Patch 0.749 Full Controller Support, Steam Deck Support and Steam Cloud

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p]With Patch 0.749, Magic Inn now has full controller support and is fully playable on the Steam Deck! In addition, Steam Cloud saves are now supported![/p][p]Notes:[/p]
  • [p]Players on Steam Deck may experience crashes when visiting the market at night. As a temporary workaround, please go to Settings → Graphics and turn off Fog. I’ll continue working on performance optimizations.[/p]
  • [p]With the current Steam Cloud configuration, different Steam accounts on the same computer will share the same save files.[/p]
[p]This patch also includes two critical crash fixes—one during inn decoration and another when opening a chest with a controller.[/p][p]Next, I’ll focus on fixing more bugs, including staff AI issues, as well as adding quality-of-life features like manual saves and bulk purchases.[/p][p]In our Discord, players have also provided great feedback on some plot issues, which I’ll be improving soon. More updates are coming, and a huge thanks to our playtesters in Discord for helping us find and report these bugs![/p][p]Summary of this patch:[/p]
  • [p]Critical Bug Fix: Fixed a crash when decorating the inn. If a player collected an item attached to another object first, the game would crash when attempting to collect the attached object.[/p]
  • [p]Critical Bug Fix: Fixed a crash when opening a chest using a controller.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where, after changing screen resolution, the cutting minigame could spawn UI elements in abnormal positions, preventing completion and causing the player to get stuck.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: Added the ability to use a controller to select different regions and destinations on the world map.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: Players can now use controllers to purchase hiring services.[/p]
  • [p]Controls Adjustment: Simplified entering Build Mode or Magic Mode—now accessible with a single key instead of a key combination.[/p]
  • [p]Simplified Controls: Removed assigning items to the item wheel. Items can now only be used directly from the inventory menu.[/p]
  • [p]Steam Deck Fix: Balanced the cutting minigame difficulty on Steam Deck, which was previously harder than on PC due to resolution differences.[/p]
  • [p]Improvement: Added missing icons for certain conversation cards.[/p]
  • [p]Small Fix: The chest under the loan stall is no longer interactable.[/p]
  • [p]Small Fix: Changed the developer command key from F12 to F8 so it no longer conflicts with the screenshot key.[/p]
  • [p]Dialogue Fix: Corrected dialogue with the Caretaker that was mistakenly assigned to the wrong character.[/p]
  • [p]UI Fix: Adjusted the location of control mappings in the staff management menu.[/p]
  • [p]Steam Cloud Support: Save files are now synced with Steam Cloud.[/p]

Patch 0.748 Controller Fixes

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]Today’s update focuses mainly on fixes related to controller support. One major feature still missing for controllers is the ability to select a region (such as the Central Valley) during Fire Travel. This will take a bit more time to implement correctly.[/p][p][/p][p]In the meantime, new bugs have been reported. I’ve read through all of them and am actively working on fixes. I know there are still quite a few unresolved issues, and I want to sincerely apologize and thank you for your patience.[/p][p][/p][p]Lastly, the Magic Inn Demo has been updated with the latest improvements. However, if you previously played the demo and are now starting the Early Access version, you will unfortunately need to restart. The demo save file still has certain plot and upgrade locks in place. This will be addressed in a future update.[/p][p][/p][p]Changes in this patch:[/p]
  • [p]Interaction Fix: Improved interaction when NPCs are seated—it’s now easier to talk to them from the right side of the table.[/p]
  • [p]Interaction Fix: Adjusted the position of interaction hints for tables and the bartending stand.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: Use the left and right triggers to switch tabs during character customization.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: You can now use the controller to use items in your inventory.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: You can now use the controller to click on the world map to enter the outer view.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: Disabled all controller-triggered actions in the guest list, as these features are not yet ready.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: You can now use the controller to accept or reject a contract.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where, during card games with a controller, the game would sometimes incorrectly display topic cards, wasting the player’s turn.[/p]

Patch 0.747 Critical Bug fix

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]The previous patch (0.746) introduced a bug that prevented players from leaving the market or using Fire Travel.[/p][p][/p][p]Patch 0.747 fixes this issue.[/p][p][/p][p]Sorry for the inconvenience![/p]

Patch 0.746 Controls and Interactions Overhaul and Bug Fixes

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]This patch introduces a major overhaul of the controls and interaction system. As many of you have experienced, interacting with objects in Magic Inn could feel finicky, unstable, and unpleasant. This update aims to resolve those issues.[/p][p][/p][p]Combined with the previous patch’s camera improvements, the game should now feel smoother, more intuitive to control, and more reliable. It might not be perfect yet, and I will continue refining it. Please let me know if the controls still feel awkward—your feedback would be a tremendous help![/p][p][/p][p]Tomorrow, my focus will finally return to adding Steam Deck support, implementing Steam Cloud saves, and of course, addressing more reported bugs.[/p][p][/p][p]Summary of Changes:[/p]
  • [p]Improvement: Completely overhauled the interaction system to replace janky controls and unintuitive object interactions with a smoother, more responsive experience.[/p]
  • [p]Camera Improvement: Players can now aim higher with the camera.[/p]
  • [p]Improvement: For interactions that require holding a key, the game now displays a “hold” instruction.[/p]
  • [p]Improvement: Cleaning or crafting actions will now automatically stop once completed.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Sleeping early no longer causes players to skip important end-of-day events and miss story progression tasks. These events will now be scheduled for the next day.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Sprinting now begins when the Shift key is pressed, not when it is released.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Fixed the functionality of the Convince card.[/p]
  • [p]Controller Fix: Resolved an issue where the game would keep swapping control mappings between PC and controller.[/p]

Patch 0.745 Emergency Bug Fix

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p]I’ve just realized that my previous control fix accidentally broke Luka’s letter tutorial, which could block many players from progressing. I sincerely apologize for this mistake.[/p][p]This patch addresses the following issues:[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Completing Luka’s letter task would prompt the player to press “Ctrl” to collect, but pressing it had no effect.[/p]
  • [p]Bug Fix: Occasionally, guests would arrive with an invalid emotion, which could cause the game to crash.[/p]
[p]Thank you for your understanding![/p]
