The wait is nearly over. Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter launches on 28th Jan, bringing a new chapter of brutality and bloodshed to the Ratdom. Set in the northern frontiers years after the original game, Tails of Iron 2 introduces a new protagonist: Arlo, heir to the Warden of the Wastes. As he battles a re-emerging ancient enemy, the stakes are higher, the challenges more intense, and the tools at his disposal more formidable than ever.

For the first time in the Tails of Iron series, wield the raw power of elemental magic. After communing with the ancient rat gods, Arlo gains the ability to command Electric, Poison, Fire, and Ice—formidable forces to help turn the tide of any battle against the nefarious might of the Darkwing army.

Each of the Elementa offers unique advantages: Poison spreads through enemy ranks, dealing damage over time; Fire scorches foes with blazing flame blasts; Ice freezes enemies in place with blistering blizzards; and Electric calls down lightning to smite and stun opponents.

Throughout the lands, you’ll discover shrines devoted to specific Elementa. Interacting with these sacred sites empowers Arlo further, unlocking upgraded versions of these abilities to pack an even greater punch.

A new saga is about to begin… We’re thrilled to announce that Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is officially launching in February 2025! Get ready to take up the mantle of Arlo, son of the Warden of the North, pick up a sharpened battle axe (or broadsword or spear… there are plenty of weapons of choice!) and defend your homeland after the devastating attack by the Dark Wings - an ancient evil from the frozen wastelands beyond.

In our brand new trailer, we’ve unveiled fresh gameplay footage showcasing Arlo’s brutal journey of survival and revenge. The Viking-esque aesthetic of this new story is emphasized by Fever Ray’s haunting 2008 track, ‘If I Had a Heart’ – we think it’s a fitting accompaniment to the harsh and unforgiving world Arlo must navigate through in the game.

The new release date ensures we can provide the very best experience possible, and we absolutely cannot wait to reveal what’s in store for would-be vikings come early 2025.

[h3]Your Feedback & Next steps[/h3]

We were truly humbled to see so many of you dive into the demo during June’s Steam Next Fest. Your enthusiasm and support means everything to us, and we’ve been listening closely to your feedback. Many of you enjoyed the new gameplay mechanics we introduced, but there was one point that needed a little attention – the weapon sharpening mechanic.

Thanks to your invaluable feedback, we’re making the following adjustments to the game at launch:

• Whetstones will now act more like weapon buffs; when used, they will increase the weapon's damage output for a limited time, similar to the poison mechanic in the original Tails of Iron.
  
• Weapons will no longer dull, resulting in bounce back and the inability to hit enemies. This has been entirely removed.
  
• Managing the ‘health’ of the whetstone is no longer a requirement.
  
• Whetstones are now purchasable at the shop and can also be found in the world and as an enemy drop.
  

We believe these changes will make for a more fluid and enjoyable experience, and we’re incredibly grateful for your input, which has been essential in refining the game. With these improvements, we’re looking forward to bringing you an adventure truly worthy of the Viking sagas of old!
