November Playtest Build Notes

Here's WHAT'S NEW for the November Playtest:

• Storm mutator balancing
 • Wind push effect while on land was reduced significantly
 • Wave amplitude was increased by 25% while the storm is active
 • Lightning strikes are now slightly less attracted to players

• Enemy balancing
 • 'Goomers' (green exploding Sumi) are now easier to kill in single player, and harder to kill with 4 players
 • 'Brawlers' (large arachnid Sumi) are now part of threat level enemy waves. They're faster and their attacks reach further
 • 'Brawlers' now have less HP
 • All large enemies are now more resistant to knockback effects

• General balancing
 • Game difficulty was generally lowered for single player
 • All Ultimate slot skills had their cooldown increased by 30 to 50%

• Anchor weapon balancing
 • Basic attacks are now 7% faster, but deal 10% less damage
 • Chain whip attacks now don't cause the player to move forward, so they can more effectively be used to remain at a distance

• Sword weapon balancing
 • Feast's Fiery mod nerf: Cooldown reduction is now 30% (down from 80%)
 • Pommel Strike: Fixed an issue where the Cooldown mod didn't bestow its effect
 • Whirlwind now lasts 40% longer

• Server selection is now accessible from the Title Screen
• Removed the hard time limit on Missions
• Added Simplified Chinese language option (v1)
• Fixed a bug where players in China couldn't load the game. It should work now if you play via the Hong Kong server
• Changed Quest ordering to allow smoother difficulty ramp up
• Teammates' Quests are now visible to all players
• Added beachball toys on the Beastship
• Improved online join flow

• New/Improved Art
 • Water now reflects sunlight, has foam edges, etc.
 • New Anchor & Guitar skill VFX
 • Vegetation art pass on islands

• New UI/UX for HUD & Forge

  2. [p]On November 7th, a limited number of players will be randomly selected into the playtest. You will receive an email on that day if you were selected.[/p]
  3. [p]Once you've been granted access, you'll be able to invite up to 3 of your Steam friends.[/p]

October Playtest Build Notes

Hey Raiders,

Here's WHAT'S NEW since the September Playtest:

• Upgraded character shaders. Now NPCs and Raiders look super slick, even up close.
• Both body types now support abs, with various degrees of intensity.
• Improved Atelier UI, with zoom feature.
• New launch sequence cutscene.
• Navi Towers have been updated to feature randomized options such as scanning for Quests, barrels, resources, etc.
• The map UI got a small update with clearer icons and more feedback when scanning.
• Improved keyboard + mouse controls for menus and UI.
• Auto-countdown for launching missions.
• New enemy models.
• New guitar VFX.
• V1 Spanish + Brazilian Portuguese Localization

KNOWN ISSUES:

• Returning to Title Screen might cause an infinite loading screen, you'll need to force-close the game and re-open.
• If you invite friends to your game, make sure you are both on in same Region (for example US). Otherwise it won't work. You can change region at the top of the screen when opening the lobby window.

October Playtest is Here!

We're putting the finishing touches on the Surfpunk Playtest build and will be flipping the switch to live in just a few hours.[/p][p][/p][h2]🎮Playtest Details[/h2][p]If you've received an email from Steam inviting you to the playtest, then you've been selected and should see it pop in your library once we go live this afternoon. I know the email says its already available... apologies for the confusion there.

We are aiming to have the build ready by 3pm EDT (GMT-4) at the latest, but it may pop into your libraries sooner.

Please bear with us, it's the first time we run a playtest through Steam...! 😅
