Playtest Version Updates (and Free Demo)

[p]Hey everyone! 💜 [/p][p]Here’s a new update packed with long-awaited fixes and improvements [c](both for the Free Demo version and the Playtest version with historical mode, for our backers and Movielovers connected on our Discord server)[/c]. Thank you so much for all your reports and feedback, they help us every single day!
[/p][h3]🐛 Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • [p]Fixed incorrect placement of doors and objects.[/p]
  • [p]Objects in rooms are now properly removed when the room is deleted.[/p]
  • [p]NPCs no longer get stuck after removing rooms or objects.
    ⚠️We’re also working on expanding all the activities NPCs can perform inside the cinema: from observing and judging posters, to sitting down while waiting, and more. As we add new equipment, your customers will feel even more taken care of![/p]
  • [p]Fixed the 1900 mission + updated the mission text box (⚠️ still needs more testing and further improvements will follow).[/p]
  • [p]Tutorial: fixed an issue that caused it to break after pressing ESC.[/p]
[p][/p][h3]✨ Improvements (long overdue!)[/h3]
  • [p]Camera overhaul: smoother movement and zoom, mouse-wheel panning, improved rotation.[/p]
  • [p]Improved camera focus when right-clicking an object.[/p]
  • [p]Tutorial texts and speech bubbles: some had disappeared or were unclear. Thanks for your patience![/p]
[p][/p][h2]🆕 New Features[/h2][h3]Statistics Page (a basic version – work in progress 📊)[/h3][p]The very first version of the Statistics Page is now available. More data, graphs, and tools will be added soon. Let us know what you’d love to see next![/p][p][/p][h2]🔮 Coming in the next update[/h2]
  • [p]UI improvements for the Statistics Page and several other small refinements.
    ⚠️ Note for the 1900 level: the page cannot be closed for now. As a temporary workaround, click on another menu to exit. A brand-new interface is on the way![/p]
  • [p]Updated special mission text box for the 1900 level (new interface included).[/p]
  • [p]General text improvements: better size, readability, and full localization. Some lines were still outside the translation system—we’re integrating everything.[/p]
  • [p]Bathrooms: they are currently out of service (sorry for the inconvenience!). It seems they “lost” their functionality in recent updates 😅. They will be operational again soon![/p]
  • [p]Most importantly… thanks to the arrival of our new developer, we’re now working on the Save System! 👉 Soon you’ll finally be able to save your game 🎉 This will fix several issues and make the whole experience much more enjoyable.[/p]
  • [p]And, of course, other bug fixes![/p]

Dev Autumn Update

[p]Hey everyone! How are you doing? 💜 [/p][p]We noticed that our last two updates were hidden in the feed, so, here we are again, posting in the right category to keep you all up to date with the latest news and next steps for Movierooms! We’ve recently updated the free demo, fixing several bugs reported by you. [/p][p]Over the next few days, we’ll focus on these improvements:[/p][p][/p][p]🏗️ Building Features[/p]
  • [p]Doors placement – currently, adding doors on two adjacent walls can create a bug. We’re working on unifying the system so that the same door type can be used across all room categories.[/p]
  • [p]Wall placement – preventing walls from being built inside other walls.[/p]
  • [p]Alert notifications – better alerts for unclear actions (for example: if you have a projection room but no projectionist hired, the movie won’t start and no audience will come).

[p]🎞️ Historical Mode[/p][p]For those who have already tried the Historical Mode, here’s what’s coming soon:[/p]
  • [p]Improved clarity in building your first room in the 1900s cinema

  • [p]We’ve noticed many of you want to build multiple rooms, this will be possible from the following eras! The 1900 level is meant to be a small, resource-limited introductory tutorial, focused on understanding the basics.

We’re not on vacation, we’re at Gamescom (well, almost)!

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]We know we’ve been a little quiet lately… but we promise: we’re not on holiday 🌴 we’re knee-deep in preparations for Gamescom 2025, where we’ll be showcasing Movierooms at our very own booth! 🎉[/p][p]🎮 Setting up a stand from scratch at one of the biggest international events is a real management mission, fitting, right? That’s exactly what our game is all about! 😄[/p][p][/p][h3]Here's what we’re dealing with behind the scenes:[/h3][p]✅ Designing a full 12 m² booth (purchased space + full setup) with a demo station, custom graphics and promotional materials
✅ Producing a foldable wall banner using sublimated nautical fabric, light enough to fit in our suitcase (!)
✅ Hunting down collapsible chairs and gear we can travel with (yep, renting everything is just too expensive 😅)
✅ Planning meals & staying sane with our self-made lunch/dinner kits during the intense show days
✅ Finding free parties & events where we can network (even when we’re dead tired🥴) ✅ Space optimisation: from the table and PC layout to the logistics of hanging the tent without ruining the panels (and thus avoiding any fines). [/p][p]✅ Organizing fun contests and mini-events at the booth over the 5-day show ✅ Requesting USK certification (mandatory and... let’s just say, financially painful😅)
✅ Reaching out to publishers, biz devs, streamers, and fellow indies, networking is vital!
✅ And of course… continuing development to deliver a smoother, better demo![/p][p][/p][p]💌 Stay tuned!
