The Long Wait Is Over: New Stories and New Mechanics Are Here (9 Days Left)
Hello MiLords and MiLadies!
[p]Over these 10 days, I’ll be sharing details about our big update. Thank you for all the support. Today’s post is about the changes that will shape MiLord in the months ahead.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Narrator
[p]We now have a subtitle-style narrator that speaks directly to the player. The game doesn’t just show events anymore, it occasionally comments on them. It is a small touch, but it makes the story feel more alive.[/p][p][/p]
New Stories
[p]This is the main focus of the update, and it directly answers a very fair criticism from the reviews: “The game is short and stories repeat.” There are now 780 stories across 8 categories, including 120 general events. We also added 5 factions: Church, Listeners, Followers, Steelborn and Gilded. Each faction brings its own conflicts and events into the world. In short, the same story loop is no longer a thing.[/p][p][/p]
New Characters
[p]More stories means more characters. From now on, stories will have unique faces tied to them. I am pretty sure you will get to know some of them well. And yes, I am seriously considering adding my goat :)[/p][p][/p]
Music
[p]More than 10 new music tracks and ambient sounds are being added. The world feels fuller and less empty now. I am working with a talented sound designer, and the first track is already finished. You will get to hear it in the update 9 days from now.[/p][p][/p]
Game Design Changes
[p]You asked for this a lot, and it finally happened. The Action Point system is gone. Completely. You can now listen to every story that comes your way.[/p][p][/p][p]To keep the balance of the game, a construction limit has been added. You can build as many structures at the same time as the level of your main building. It turned out to be more fun this way.[/p][p][/p]
My personal pride: VSM 2.0 (Virtual State Machine)
[p]This is MiLord’s new backbone. A brand-new dialogue and story system that I coded from scratch. I could have bought a system from the Unity Asset Store, but I wanted full control. That is why this quiet period took so long. I was building this. I made you wait, but I believe it was worth it.[/p][p][/p][p]Now we have a system where stories can be added without writing any code. This speeds up development a lot and opens the door to modding and Steam Workshop in the future. One day, we will be able to write community stories together and add them easily.[/p][p][/p][p]I hope you like these changes. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. If you have questions, ask away. I will read and reply. Thank you for not leaving me alone on this solo journey.[/p][p][/p][p]See you in tomorrow’s update.[/p]

Big Announcement: MiLord 0.30 Update Is Coming Soon (10 Days Left)
Milords and Miladies!
[p]
As I mentioned in the previous update, MiLord is now a one-person kingdom. On the throne, in the code, fighting the bugs, and guarding the coffee, there’s only me (oh, and the goat in the barn). But here’s the good news. I didn’t abandon the project. In fact, I spent the past six months rebuilding the game from the ground up. From now on, you’ll be hearing from me a lot more.

[/p][p]The story system has been completely overhauled. Everything now runs on a data-based structure. That means I can add new stories, branches, events, and surprises much faster than before. The old system caused a chain reaction of problems with every addition, now the system actually encourages adding content. In short, the era of “waiting months for a single update” is over.
[/p]
New stories are on the way!
[p]During this process, the old 24 stories were removed (they were honestly pretty bad, let’s admit it), but 30–40 new stories are on the way. On top of that, around 650 more are waiting on my desk. So content-wise, we’re no longer hitting the brakes, we’re hitting the gas.

[/p][p]And it’s not just the story system. This update adds a brand-new characters. There are new music tracks and ambient sounds to make the world feel more alive. And that famous Action Point system many of you complained about? Completely gone. Now you can take as many actions as you want in a single turn. No more “two clicks and my day is over.”
[/p][p]A small heads-up. Because of this massive infrastructure change, translations in 12 languages may temporarily break after the update. That’s normal, the new system touches everything. But translations will be brought back online, and I’ll share progress step by step.
[/p][p]And this is only the beginning. Next up are visual upgrades and animations for all buildings on the map. Then a day–night cycle, the faction system, and of course new characters, new events, new stories. In other words, the era of silence is officially over. [/p][p][/p]
Thank you for your unwavering support!! You're GOAT!

[p]To sum it up: I’m solo, but the game is now much faster to develop than before. Thank you for keeping your trust in me during this period. I’ll earn it with the updates coming one after another. The big update drops in 10 days. Thank you everyone!

Would you like to help shape the game? What kind of characters and stories do you want to see in MiLord? I’ll be reading your comments.[/p]

One Dev to Rule Them All

[p]Dear MiLords & MiLadies,[/p][p] I wanted to highlight what's been happening behind the scenes since our last post, which was quite some time ago.[/p][p] Right now, the MiLord team is made up of only one developer: me. Without more hands on the project, progress has naturally slowed as compared to before. That being said, I am still entirely committed to seeing MiLord through to the end. It's taking longer than anticipated, but I'm working to advance the game every week. I can't express how much your kindness, support, and patience mean to me; they are the reason I can keep going through the hardest times.[/p][p] I'll keep posting updates whenever I have something noteworthy to present. Thank you for supporting MiLord along this adventure.[/p][p] (Yes, I almost forgot, there’s a goat on the team — apparently that already qualifies us as the G.O.A.T.s.)[/p][p]— The (currently very small) MiLord Team[/p]
