Ask Shadow Anything | June 27, 2024
Delta Force: Hawks Ops is a big game with multiple ways to play, so we understand when players have questions. The good news is: we've got answers!

We recently asked our Discord community to hit us with their burning questions, collected the most common queries, and roped in Game Director Shadow Guo to answer as many as possible (given that the game is still in development and subject to change before launch!).
Enjoy, and don't forget to join our Discord for a chance to have your question answered in the next Ask Shadow Anything: discord.gg/deltaforcegame
Publishing Plan
Q1: When is the global release date?
A: We are currently still finalising our schedule for full release, and we'll be sharing further details at the right time. For now, we're focused on testing and receiving player feedback to ensure a fully optimised experience that fully meets expectations on launch.
Q2: Will the game be available in Asia, including beta testing?
A: We truly feel the support of our fans across Asia. While the upcoming PC Alpha Test set for July is focused on North America and Europe, we hope to roll out further testing in Asia before launch.
Q3: What platforms will the game be available on besides Steam?
A: Our upcoming PC Alpha Test in July will focus on Steam and the official launcher versions of Delta Force: Hawk Ops. Testing on other platforms, and official launch plans for those platforms, will be revealed at a later time.
Q4: What regions will the game be available in?
A: Platform restrictions on Steam currently exclude the Taiwan, Vietnam, and Russia regions, while similar restrictions on the Epic Games Store exclude the above plus South Korea and Brazil. We hope to address this in the future, but in the meantime please remember that the game will also be playable through the official launcher from www.playdeltaforce.com
Region availability for mobile and console versions has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned!
Q5: When will the global mobile beta testing start?
A: Large-scale testing of the mobile version of Delta Force: Hawk Ops is currently taking place in China, and international versions are in development. We'll let you know as soon as any international tests for mobile are scheduled.
Q6: What are the system requirements for DF:HO mobile?
A: To give an idea, the current mobile requirements for the China test are as follows:
For Android
- Recommended: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, Dimensity 8000, Kirin 9000E
- Minimum: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Dimensity 1000, Kirin 985
- Memory: 8GB recommended, 4GB minimum
- Storage: 15GB
For iOS
- Recommended: iPhone 11 and above
- Minimum: iPhone X
We are continuously optimizing the game across a range of devices, and our goal is to allow as many players as possible to have a fun gameplay experience on their device.
Q7: Will there be controller support on mobile and PC?
A: To be honest, controller support was not super high on our list of priorities - until we demoed the game during Summer Game Fest. The feedback we received was loud and clear: please add controller support! So yes, this is indeed something we're aiming to implement as soon as possible. Please note, however, that controller support is unlikely to be ready in time for the July PC Alpha Test.
Q8: Will there be cross-platform play?
A: We do not plan to support cross-play between PC and mobile, as we believe this would be unfair to players on both platforms. We are still considering options for cross-play between consoles and PC, and will let you know as soon as we have more news to share on this.

Q1: Will the Black Hawk Down campaign mode support co-op?
A: Yes, co-op play is available in our Black Hawk Down campaign mode.
In this mode, you will fight side-by-side with Delta Force operators, and it was important to us to restore some of that old Delta Force magic by allowing players to team up as they battle through the war-torn streets.
Of course, you can also choose to play solo for an extra challenge!
Q2: Will the campaign mode have microtransactions or be free?
A: The Black Hawk Down campaign mode will be premium content, and will include no micro-transactions.
Q3: Will there be vehicular combat, and to what extent?
A: Vehicular combat will indeed be a feature of Delta Force: Hawk Ops. The upcoming PC Alpha Test in July will include nine distinct combat vehicles, such as M1A4 main battle tanks, LAV-AA anti-aircraft vehicles, AH-1035D attack helicopters, assault boats, ATVs, and more!
Q4: Will there be terrain deformation?
A: Terrain deformation is indeed part of the experience, and will be available to try out in the upcoming PC Alpha Test in July.
Q5: Will the game include a map editor like the traditional Novalogic version of BHD?
A: We understand that map editors can add another dimension to a player's experience with a game, but right now we want to ensure that the existing three pillars of Delta Force: Hawk Ops - Havoc Warfare, Hazard Operations, and Black Hawk Down - each receive the care and attention they deserve. We may look at something like this further down the road, but it's not in our current plans.
Q6: What are the plans for future DLC and new game modes? Will there be a battle royale mode?
A: We have major plans to support the game with fresh new maps for both Havoc Warfare and Hazard Operations modes. We'll also be introducing new themes on a seasonal basis, providing fresh twists on existing gameplay modes. We'll have lots more to share on this at a later time. There are no current plans to include a Battle Royale mode.

Q1: How will character customization work?
A: Additional skins will be made available for each of the game's Operators, but the bulk of customization is reserved for weapons and vehicles. Our extensive Gunsmith system offers players a high degree of flexibility in how they want their weapons to look and feel, and unique skins will also be available to further individualize your look.
Q2: How will the game ensure there are no pay-to-win mechanics?
A: This is something we want to be very clear on: we do not believe in pay-to-win mechanics and will include no such items in Delta Force: Hawk Ops. As a free-to-play title, we do need to monetize in order to support the game, but we prefer to do this through cosmetic items such as Operator and weapon skins. A fair and balanced gameplay environment is a top priority for the team.
Q3: How will the game address cheaters?
A: Our client and server teams, together with our existing ACE security team, are collaborating to form G.T.I. Security. This will be an in-house task force dedicated to stamping out all forms of cheating and malicious behavior. We want to work with players to fine-tune effective security measures, and the upcoming PC Alpha Test in July will give us our first opportunity to begin this work on a large scale.
