible community support. The invaluable suggestions, feedback, and bug reports from our players have pushed the game forward. We are excited to continue this collaborative spirit, inviting players to join us on this thrilling adventure, crafting an otherworldly action roguelike experience set in the sinister abyss of Devil Reef.

Take the journey with us and we will see you in the depths!

Warm Regards,
The Fine Arc Team
