Dev Blog Vol.4 - So who contributed to the battle?š
[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p]This is Toru Nakamura, Director of Vivid World.[/p][p][/p][p]Today, Iād like to introduce something weāve been quietly working on behind the scenes...[/p][p]Actually, it was your voices that inspired us to bring it to life:[/p]
The All-New š¤Battle Log Systemš¤
[p]
[/p]
š¤The voice, āItās hard to tell whoās contributing in battleā¦ā
[p][/p][p]One day on Discord, one member left a comment that really stuck with me:[/p][p][/p]
āItās hard to tell which unit is actually contributing during battle!ā
[p][/p][p]And I thought⦠Yep. Guilty as charged.[/p][p]Maybe the battle UI feels a bit too hectic at times.[/p][p]To be honest, this was something we had quietly been thinking about too.[/p][p]So when I saw your feedback, I couldnāt help but nod in agreementš[/p][p][/p][p]That said, between all the back-and-forth of unit actions... and the need to display status effects in real time...thereās no way to avoid having information rapidly appear and disappear during combat.[/p][p]But still, we felt we could do better.[/p][p][/p][p]So after several brainstorms with the dev team, we challenged ourselves to find a solution that would be more intuitive, more readable, and more satisfying to use.[/p][p]And as a resultā¦[/p]
A completely new system was born!š«
[p][/p]
šSee Contributions in Real Time: Introducing the "Battle Log UI"
[p][/p][p]With this new system, a damage graph now appears on the right side of the screen during battle.[/p][p]Each unitās total damage dealt is tracked and updated in real time, right before your eyes.[/p][p]
[/p][p]The initial order of the graph matches your partyās formation.[/p][p]Once battle begins, the graph automatically reorders in real time based on damage dealt, so you can instantly see who's pulling their weight on the field.[/p][p]And yes⦠Lemuriaās damage is tracked too.[/p][p](And she often performs better than you might expect!)[/p][p][/p][p]As for the graph itself, itās scaled relatively.[/p][p](The highest damage value is always displayed as 100%, and the rest adjust proportionally)[/p][p]
[/p]
šReview and Reflect Anytime
[p][/p][p]Even after a battle ends, you can still open the battle log window.[/p][p]Before jumping into the next fight, itās a great chance to look back at the final results and see how everyone did.[/p][p][/p][p]For those of you (like me) who get totally absorbed in the heat of battle and forget to notice whoās actually doing what, this is your chance to catch those hidden MVPsš¤£[/p][p]You might discover some new favorite units by examining how much they contributed without ever realizing it![/p][p][/p][p]Just a heads-up: the log resets after each battle, so itās really designed to help you reflect on who contributed what in that one specific fight.[/p][p]Also, if the screen starts feeling too crowded, just tap the "āļø" icon on the right side of the screen to minimize the damage graph and keep things tidy.[/p][p]
[/p]
šIn Closing
[p][/p][p]This Battle Log system wouldnāt exist if it werenāt for your feedback![/p][p]We took the theme of āvisualizing contributionsā, which may sound simple, but is incredibly important, and we worked hard to present it in a way thatās both instantly clear and doesnāt break the gameās pacing.[/p][p]This feature marks another important step in Vivid Worldās evolution.[/p][p]When the gameās out, I really hope youāll give it a try![/p][p][/p][p]Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end![/p][p]As for the next dev blog topic⦠well, truth is, I havenāt decided yet![/p][p]Until then, Iāll see you in the next dev blog.[/p][p][/p][p]Toru Nakamura[/p]
