Developer's Preview #5: September Update

[p][/p][p]Greetings from the Summoners War Dev Team![/p][p][/p][p]Though summer is reaching its end, the midday sun is still strong in Korea.[/p][p]However, the breeze is getting cooler in the mornings and evenings, reminding us that the seasons are slowly changing.[/p][p]Even during this seasonal shift, the heat continues in Summoners War—thanks to SWC2025.[/p][p][/p][p]Thanks to your unwavering support again this year, the SWC2025 Regional Qualifiers have been more intense than ever.[/p][p]The upcoming matches are also adding heat, and we hope you claim all the rewards prepared in the prediction event.[/p][p][/p][p]Also, we thank all players who have given their all in their matches and those preparing for upcoming ones.[/p][p]We ask everyone to stay tuned until the end of the SWC2025 journey, from the Regional Cups to the World Finals.[/p][p][/p][p]In this Developer’s Preview, we have prepared details about the update planned for September.[/p][p]The update includes the Trial of Ascension (Hell) revamp, addition of new floors to Challenge of Ascension,[/p][p]and the new World Arena content, “Challenge Battle."[/p][p][/p][p]Let's dive into the fifth \[Developer's Preview]![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Currently, having to achieve challenge objectives on top of the high base difficulty for rewards is fatiguing many Summoners.[/p][p]Starting with the Trial of Ascension that resets on Sep. 14 PDT, we plan to lower the base difficulty of the Hell mode[/p][p]and ease the reward acquisition structure and conditions to reduce the overall gameplay burden.[/p][p][/p][p]1. The base difficulty without challenge objectives will become easier.[/p][p]While preserving the identity of Trial of Ascension (Hell) as challenging content,[/p][p]the revamp will lower the base difficulty and provide a variety of challenge objectives for a more engaging field of challenge.[/p][p]We are also preparing new enemy teams to match the adjusted difficulty, along with a downward adjustment of enemy stats.[/p][p][/p][p]2. The reward structure will be improved.[/p][p]The final reward (Legendary All-Attribute Scroll) in Hell mode currently requires 20 stars, which means clearing all 10 floors on base difficulty alone is not enough to claim the reward.[/p][p]We plan to improve the reward acquisition structure, lowering the hurdle for rewards and adjusting the reward tiers, so that the final reward can be claimed by clearing all floors on base difficulty alone.[/p][p]Additionally, to make clear points more useful, the ToA (Hell) rewards will be changed to a system similar to the Arena's Glory Shop, where items can be purchased with clear points earned from clearing floors and achieving challenge objectives.[/p][p]Furthermore, these clear points will not reset when ToA resets; they will carry over to the following month.[/p][p][/p][p]3. The range of selectable challenge objectives will be expanded.[/p][p]ToA (Hell) will offer more freedom in selecting the challenge objectives, instead of presenting two fixed goals per floor.[/p][p]More options mean more diverse strategies and more opportunities to try out unique tactics.[/p][p]You will be able to set challenge objectives that are easier for you to tackle, or, if you prefer a more challenging experience, you can set many objectives at once and play accordingly.[/p][p][/p][p]4. The targets affected by challenge objective effects will be distinguished between enemies and allies.[/p][p]The effects of challenge objectives that are currently applied equally to both allies and enemies will be clearly divided and applied as either enemy-only effects or ally-only effects.[/p][p]For example, the “Limits harmful effects to 1 turn" goal on 1F will be changed to an enemy-only condition after the update.[/p][p]At first glance, this change may raise concerns about increased difficulty, but our goal is to shape an environment where we can design stage balance more precisely, which will ultimately lower the difficulty of ToA (Hell) when paired with appropriate adjustments to enemy Monster stats.[/p][p]This modification will also be applied to Challenge of Ascension with the same intent.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]To allow more Summoners to enjoy Challenge of Ascension in a properly balanced environment,[/p][p]we plan to lower the overall difficulty of CoA while also revamping the challenge objectives and ranking system.[/p][p][/p][p]1. Difficulty adjustments and expansion of the top floors.[/p][p]Each Attribute Tower will be expanded from 30 floors to 40 floors, and Spires of Ascension from 100 floors to 140 floors.[/p][p]Along with the expansion, we are preparing balance adjustments to make CoA less demanding by adjusting enemy stats and changing the floors where certain challenge objectives appear.[/p][p]Our goal is to make lower floors clearable without burden, while higher floors require more strategic play to provide an adequate sense of satisfaction. Extensive stage balance tests are underway to that end.[/p][p][/p][p]2. Ranking criteria will be changed.[/p][p]The ranking criteria currently based on the date and time of clearing a floor will be changed to the number of turns taken, so that the rankings reflect how efficient and well-executed a strategy was.[/p][p]While preserving the honor of Summoners who cleared the top floors first in the \[First Conqueror] info, the achievements of Summoners who demonstrated advanced strategies will be recorded in the rankings.[/p][p]Due to the criteria change, rankings will be newly tallied after the update; pre-update CoA ranking records will be preserved separately in a \[Hall of Fame] so that the records of current CoA rankers remain.[/p][p][/p][p]3. A debate board for Challenge of Ascension will be added.[/p][p]A debate board will be added to CoA for sharing strategies on climbing the towers.[/p][p]Only Summoners who have cleared a given stage will be able to create posts on that stage’s board.[/p][p]Share your own CoA strategies and tips with fellow Summoners![/p][p][/p][p]4. The Challenge of Ascension revamp will be introduced during the first update in September.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]\[Challenge Battle] is a new mode where battles are conducted using a fixed pool of Monsters provided, instead of your own.[/p][p]We hope this lets Summoners who lack certain Monsters or have not farmed Runes to enjoy RTA in the same environment.[/p][p]By providing a fixed Monster pool for battle, we aim to deliver a new World Arena mode in which strategic elements—such as understanding Monsters and building teams—take center stage.[/p][p][/p][p]1. A preset number of Monsters will be provided.[/p][p]From a pool of around 30 to 40 Monsters, 12 to 16 Monsters will be assigned to either side at the start of battle.[/p][p]All Monsters will be 6★, Lv. 40, with MAX skill levels, and will have preset Runes and Artifacts engraved.[/p][p](The total Monster pool and the number of Monsters provided at battle start are still under final discussion and testing.[/p][p]We will share more details in a future update notice.)[/p][p]After proceeding with the pick & ban phase using the provided Monsters, the battle will begin.[/p][p]The base pool of 30 to 40 Monsters will remain unchanged throughout a season and be applied globally to all Summoners,[/p][p]while the 12 to 16 Monsters assigned for battle are determined randomly at the start of each battle.[/p][p]Monsters assigned to you will not appear for your opponent, meaning you will be able to infer your opponent's Monster pool.[/p][p][/p][p]2. The \[Challenge Battle] season will proceed separately from the existing World Arena.[/p][p]We are carefully reviewing the season duration in order to provide a new Monster pool each season for diverse strategies.[/p][p]If the season is too long, \[Challenge Battle] may become repetitive within the same pool;[/p][p]if it is too short, the pool may change before deck guides or strategies can be established, stirring confusion.[/p][p]We are planning to set an appropriate length by observing the gameplay flow following the introduction of \[Challenge Battle].[/p][p][/p][p]3. \[Challenge Battle] continues until you record a total of three losses.[/p][p]In \[Challenge Battle], your goal is to record as many wins as possible before losing three times.[/p][p]There is no limit to the number of entries; you can play as freely as you wish.[/p][p]However, once you reach three losses, your number of wins at that time will be recorded as your performance record.[/p][p]If you choose to enter again, your record will reset to 0 wins and 0 losses and start anew.[/p][p]Who will record the most wins on each server? May the most creative strategies log as many wins as possible![/p][p][/p][p]4. \[Challenge Battle] Reward Structure[/p][p]We are considering one-time rewards based on seasonal achievements.[/p][p]Most rewards will be relatively easy to get, as our goal is to engage more Summoners to enjoy the content without pressure.[/p][p][/p][p]5. \[Challenge Battle] is targeted for a late-September update.[/p][p][/p][p]That’s all for today’s Developer’s Preview![/p][p][/p][p]We will continue to share new content and improvements and listen carefully to your valuable feedback.[/p][p]If you have any questions or opinions about this update, please feel free to share them anytime.[/p][p][/p][p]The next Developer’s Preview will likely share news about the large-scale update scheduled for mid-November.[/p][p]Internally, we dubbed it \[Summoners War: Tomorrow] and are eagerly exploring ways to bring powerful changes to the game.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We are truly grateful for all the love and support you send to Summoners War.[/p][p]Please look forward to more exciting updates![/p]

It is one of the most iconic and beloved titles in the genre to this day.[/p][p][/p][p]The Tekken series is especially known for its realistic 3D combat visuals, distinct fighting styles for each character, and a complex yet gripping storyline centered around the Mishima bloodline.[/p][p]In particular, the latest installment \[TEKKEN 8], released in 2024, has been praised as a “textbook fighting game” for its improved graphics, heavy impact feel, and newly introduced battle system.[/p][p][/p][p]For this collaboration, five key characters from \[TEKKEN 8] have been reimagined in Summoners War’s signature:[/p][p]\[Jin Kazama, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Heihachi Mishima].[/p][p][/p][p]Jin Kazama, the main protagonist fighting against his fate, wielding power and determination to dominate the battlefield.[/p][p]Hwoarang, who relentlessly pressures his opponents with fast, precise Taekwondo kick combos.[/p][p]Paul Phoenix, a bold fighter with overwhelming power and deep martial arts spirit.[/p][p]Nina Williams, the cold assassin who strikes with speed and lethal technique.[/p][p]And finally, Heihachi Mishima, the very symbol of Tekken itself with unmatched charisma and combat skill.[/p][p][/p][p]Each character, with their unique identity, will be reinterpreted to deliver a new level of excitement in Summoners War.[/p][p][/p][p]Like previous collabs, the Tekken Collab Characters will appear only in their Awakened form, using their original names.[/p][p]They will be added as either Nat 4 or Nat 5 depending on attribute,[/p][p]with Heihachi Mishima appearing only as a Nat 5 Fire Attribute Character, obtainable through a special event.[/p][p][/p][p]Please refer to the table below for more details.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You are probably most curious about how Tekken's powerful fighting techniques will be recreated in Summoners War.[/p][p]We have worked hard to preserve the original essence while delivering new fun through diverse skill mechanics.[/p][p][/p][p]Here's a sneak peek at some of the skills.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We spent a lot of time thinking about how to best capture the skill identity of Tekken characters in Summoners War.[/p][p]For example, Hwoarang’s combat style in the original focuses on pressuring the opponent through fast and precise kicks.[/p][p]We interpreted that in Summoners War as an overwhelming number of hits, giving him some of the highest multi-hit skills.[/p][p]We hope you get to experience the stylish and fast-paced action Hwoarang is known for in Summoners War.[/p][p][/p][p]This collab also comes with voiceovers for each character during skill activation.[/p][p]Although Tekken does not feature much dialogue, shouts and lines specific to each character have been implemented.[/p][p]We recommend playing Summoners War with sound to enjoy the full impact of their battles.[/p][p][/p][p]We have always included limited-time content to make collabs more entertaining, and the Tekken collab is no different.[/p][p]Take a closer look at what’s been prepared below.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Collab Event Building: Fight Lounge[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The Fight Lounge is a dedicated space where various collab content is available for convenient access during the collab.[/p][p]You can enter the Fight Lounge by accessing it directly or via the collab icon added to the right side of the Sky Island screen.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Upon entering the Fight Lounge, you can view and access all the collab content at a glance.[/p][p]Let's dive into the details of what content you can enjoy through this screen.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Collab Event Dungeon: Arcade Battle[/p][p][/p][p]For this collab, we have prepared an entirely new style of event dungeon dubbed Arcade Battle.[/p][p]To reflect the fast pace and intensity of fighting games, we tried many new approaches, from dungeon structure to combat style and UI.[/p][p][/p][p]Arcade Battle progresses through consecutive stages, with your party growing stronger after each battle.[/p][p]You will also face powerful bosses straight out of the Tekken universe.[/p][p]The format includes single-round, high-impact battles and various upgrade elements, offering a unique experience.[/p][p][/p][p]The following are some of the aspects that make Arcade Battle special:[/p][p][/p][p]★ Arcade Battle Features[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Arcade Battle is a 5v5 battle mode where you fight alongside Tekken Collab Characters.[/p][p]Your team must include at least one Tekken Collab Character to begin battle. Even if you have not summoned one, you can choose one of the four Collab Characters provided upon entry to support you.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You would have noticed that the UI resembles the character select screens from classic fighting games.[/p][p]We wanted to capture that same vibe in the interface since we are collaborating with a legendary fighting game.[/p][p][/p][p]Here's how the screen is laid out:[/p][p][/p][p]① Select your Monsters to participate in battle. This works like the existing battle preparation screen.[/p][p][/p][p]② Choose your opponent.[/p][p]: Instead of battling against a predetermined enemy deck, you will battle against random enemies in Arcade Battle. When a Monster is selected from the list, the remaining slots will be filled around it.[/p][p][/p][p]③ View information about the opponent team selected in ②.[/p][p][/p][p]Once your team is ready, the 5v5 battle begins. Here are some more key features.[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Arcade Battle has three difficulty levels (Normal, Hard, and Hell), each consisting of seven rounds.[/p][p]You will progress in the order of Normal > Hard > Hell. To unlock the next difficulty, clear all seven rounds of the current one.[/p][p]After battling six of the 18 Monsters displayed on the UI, one for each round, a boss round will begin in Round 7.[/p][p]When the boss round is cleared, the next difficulty level will unlock. The enemy list will be refreshed upon advancement.[/p][p][/p][p]In previous collabs, you had to select paths on a tile map to progress in event dungeons.[/p][p]For this collab, the format has been redesigned for a more arcade-style progression in line with the fighting game theme.[/p][p][/p][p]Like the Arena, each round will be a single 5v5 battle without waves, allowing for faster gameplay.[/p][p]Winning a battle unlocks upgrades for strengthening your Monsters.[/p][p][/p][p]To clarify the loop for each difficulty,[/p][p]① Battle a randomly selected enemy team each round. [/p][p]② Win and select an upgrade to strengthen your team. [/p][p]③ Battle the next round with the upgraded team.[/p][p]④ Repeat steps ① to ③ to reach Round 7 and face the boss.[/p][p][/p][p]If you struggle in a round, you can restart from Round 1 while keeping all your upgrades.[/p][p]Try different builds or upgrade paths for a fresh strategy. [/p][p][/p][p]Please read on for more details on the upgrade system.[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Upgrade options will be available after clearing each round.[/p][p]After each round, you can choose an upgrade to strengthen your party.[/p][p]There are two types of upgrades — stat upgrades and special upgrades.[/p][p][/p][p]\[Stat Upgrade][/p][p]HP / Attack Power / Defense / Attack Speed / Critical Rate / Critical Damage / Accuracy / Resistance [/p][p]You can select one of four randomly presented stats for upgrade after clearing each round.[/p][p]The selected stat is applied to your entire party with fixed values.[/p][p][/p][p]\[Special Upgrade][/p][p]Special Upgrade options appear after clearing Rounds 3, 5, and 7, unique to specific Monsters.[/p][p]They apply special effects such as heal amount increase, buff duration increase, extra turns, Continuous Damage, etc.[/p][p]Particularly in Round 3, upgrades exclusive for Tekken Collab Characters will appear to enable synergy builds.[/p][p]You can also stack multiple special upgrades on the same Monster to maximize their potential.[/p][p][/p][p]Take a look at some of the special upgrades for a better understanding.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Special upgrades not only boost the Monster's utility but also allow you to try out a completely new style of play. [/p][p][/p][p]If none of the special upgrade options look interesting, you can refresh the special upgrade list up to 5 times.[/p][p]There are limits to how many times a Monster can receive stacked special upgrades, so take that into consideration.[/p][p][/p][p]★ Arcade Battle Boss[/p][p][/p][p]At the final round of each difficulty, \[Kazuya Mishima, Azazel, and True Devil Kazuya] make their grand entrance as bosses.[/p][p][/p][p]Let's preview Kazuya Mishima, the boss for Normal difficulty.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Kazuya is designed to reflect his cold, ruthless nature and quick combat style.[/p][p]If you expose an opening, Kazuya will punish you with devastating counterattacks.[/p][p][/p][p]The battle against Kazuya will be challenging as he will constantly be angling for punishing attacks — removing beneficial effects with \[Omega Crash] and counterattacking with \[Mishima Style Fighting Karate] when attacked by a Monster with no beneficial effects.[/p][p][/p][p]To keep him in check, we advise using Monsters that can consistently grant beneficial effects on your team.[/p][p]For instance, Sadiel and Zeryah, the Wind Twin Angels, will be a reasonable choice. Its beneficial effect skill set will effectively neutralize Kazuya's counterattack passive and contain his Attack Power boosted by \[Devil Gene].[/p][p][/p][p]We are confident that you will come up with clever strategies, as always, to overcome Kazuya.[/p][p]In addition to round clear rewards, please also look forward to various weekly rewards available in Arcade Battle.[/p][p][/p][p]Next, let’s talk about the minigames prepared for this collab.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Collab Limited Content: Minigames[/p][p][/p][p]For the Tekken collaboration, we have also prepared limited-time minigames to test your reflexes and controls.[/p][p]These games were inspired by Com2uS’ beloved title Super Action Hero 2.[/p][p]Veterans who enjoyed Super Action Hero 2 may feel a wave of nostalgia, while newcomers find them easy to pick up.[/p][p][/p][p]There are three minigames in total, and Wall Break Lv. 1 will open with the first update. Higher levels and the remaining minigames will be added in weekly updates. You can also compete against other Summoners through a weekly ranking system. Let’s explore the minigames one by one.[/p][p][/p][p]★ Minigame Overview[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]▶ Wall Break[/p][p]Wall Break is the first minigame to launch, where the goal is to destroy as many walls as possible within the time limit.[/p][p]Walls continuously appear from the left side of the screen. You can attack or throw them to break them, and each break slightly increases the time gauge.[/p][p][/p][p]The screen features a directional keypad on the left and punch/kick buttons on the right.[/p][p]Use these controls to break walls, avoid obstacles, or leap over them while avoiding falling off the shrinking stage.[/p][p]As levels increase, wall positions and patterns become more complex and faster.[/p][p]Your reflexes and positional awareness will be crucial to survival.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]▶ Vengeance is Mine (Early August)[/p][p]This combat-focused minigame challenges you to defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit.[/p][p]The controls are the same as Wall Break, but fast response and attack timing are vital.[/p][p][/p][p]As the stage progresses, enemy patterns become trickier. From Lv. 2 onward, you can also knock enemies off ledges.[/p][p]Later stages feature enemies in hero masks and even boss-size giants, adding tension and challenge.[/p][p][/p][p]Rather than just spamming attacks, you will need to time dodges, knockbacks, and counters strategically.[/p][p]There are various combos to discover, which you can learn in the Training Center on the game selection screen.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]▶ Jump Jump (Late August)[/p][p]This vertical-scrolling game has you climb higher and higher by jumping from platform to platform.[/p][p][/p][p]Platforms vary in shape and spacing. As difficulty rises, you will face moving, disappearing, or distant platforms.[/p][p]Occasionally, a jump item appears for a boost — but missing the timing may lead to a fall or a game over.[/p][p][/p][p]★ Minigame Mask System[/p][p]Each minigame includes a Mask system that changes your character’s appearance and grants special abilities.[/p][p]Masks are retro-styled and themed after Tekken Collab Characters and Summoners War Monsters, with unique stats tailored to each minigame.[/p][p][/p][p]You start with a basic mask and unlock more by achieving high scores or completing objectives.[/p][p]Some masks have special unlock conditions. Check the in-game guidelines for detailed requirements.[/p][p][/p][p]The first update introduces 20 masks, and 10 more will be added with each update. Try collecting them all![/p][p][/p][p]Take a look at the screenshot below for a preview of the masks.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can choose a mask and its stats before starting each minigame.[/p][p][/p][p]Also, as you play, the gauge at the bottom left will fill up. Once full, you enter "Transformation Mode," which is similar to a fever time that temporarily enhances performance.[/p][p][/p][p]Depending on the mask, this transformation may trigger "Giant Mode," dramatically increasing size and stats.[/p][p]Some masks improve jump speed or let you skip stages, making them strategically important for certain games.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Minigame Reward: Mask Collection[/p][p]You can collect masks and earn rewards for every five masks gathered.[/p][p]As mentioned, 10 new masks will be added with each update, letting you grow your collection steadily.[/p][p]Check the reward table below and look forward to seeing the newly added masks.[/p][p][/p][p]If you collect all available masks, your Giant Mode activation rate becomes 100% regardless of the mask.[/p][p]Try completing your mask collection to unlock this special effect.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]That was an overview of the minigames. [/p][p]Even though controls are simple, each level adds intensity, so we encourage everyone to give the minigames a try.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Other Collab Exclusive Content[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Tekken Collab Characters in Trial of Ascension[/p][p]Tekken Collab Characters will appear as bosses on every 10th floor in the ToA resetting on Aug. 14, 10:00 PM PDT.[/p][p]Please also look forward to the Tekken Scroll reward offered for clearing 50F in Normal difficulty[/p][p]* Collab-related ToA changes will be applied from Aug. 14, 10:00 PM to Sep. 14, 10:00 PM PDT.[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Arena Rival Master X[/p][p]As always, the mysterious Master X will return for this collab, available for battle once a day. [/p][p]Daily reset occurs at midnight in server time.[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Collab Limited Emojis[/p][p]Limited-time emojis featuring Tekken Collab Characters will be available as event rewards.[/p][p]Use them in chat to express yourself with friends![/p][p][/p][p]▶ Collab Missions and Rewards[/p][p]The collab mission system has been upgraded for this collab.[/p][p]Instead of check-in rewards, you can claim various rewards by earning Pass EXP.[/p][p]Complete three daily missions and five weekly missions during the collab to earn collab event currency and Pass EXP.[/p][p][/p][p]All daily missions reset at midnight and weekly missions every Monday at midnight (server time).[/p][p]Most missions can be easily completed during gameplay, so jump in and collect your rewards.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Collab Period & How to Obtain Collab Characters[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Collab Period[/p][p]: Jul. 30, 2025 - Oct. 1, 2025 PDT[/p][p][/p][p]This collab will go live on Jul. 30 PDT through the v8.8.0 update.[/p][p]The Original Monsters that replace the Collab Characters will be added in a future update.[/p][p]The update schedules are subject to change, and we will inform you via separate notices if they do.[/p][p][/p][p]▶ How to Obtain Collab Characters[/p][p]You can summon Collab Characters during the collab period through various summons and use them permanently.[/p][p]After the collab is over, Tekken Collab Characters can only be summoned using Tekken Scrolls.[/p][p][/p][p]※ You can summon Tekken Collab Characters from the following summon methods.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]- All scrolls that summon Nat 4 and Nat 5 Monsters can summon Collab Characters with a fixed chance.[/p][p](They cannot be summoned from Legendary Engrave Summons, Engraved Scrolls, or Engraved Summoning Pieces.[/p][p][/p][p]■ Additional Notes[/p][p][/p][p]▶ Weekly Arcade Battle and Minigame Period[/p][p]Arcade Battle and the minigames will be run for eight weeks, resetting each week at 12:00 AM (server time) on Mondays.[/p][p]Please keep in mind that the weekly duration for the first and last weeks is different from the rest.[/p][p][/p][p]New minigames will be added sequentially in future updates, but their exact opening time may vary.[/p][p]When the minigames are ready, we will announce them in the update notices.[/p][p][/p][p]
