Progress Report #106: March 2024

Hello everyone 💜

Welcome to the second progress report of March!

This week we are showcasing some in-game footage of how the first section of the new Tripteen dungeon plays out with the lighting systems.

Let’s get into the deets below ⬇️

First up, we have the Art Segment:

  • A new combat outcome is now in concepting phase, with the focus on highlighting robotics.
  • Caly is always in need of new clothes - they are (for some reason) not very durable 😉. We have finished all of the clothing variations for the combat status pictures.
  • We added a new combat status pose for the new enemies of Tripteen.
  • We have finished all the new combat cut ins for the normal Tripteen enemies! The boss is next in the pipeline 😮


Next we have the Story:

  • Currently writing all the little details for inside the dungeon, from points of interest containing some lore tidbits to interactable objects. 🖱️
  • Two Sections are essentially done but we're going through and testing them, making sure everything runs smoothly together.
  • Two more sections to polish up after that.



Lastly the Coding:

  • We have successfully implemented the new movement points 🚶‍♀️ and speed settings, which we are currently testing and balancing for the next update.
  • We are overhauling the naughty aspect of our combat system for this update, making sure it is more interactable and impactful than before without compromising the speed of combat.

Hey everyone,

Welcome to the first progress report of March!

As always, let's start with a peek into the artist's world 👀

Inspiring new progress has been made with Caly's combat style! The new poses are shaping up nicely, and a significant portion of her 'nude' versions are ready to be implemented into the game as well!

New combat status effect pictures (clothing condition, restrained poses) are currently in the lineart stage as well.

Every hero faces defeat occasionally, right? Well, we're embracing that truth with the development of a new Caly Defeat Scene.

And hey, who knows, maybe some players lose on purpose – no judgment here! 😄

This week we developed new interactions that'd transpire within the ominous Dungeon of Tripteen. We have added new puzzles to solve and traps to avoid, as well as a new narrative that focuses on the history of the area.

Additionally, our writers are reworking the early dialogues between Caly and crew to be more in sync with the new intro. 🖥️

Finally, a new mechanic is in testing: Movement Points during combat! Currently moving around costs AP (Action Points), with this new system, it will now cost its own resource called MP (Movement Points). This will allow player to have much more freedom to both attack and move around much more freely.

We hope that this will help players develop their own unique playstyles!

And before we sign off, we're thrilled to announce the development of new speed settings for combat! With this feature, players will have the freedom to adjust the speed of combat according to their preferences.

Welcome VoidDivers, to another exciting glimpse into the development journey of VoidBound!

Let's begin as usual, with some brushwork 🖌️

The artist this week was hard at work finalizing the visuals of the Tripteen Dungeon. And, we're glad to report that the third section map has been fully rendered and is now going through quality tests and evaluation.

Additionally, another character has joined the ranks of Remakes! Remember him?

Astis, the purple skinned Casanova, is set to make a return once more- this time in a new standing avatar to better reflect his pivotal role in the Tripteen saga.

Work around him is still in infancy but, more detailed updates will follow soon as we fine-tune Astis's attire and story to perfection ✍️

Brace yourselves for the introduction of formidable adversaries: Flying Drones and Crawling Drones

The artist meticulously crafted their designs, blending aesthetics with functionality to bring you foes that are not only visually striking but also pose a significant challenge.

Get ready to confront these threats head-on in the expanding world of Tripteen!

Meanwhile, we've been carefully reviewing the feedback regarding the initial stages of the game, particularly focusing on the newly revamped Introduction and the immediate sequence that follows on the spaceship, Setek.

Your input has been invaluable in identifying lingering issues, we're dedicated to addressing them all to ensure a seamless experience right from the start 🧐

Additionally, tuning work continues on the immersive facets of Tripteen Dungeon as we refine the current line of dialogues and narration.

A particularly time consuming exercise, as we intend to preserve the original lore while making sure that the new presentation is easy on your eyes. It takes a bit of back and forth getting the nuances just right.

Stay tuned for further updates on Tripteen's ever-expanding world.

Lastly, our coder has indulged in some well-deserved R&R following the completion of development tasks, including the implementation of new skills and miscellaneous balancing work.

Here is to hoping he returns with renewed vigor and freshly recharged batteries to tackle all that is to come in the future 🏖️
