Welcome to The Chronos Event, a dynamic, third-person roguelite shooter where you wield the power to manipulate time to your advantage. In The Chronos Event, you can rewind crucial moments and engage in combat alongside your past selves, harnessing the tactics of time travel to battle overwhelming odds in a near-future sci-fi world.
To kick things off, we’ll cover Superjump Games and how it came to be, how we came up with ideas for the game, and some of the lore behind The Chronos Event.
Let's start by introducing our team and how Superjump Games came to be.
[h2]The Precursor - Before Time Immemorial[/h2]
Like many great partnerships, our story begins with four game creators who started on separate paths. As fate would have it, our journeys eventually converged, bringing us together to form what would become Superjump Games.
In 2014, a small but passionate team at Aegis Interactive, armed with programming skills but lacking artistic talent, crossed paths with the creative minds at Orb Interactive. Orb had a trio of talented artists but no coding expertise. It was a classic indie game dev story - two small teams, each with complementary skills, discovering they could create something special together.
We set off to work on what would become our first hit, the mobile game Gods of Olympus. Our goal was to bring something fresh to the mobile gaming space, and we were thrilled with how the game turned out. Moreover, we found that we loved working together! The collaboration between our teams was incredibly smooth, natural, everything we'd hoped for.
It didn't take long for us to realize that by officially joining forces, we could keep this creative spark alive and keep taking on new challenges. This partnership laid the foundation for Superjump Games and set the stage for our move into PC and console game development.
The concept for The Chronos Event emerged from our team's passion for innovative gameplay mechanics and science fiction stories. We drew inspiration from the gunplay and mobility of fast-paced shooters like Vanquish and Max Payne. Another great influence was Portal and its idea of connecting points in space.
Our goal was to create a game that combined intense action with a unique twist: instead of connecting points in space, we wanted players to connect points in time. This idea of manipulating time in a world of science fiction gunplay became the core vision for The Chronos Event.
As we developed the gameplay concept, the story of The Chronos Event naturally began to take shape. We envisioned a protagonist who would need to rely on intelligence, advanced technology, tactics, and quick thinking to overcome seemingly impossible odds. Dr. Alicia De Leon emerged as our central character - a research scientist thrust into extraordinary circumstances, forced to use her own inventions in ways she never anticipated. With this character and narrative in place, the pieces of our game began falling into place.
With our team assembled and our vision clear, we were ready to bring The Chronos Event to life. Now, let's take a closer look at the world and the story we're excited to share with you!
[h2]The Setting - The World of The Chronos Event[/h2]
The Chronos Event takes place in the near-future world of 2039. Global tensions and technological advancements have humanity standing at the brink of a new era. In these uncertain and tense days, the secretive Vanguard Facility stands at the forefront of cutting-edge research, most notably in the field of temporal manipulation.
Vanguard's temporal manipulation work goes beyond the theoretical. Their crowning achievement is the development of the ChronoSuit, a device that allows for short-interval time travel. Building on this breakthrough, Vanguard has set its sights on more ambitious goals, leading to the creation of the far more advanced Chronos Device, a device which allows time travel over enormous temporal ranges.
[h2]The Protagonist - The Accidental Heroine[/h2]
At the heart of this research is Dr. Alicia De Leon, a physicist whose theories on time travel underpin the work at Vanguard. The daughter of prominent Venezuelan physicist Arturo De Leon, Alicia has been instrumental in the development of both the ChronoSuit and the Chronos Device, a machine with the power to alter the course of history itself.
As with so many scientific breakthroughs, the consequences of Dr. De Leon's work were far-reaching... and unexpected.
During the maiden activation of the Chronos Device, something went badly wrong. Instead of a controlled experiment, the device opened a gateway in time that Alicia could not control. In the chaos, an army of mercenaries from a war-torn future invaded the facility, turning it into a battleground.
This moment was the Chronos Event.
As the battle began, an unexpected figure emerged from the Chronos Device - Alicia's future self, who she calls "Mentor". Weathered by years of hardship, the Mentor arrived with a dire warning of a catastrophic timeline and a long shot plan to change the course of history.
As players, you'll step into the role of Dr. Alicia De Leon. Armed with the ChronoSuit and your wits, you'll fight your way through a facility under siege, and grapple with the consequences of your own creation. Your choices, skills, and tactics will shape not just Alicia's fate, but the human race’s as well!

In our playable demo, you'll take control of Dr. Alicia De Leon as she navigates through the chaos of the invaded Vanguard Facility. You're hurrying to intervene in a critical attack on ANGIE, the facility's superintelligent AI. The attackers are working to turn ANGIE against the facility and everyone in it, and it's up to you to stop them.
