The Long Wait Is Over: New Stories and New Mechanics Are Here (9 Days Left)
Hello MiLords and MiLadies!
[p]Over these 10 days, I’ll be sharing details about our big update. Thank you for all the support. Today’s post is about the changes that will shape MiLord in the months ahead.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p]
Narrator
[p]We now have a subtitle-style narrator that speaks directly to the player. The game doesn’t just show events anymore, it occasionally comments on them. It is a small touch, but it makes the story feel more alive.[/p][p][/p]
New Stories
[p]This is the main focus of the update, and it directly answers a very fair criticism from the reviews: “The game is short and stories repeat.” There are now 780 stories across 8 categories, including 120 general events. We also added 5 factions: Church, Listeners, Followers, Steelborn and Gilded. Each faction brings its own conflicts and events into the world. In short, the same story loop is no longer a thing.[/p][p][/p]
New Characters
[p]More stories means more characters. From now on, stories will have unique faces tied to them. I am pretty sure you will get to know some of them well. And yes, I am seriously considering adding my goat :)[/p][p][/p]
Music
[p]More than 10 new music tracks and ambient sounds are being added. The world feels fuller and less empty now. I am working with a talented sound designer, and the first track is already finished. You will get to hear it in the update 9 days from now.[/p][p][/p]
Game Design Changes
[p]You asked for this a lot, and it finally happened. The Action Point system is gone. Completely. You can now listen to every story that comes your way.[/p][p][/p][p]To keep the balance of the game, a construction limit has been added. You can build as many structures at the same time as the level of your main building. It turned out to be more fun this way.[/p][p][/p]
My personal pride: VSM 2.0 (Virtual State Machine)
[p]This is MiLord’s new backbone. A brand-new dialogue and story system that I coded from scratch. I could have bought a system from the Unity Asset Store, but I wanted full control. That is why this quiet period took so long. I was building this. I made you wait, but I believe it was worth it.[/p][p][/p][p]Now we have a system where stories can be added without writing any code. This speeds up development a lot and opens the door to modding and Steam Workshop in the future. One day, we will be able to write community stories together and add them easily.[/p][p][/p][p]I hope you like these changes. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. If you have questions, ask away. I will read and reply. Thank you for not leaving me alone on this solo journey.[/p][p][/p][p]See you in tomorrow’s update.[/p]
