2025.10.03 - October Playtest Build Notes

Hey Raiders,

Here's WHAT'S NEW since the September Playtest:

• Upgraded character shaders. Now NPCs and Raiders look super slick, even up close.
• Both body types now support abs, with various degrees of intensity.
• Improved Atelier UI, with zoom feature.
• New launch sequence cutscene.
• Navi Towers have been updated to feature randomized options such as scanning for Quests, barrels, resources, etc.
• The map UI got a small update with clearer icons and more feedback when scanning.
• Improved keyboard + mouse controls for menus and UI.
• Auto-countdown for launching missions.
• New enemy models.
• New guitar VFX.
• V1 Spanish + Brazilian Portuguese Localization

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Returning to Title Screen might cause an infinite loading screen, you'll need to force-close the game and re-open.
• If you invite friends to your game, make sure you are both on in same Region (for example US). Otherwise it won't work. You can change region at the top of the screen when opening the lobby window.

October Playtest is Here!

We're putting the finishing touches on the Surfpunk Playtest build and will be flipping the switch to live in just a few hours.[/p][p][/p][h2]🎮Playtest Details[/h2][p]If you've received an email from Steam inviting you to the playtest, then you've been selected and should see it pop in your library once we go live this afternoon. I know the email says its already available... apologies for the confusion there.

We are aiming to have the build ready by 3pm EDT (GMT-4) at the latest, but it may pop into your libraries sooner.

Please bear with us, it's the first time we run a playtest through Steam...! 😅

Surfpunk Alpha Playtest Sign Ups Now Open!

[p]Hey all,[/p][p][/p][p]We've got a lot coming in the next few months and are opening up our playtests via the Steam feature. You can now sign up by clicking "Request Access" directly on Surfpunk's Steam page.

Our next playtest is scheduled for the weekend of October 3-4-5.

Storm Mutator + NPC Quests

🎬Here's a quick update on our production: [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
  • [p]We're back in the swing of things and ready to ramp up playtests this fall. If you haven't already, please tell all your friends, we want to get lots of people playing so we can get loads of feedback to improve the game! Sign up at surfpunkgame.com.[/p]
  • [p]We're planning several weather mutators, but the first is thunder storms. When storms rise, the sea gets wavy, wind blows and lightning strikes![/p]
  • [p]In addition to standard mission objectives (EG; Evress), we're working on NPC quests that advance narrative and give additional goodies when completed.[/p]
  • [p]We've also got some shiny art improvements, new enemy characters models, environment art and more!

Progression Systems & Swimsuits

[p]Hey everyone,

🎬Here's a quick update on our production: [/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
  • [p]This last month, we've had to spend some time refactoring, meaning tweaking the code to allow the game to run better and with less errors. This will pave the wave for us to build content and features more easily going forward.[/p]
  • [p]Our main focus at the moment is overhauling the metagame to allow clearer progression systems, more 'goals' to strive for, and generally clearer UI.[/p]
  • [p]We've also tweaked our Raider models and added a few swimsuit options. It comes with the expectations of a beach-themed game!  After all this, we'll be back on new mission features and content.[/p]
  • [p]We've also got our full art team back onboard, so expect a lot of visual improvements in the coming months![/p]
[p]Summer time means vacation time, so our regular schedule for updates and playtests may get a little shaken, but we'll do our best to keep you informed! Thank you for your continued support.
