Demo Update 26. January 2024

What's new in Skogdal?

We made a big update to the demo. We are planning a new big update in a few weeks, which will add new locations and lots of new cards.

In this update, we got one big new change, and then multiple smaller fixes and new cards:

BIG: we added a new feature to the drawing mechanic of the game. Now you can pay energy to draw additional cards, the first time you activate it in a turn, it cost 1, then 2, 3 etc. We also included a toggle that let's you automatically spend remaining energy to draw cards, when you end your turn. This has been the aspect of the game we have gotten the most feedback on so far, as it is boring to get stuck in the scenarios where you only draw 1 card every turn. For us, we want to keep the design of drawing cards more similar to traditional card games, rather than the more typical roguelike deckbuilder approach of a new hand of cards every turn, as it both forces us to design the game a bit differently, and it also leads to different dynamics. The skill of building a deck that handles cards as a resource is also an interesting aspect we like. We feel this solution both fixes the issues that has been flagged, while maintaining our vision for the game!

Added new cards to the game, as you can see in images here. One major inclusion here, is more cards to support a Bleed strategy. We also added a few more experimental cards, now we're starting to get into the groove of more unique cards for our game (a lot more juicy cards to be added in the next update)!

Improved tooltips, among this tooltip and card previews to enemy intended actions.

Lot's of minor fixes and adjustments, among these:
  • Fixed a bug where spray effect on cards would sometimes be applied also to newly generated cards after affect had been applied.
  • More variations to guitar riffs sound effects.
  • Text updates and fixed some typos.
  • Preview of source cards in card tooltip view (left click), for cards created by other cards or fused from other cards.
  • Fixed visual glitches when camera shakes.
  • Fixed bug where sometimes cards would have different inconsistent sizes in hand.
  • And a lot more

Thank you everyone who has tested the game and given us feedback!
