Among the Sleep News & Patch v.1.1.0!

Hi everybody!


Among the Sleep have now been 1 week on the Steam store! Even though most of us were completely drained of energy after the hectic crunch leading up to release, we've not been resting yet. It’s been a really exciting week, so it’s time we’d touch base with you again - here is a small recap:

  • We've been seeing a lot of reviews popping up all over the web. A lot of them very positive, and some of them with useful criticism! We have been taking all of it in, and plan to use everything we learn in our journey forward. Both in coming patches for Among the Sleep and future projects! :) Considering this is our first game, and it all started as a student project, we’re incredibly happy about the games reception.
  • So far we've sold 17,603 copies of Among the Sleep on Steam, which we are completely blown away by!
  • There has been a lot of watching let's plays on youtube/twitch at the office the last week, and we love seeing peoples reactions. It's one of the most rewarding aspects of making games! It’s been especially rewarding watching peoples reaction when they reach the end
  • no spoilers*.
  • We answered tons of questions on reddit. Feel free to browse them here!
  • We also just updated the demo for the game, and it should now be the same version of chapter 1 as in the released game. We will continuously work towards keeping the demo and full game on the same version number, which means that any overall fixes will apply to both!


Now, here are the patch notes for v.1.1.0 and we also did a minor update the day after release - you can find the change log for both below!


1.1 (June 5 2014)
General
  • An option to hide the crosshair dot has been added
  • Added fast-forward option to credits. This can be activated by using standard movement keys/gamepad buttons
  • Fixed hints and subtitles sometimes being completely black
  • Fixed look-at-hands animation playing if opening the menu while sliding
  • Made rotating cranks and valves significantly easier
  • Made the long drawer a lot more stable
  • Fixed several locations where geometry would disappear when it shouldn’t (Occlusion culling)
  • Fixed bug where animation for climbing last pipe in closet level started too late
  • Fixed timing on some events
  • Added collision to some bottles in cabinets in the home level
  • Updated version of AI middleware (RAIN)
  • Fixed an issue where Teddy could block the player in the home level
  • Improved sound in certain areas of the game


Virtual Reality
  • Resolution selection in VR mode has been unlocked
  • Fixed an issue where multiple cursors were shown in the main menu/in-game menu in VR mode
  • Added a configurable key binding for resetting VR device orientation
  • Mother and cake now have correct collision in the intro, which fixed wrong depth on VR cursor


1.0.1 (May 31 2014)
General
  • Fixed mouse cursor getting locked after closing Steam overlay in the main menu.
  • Fixed progress getting wiped when selecting level from the main menu
  • Fixed long drawer becoming stuck in the box with the bottles
  • Fixed an object which was stuck in some geometry
  • Fixed physics properties of lamps in forest so that they come to rest after being moved
  • Fixed missing collision in a cupboard in the forest level
  • Improve collision in some places in the forest level
  • Fixed a commode missing collision in the closet level
  • Fixed missing option to rebind ‘Throw Object’ for gamepads
  • Fixed crosshair/hand icon’s depth in VR mode
  • Fixed some subtitles not matching the voice acting
  • Fixed some areas that were problematic for the AI
