Patch 0.10.2 — HE’S SUCH A D*CK
Hello, Horde!
Two days ago, we unleashed hell—literally and figuratively. Our biggest update since Be My Horde launched was a massive success! Player numbers skyrocketed, we received a flood of new reviews, and we couldn’t be more excited. Thank you so much for playing and supporting the game!

But… not everything went perfectly.

We read your feedback, reviews, and comments—we're listening and constantly reviewing your input. One major issue you helped us uncover was a set of significant balance problems introduced in the "Welcome to Hell" update.

So today, we’re releasing a patch to tackle those issues. Let’s dive into the biggest one:
KING RICHARD IS SUCH A D*CK
Yep, he is… Thanks to your feedback (and months of hard work), the Kingdom level was previously well-balanced. Many of you enjoyed conquering the land and kicking Dick’s royal butt repeatedly. However, while working on the Hell level, we unintentionally introduced a hitbox bug that affected the entire Kingdom, especially the boss fight with King Richard.

Thanks to your sharp eyes and detailed notes, we identified and fixed the issue. With this patch, hitboxes should now function properly again. Here's what to expect:
💀 Killing King Richard is significantly easier;

💀 Enemy Mages are easier to kill, especially the first one;

💀 Paladins are more deadly and a bigger challenge in the early game, but will be more useful once turned undead.
How did such a major bug slip through the internal testing? It occurred late in the development process, when we were focused on iterating and testing Hell. During the final full game playthrough tests, we noticed the King fight became harder, but we couldn't find the exact issue causing this on time.

As the release deadline came, we applied a band-aid fix by reducing Richard's health to what felt to us was a similar difficulty before the patch. However, we got used to Hell's higher difficulty and missed the spot by a mile.

We are not trying to excuse ourselves; such things simply shouldn't happen. But we wish to give you more insight into what happened behind the scenes. We believe games should be good and work well on day one, even Early Access ones. You deserve that. And it wasn't the case for people who played the Hell update in the first 48 hours. For that, we apologize and promise to learn and do better in the future.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH BALANCE
Before the Hell update, the majority of the negative feedback about that game was that it was too slow and not dynamic and engaging enough. So when we were designing Hell, we wanted to create a meaningful challenge for those who triumphed over King Richard.

Hearing the feedback from players who reached the new Hell level, we realize we went overboard and made it frustratingly hard. That’s on us. Many players, including us developers, love Be My Horde for the challenge and skill expression the game offers, and we have balanced the Hell level around those players. While there are many such players, they don't represent the majority.

We think the challenge is good, but it must still be fun for most players. Based on your feedback, we’ve rebalanced the Hell level, and this patch reflects that. With that said, this is only the first step of many to come in the upcoming days, so please keep your feedback coming—it’s incredibly helpful!
FULL PATCH NOTES
Besides those most critical issues, we also address plenty of other things with this update. You’ll find the full patch notes below:

💀 Killing King Richard is now significantly easier;
💀 Enemy Mages are easier to kill, especially the first one;
💀 Paladins are more deadly and a bigger challenge in the early game, but will be more useful once turned undead.

Hell Balance:
💀 Rebalanced Hell level to make it significantly easier;
This is just the first balance iteration of many to come in the following days.

💀 Fixed an issue with the animation plugin that could cause crashes.

💀 Fixed a bug that allowed Priests to heal the King;
💀 Fixed issue with free Perk Selector giving perks that are still locked behind achievements;
💀 Devil's music should now change correctly during enrage phases;
💀 Fixed a bug where dialogues were displayed incorrectly after changing Save Slots;
💀 Fixed incorrect player level display on the end screen;
💀 Fixed issue with the data collection notice appearing before all runs instead of only the first;
💀 Fixed stretched soul icon on the talents screen.
A FEW FINAL WORDS
We’ve made plenty of mistakes and will probably make more. But we’re committed to improving Be My Horde every step of the way. This game is a learning journey for us, and we’re learning a ton, thanks to you.

One common theme in the feedback and reviews is that the game has good foundations. If we fix the balance, it will be great. And we will get the balance right, with your help.

Thanks again for your support. Keep that feedback coming—it truly means the world to us!

NEW UPDATE AVAILABLE NOW - "Welcome to Hell"!
Hello, Horde!
The hellish day has finally arrived! Things are heating up, and the flames of the underworld are rising. This is going to be one hell of a moment for us—and yes, we know, that’s already too many hell-themed puns in one paragraph. So let’s get to the point and say it together:
THE “WELCOME TO HELL” UPDATE IS LIVE!
(Moriana really hopes you read that out loud, minions)

March into the domain ruled by none other than the CEO of Hell himself—yep, the Devil—and convert his demon employees into your own grotesque yet oddly beautiful horde. But before you unleash doom upon another realm, let’s dive into what awaits. Because every crusade with Moriana deserves a proper briefing.

Without further ado... Welcome to Hell.
HELLISHLY HAPPY PLACE
Hated your job? Think again. We’ve found somewhere worse—Hell. The biggest highlight of this update is a brand-new level—and no, it’s not just a flaming reskin of Richard’s Kingdom. We’ve crafted Hell to be a completely unique experience. Let’s break down what makes it so different.

First of all, we introduce a Hostile Environment. Back in the Kingdom, you could interact with map elements like trees or crops. In Hell, environmental hazards don’t just sit pretty—they actively try to kill you.
LAVA PITS
These randomly generated puddles of molten doom damage both Moriana and her minions, while leaving enemies unharmed. Watch your step! One new perk does let you turn them to your advantage, but more on that later...
EXPLODING BLOBS
Horrific blobs that detonate on contact. If they start glowing, step away—fast. Thankfully, they’re just as deadly to your enemies, so make good use of them.
VOLCANOES
Speaking of explosions, Hell is full of them. Volcanoes are poorly secured (thanks, lazy demons) and highly explosive. Get too close, and they’ll erupt, causing a rain of destruction. Like exploding blobs, these can hurt your foes too, so use them strategically.

But not all dangers come from your own missteps—regular events trigger some. In the Kingdom, you were constantly attacked by waves of enemies. It all also waits for you in Hell, but with some extra deadly phenomena.
BOMBARDMENT
The sky is literally falling. Rocks crash down during certain events, and unlike some other hazards, they only hurt you. Watch for danger zones and try to keep casualties low.
FIRE TORNADOES
These flaming cyclones love to chase Moriana until they vanish on their own. Deadly and persistent, they’re drawn to her like moths to flame. (Because she’s hot. Obviously.)

We hope we have highlighted it enough—Hell is a dangerous place. And we haven’t even talked about who lives there...
DEMONS MAY DIE
A new realm means new enemies—and new minions. Back on Earth, you fought classic fantasy human units: peasants, knights, or mages. In Hell? Say hello to imps, goats, bombers, managers, directors, and... something that looks like a kettle full of tentacles.

There are six new units to claim for your horde, most of which are ranged attackers. This radically changes combat dynamics, so prepare for fresh tactical challenges.
IT’S GETTING COLD IN HERE
Wherever Moriana goes, chaos follows. Life becomes death, love becomes hate—and vice versa. So naturally, her newest powers bring a chilling contrast to the fire and brimstone of Hell.

Introducing three brand-new abilities:
BLIZZARD
Summons icy swirls that appear periodically, damaging and freezing enemies, leaving them defenseless for a moment.
ICE NOVA
Unleashes a frosty wave every few seconds, dealing damage and freezing nearby foes.
FROST BOLT
Fires cold projectiles when Moriana approaches enemies. Aim well—it’s easy to miss with poor positioning.

All these perks can be upgraded across multiple tiers, making them more powerful and valuable in battle. Experiment with them and gain a serious edge in battle.

Definitely test all new perks to become an even more formidable necromancess!
HELLISH EXPERIMENTS
Demon souls work differently from human ones. You can’t use them to build structures in the Dominion or buy skins, but you can invest them in Hellish Experiments.

Spend hell souls to unlock talent points and boost your minions’ health, damage, fire resistance, and more. You’ll need every edge, especially when you face the big boss… Speaking of which…
THE CEO IS ANGRY
Every corporation has a boss. And this one is... the literal Devil. Bored, bitter, and bound to the bureaucracy of Hell, the Devil now faces a new HR nightmare: you. Moriana is an unholy fly in his infernal ointment—and he’s not happy about it.

But who knows? Maybe Moriana will melt his cold heart?... No, wait… opposite. Maybe Moriana will freeze his burning heart?

Either way, prepare for a fight more intense than anything Richard III Ovine could dream of. Defeating the Devil unlocks a brand-new skin for our cold-hearted necromancess, so here’s your additional motivation to take him down!
BURNING CHALLENGES
“Welcome to Hell” introduces a few new in-game challenges that unlock additional upgrades. Push yourself and earn your rewards!
QUALITY OF (AFTER)LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
Looking at minor, but still essential, things, we added a new level selector. From now on, you can easily go back to the Kingdom if you decide that the temperature in Hell is too much for you, or if you just enjoy bullying King Richard over and over again.

Important note: You can now change the Hard Mode level or switch to the No Perk mode from this window. That said, the previous building for it is not obsolete as it serves now for the mentioned Hellish Experiments.
WHAT MORE?
Together with all this new content comes plenty of fixes and minor improvements. We have a few more announcements to celebrate this opportunity, so if you have come this far, you can check below to see what else we have in store.
TRAILER, Q&A SESSION, EVENT, AND A BUNDLE
We’ve also got a handful of extras to celebrate this infernal milestone!

First, we’re thrilled to unveil a brand-new official trailer for Be My Horde. The previous one has been with us since our Early Access launch, which feels like eons ago, and it no longer represents what the game has become. It was high time for an update, and we hope you’ll enjoy the fresh look!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

We know this announcement is packed, but you may still have some burning (hehe) questions. That’s why we’re hosting an official Q&A session with the developers of Be My Horde.

Join us on May 29th at 11:00 AM (PST) / 8:00 PM (CEST) on our YouTube and Twitch channels. We’ll be playing the game live and answering your questions from chat. Can’t attend live? No worries—drop your questions in the comment section below, and we’ll make sure to address them during the stream. We’d love to see you there!

Also, we're excited to be part of Steam’s Zombie vs. Vampires Fest! Sure, Be My Horde doesn’t feature traditional vampires, but your minions are definitely zombies—rotting, shambling, and loyal to the bone. That makes us eligible, right? Dive into the event to discover great discounts, awesome demos, and plenty of bloodsucking fun. If undead chaos is your thing, this is your moment.

And finally, Be My Horde has joined a new bundle! We teamed up with Hyperstrange to bring you the “Be My Horde x Hordes of Hunger” bundle not long ago. If you already own our game, it’s the perfect time to check out what our friends are creating. Trust us—they’re worth the plunge.

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/52606/Be_My_Horde_x_Hordes_of_Hunger/

That wraps up the big stuff. If you’ve made it this far, you’re a true servant of our Lady. Now go forth, conquer Hell, and share your feedback on Steam or Discord. We’re dying to hear what you think of this massive update.

"Welcome to Hell" update launching MAY 26TH!
Hello, Horde!
The big day is approaching faster than minions fetching Moriana her morning coffee (black as the void and cold as ice, if you're wondering). And it’s closer than you think… In fact, we see no reason to keep teasing the date of your journey to Hell. So, without further ado...
THE “WELCOME TO HELL” UPDATE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON MAY 26TH, 10:00 AM (PST) / 7:00 PM (CEST)
To celebrate this fiery milestone, we’ve prepared a short but explosive trailer—packed with flames, demons, and chaos. Enjoy!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
What can you expect from this massive update to Be My Horde? We'll dive deep into the details on Monday with the launch, but here’s a quick overview:

💀 An entirely new level—Hell;

💀 Brand-new enemies to kill and resurrect—some are ranged units;

💀 A new feature: hostile environment that fights you: volcanoes, bombarding rocks, exploding blobs, and… fire tornadoes!

💀 New FREEZING perks for Moriana to cool things down;

💀 An all-new Talent Tree system;

💀 A fearsome new boss—the Devil (voiced by Jacob Browning), complete with his own story and an intriguing relationship with Moriana;

💀 New dialogues between Moriana and the player in the Dominion;

💀 And of course, dozens of improvements and additions!

All of this is coming May 26th! We won’t lie—we're stressed as hell (hehe). These past few months have been a huge challenge. We overcame a mountain of obstacles to bring our vision to life. We never wanted this to be just a simple reskin—we aimed to craft something truly fresh. It was tough, especially considering we originally planned this update for March (oops). But we’ve poured everything we have into it, and we hope you’ll love it. Moriana won’t forgive you if you don’t. Okay?

Stay tuned for May 26th, and as always…

Hell is Coming, or How Are We Doing?
Hello, Horde!
We’re taking a short break from development to give you a quick peek behind the scenes. It’s hot in here—not just because we have the pleasure of working alongside Moriana herself, but also because we’ve spent most of our time in Hell. Yes, we’re still laser-focused on the upcoming massive update to Be My Horde. It’s going to be the biggest update in the game’s history, and yes… we’re a little nervous!
HOT, HOTTER, THE HOTTEST
Of course, there will be things to fix and polish, and once the Welcome to Hell update drops, expect hotfixes to come at you like bullet trains. Still, we’re doing everything we can to make this version as polished (hehe) as possible before release. That’s why it’s taking some time—but fear not, dear minions. H-Day is coming very soon.

The new level is far more than just a simple reskin. We didn’t want just to give you a new look and a few new enemies—we’ve designed an entirely fresh experience. Expect new features tied to the hostile environment you’ll be braving, and brand-new abilities that let Moriana... cool things down. We hope you’ll enjoy what we’ve cooked up!

Now, we know what you're thinking: "When can we finally conquer Hell?" Well... we’re not telling you just yet. But let’s just say: expect some exciting announcements next week.
AMERICANS AND DRAGONS
Recently, we had the chance to visit Boston for PAX East—and it was both exhausting and amazing! We met some fantastic Be My Horde fans in the U.S. and even gained a few new necromancy enthusiasts. (We even signed an autograph—an unreal moment!) We always love giving you high-fives, and we hope to meet more of you at future events!

Speaking of which: if you happen to find yourself in Poland soon, make sure to visit the beautiful city of Kraków. On May 19th and 20th, we’ll be at Digital Dragons, showcasing Be My Horde in the Indie Zone. We’re excited to meet players, chat with content creators and media, and maybe even bring home a prize. Fingers crossed!

That’s all for today. One big event is behind us, more are ahead—and the Welcome to Hell update is still simmering. We can say this: less than two weeks to go. Stay tuned, dear minions, and as always...
