Devlog #60 - Supply Drop

Greetings Talented Gamers!

It's been another busy couple of weeks since the last Devlog. Not only has there been a lot of progress on Gamepad Support, but Alchemist has the first versions of 5(!) Talent Packages.

He'll be catching up with the other Classes quickly at this rate! Let's dive in...

Not Playing Favourites

It doesn't matter which Potion you value most, they'll all be getting support with the new round of Alchemist Packages! As usual, we'll leave a few surprises but here's a taste of what you can expect!

Every ingredient will be getting a Farmer Talent, these reward you for foraging specific ingredients by giving you more of that ingredient and a unique bonus to boot!

You can double the effectiveness of your Wave Potions!

Time to fill the screen with Bolts and mow down your enemies!

Runes will also be getting their own package. You'll have access to even more Rune Types, a Talent to power up all Runes you control and even a bonus for controlling a lot of Runes at the same time!

Finishing Touches

It's almost done! The first version of our full Gamepad Support is almost ready! This week we've been working on the Bandit's Shop Panel and the Alchemist's Crafting Panel.

These posed a unique challenge as they are quite different to the functionality of the rest of the game. We're quite happy with how it feels, but as always we'll be taking a close look at your feedback!

That about covers it for this time! There's quite a bit more to come... Bandit Talents, more Challenges and the usual drop of 20 new Achievements (here's to hoping they're as fun to chase as last update!).

For now though...

Devlog #59 - Entomophobia

Hello Talented Gamers!

This time I'm writing to you from a beach, but just because I'm on holiday doesn't mean there isn't a ton of new goodies to reveal!

Scythes and Flies

As promised here's a sneak peak at two of our new Talent Packages for Warrior and Summoner.

Warrior will be enhancing their Fear status effect with the Horror Package. Worried about getting too many ways to Fear the same enemy? You shouldn't be with this payoff!

Summoner, on the other hand, will be upgrading their Flies with the Rotten Package.

...and this Package will give you access to more Flies than you could ever need with the Polluted Contract Ability

Risks and Rewards

A suit of new Challenges are in the works, with some additions we're very excited to share! As with our previous round, some challenges will offer you a more classic Talented experience with a few additional rules and some will be a completely unique way to play.

We're going back in Talented time with this Challenge - before Abilities there was just you, your weapon and tons of enemies to pop.

Can you really beat a run on Warrior while spamming WASD? Time to find out... And of course you'll be rewarded for your efforts with one of my personal favourite skins yet!

And last but not least we have on of our most ambitious Challenges. Inspired by Deck Building Card games you can now play a completely different version of Alchemist.

Fill your Deck with the right Abilities and hope you draw what you need in time!

Speaking of Challenges...

One of the more complex screens for our Gamepad Support implementation was the Run Setup Panel.

With the goal of keeping the Gamepad implementation as close to mouse and keyboard as possible, we've opted to keep sections of run setup visible at once.

That's a wrap! Things are heating up for the 0.14 release already, next time I'll have the pleasure of revealing our very first Alchemist Talent Packages! Until then...

Devlog #58 - UUDDLRLRBA

Hello Talented Gamers!

Work on the new update is well under way, and there's already quite a bit of information to share. I want to first thank everyone who signed up to the Beta Tester after the last devlog was posted. We're expecting the first 0.14 build very shortly with a *very early* version of Gamepad Support to test and some new Talent Packages.

Let's dive in to what's been added so far!

[Press Start to Play]

It's the big ticket item of this update, and our second most requested feature... Gamepad Support is finally coming!

We've been working hard on our first working version, adding full support to all of the major screens in the game...

On the Talent Tree you can either use the Left Stick to navigate between Talent Connections or freely pan around using the Right Stick.

We've done our best to include all of the Quality of Life features such as toggling the Stats Panel (Right Trigger) and hiding all Purchased Talents on the Talent Tree (Pressing Right Stick Down).

Of course we're fully expecting that there's more we can do to improve the controls after their first release, so we'll be keeping our ear to the ground for feedback!

Expanding the Toolbox

This update will see the completion of the final Talent Packages for Archer, Wizard, Warrior and Summoner. You can still expect changes to these as we improve and re-balance the game, but the core ideas are starting to get locked in. Let's start with Archer and Wizard...

Note: As usual expect placeholder Art and Values, this will all change as we approach release!

Archer gets access to a Trap Package, allowing you to blow up your enemies in ever-increasing ways!

...and why not get a little something for yourself as you do!

Wizard

Talented historians will remember the days of old, when Abilities could Critically Strike!

Well those days are back, and better yet there's some extra Ability Crit support.

Another day, another devlog! Next time we'll be running revealing some Warrior and Summoner Talent Packages and showing off even more of our adventures into the Gamepad Dimension!

Devlog #57 - Master Controller

Hello Talented Gamers!

What an eventful update launch we've had this time! The Endless Replayability Fest has added even more members to our community and we're very thankful for all of the new feedback and ideas that have come with that!

Speaking of the new... let's take a look at what is coming in the 0.14 update!

Gamepad Support

One of the most requested features of all time is finally dropping, Talented is getting full Controller Support. All menus, the Talent Tree and the core Gameplay itself will be navigable using a Gamepad so there's quite a bit to implement!

We'll be releasing it early to our Beta Testers so do sign up if you want to help us forge ahead with that!

The Talent Drop

We have our biggest Talent Package drop ever planned in 0.14. Every Class will be getting some love with:
  • 2 New Talent Packages for Archer
  • 2 New Talent Packages for Wizard
  • 2 New Talent Packages for Warrior
  • 2 New Talent Packages for Summoner
  • 3 New Talent Packages for Bandit
  • 4 New Talent Packages for Alchemist

We're particularly excited for the new Alchemist Packages which will each focus on enhancing one of the four core Ability Types.

Trials of Today

More Challenges are coming! We're mostly happy with how the first 3 of each Class' Challenges landed (even if there are a few balance outliers that we will continue to address!), so we'll be trying to hit the same mark with out new ones.

You can expect 4 new Challenges for each Class, which means more Skins and more Legendary Talents to unlock! Yipee!

Peak Performance

As we add more and more stacking systems to the Talented Combat system it's only natural that we run into performance issues. We've dedicated time in the 0.14 development cycle to improve performance (especially in Eternal Nightmare).

Of course you can expect the usual burst of Achievements, Bug Fixes, Balance Changes and QoL improvements. We'll be going into more detail on all of this with our future devlogs, until then...

Hotfix 0.13.29

- Increased the limit on Lance's to 60 (up from 30)
- Fixed a bug where Megalophobia Fearing Tatty's would cause them to become invincible
- Fixed a bug where switching between Challenges of the same Class would sometimes cause that Challenge's Talents to carry over between them
