Demo Update: Save and Load System

You can now save your progress in the Deep Space Directive demo! This was initially not planned to be part of the demo, but it was clear that some people are playing the for multiple hours and for multiple play sessions - seemed like a save system would be handy.

  • Save and load system added. To make it extra easy to use, the game will do a quick autosave whenever you quit. Manual saves can be done from the pause menu.

  • Save and Load system added! Definitely a quality of life improvement!


[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]
  • Fixed an issue where “develop ore” location directives could not be completed.
  • Fixed an issue where “kill 0” enemy directives were assigned and could not be completed.
  • Fixed the issue when infantry units were removed and on a tree tile the unit indicator would not get removed.

Cargo Route Improvements - Version 0.046

This update is all about cargo routes! Better visualizations, more information in menus plus a revamped tutorial. There are also a few bug fixes and some of your suggestions have been implemented. So keep the feedback coming!


[h2]New Features[/h2]
  • Cargo routes now have a better animation to indicate the direction the cargo is being shipped.
  • ”Shuttle utilization” is now shown in the unit window. This value gives a measure of how busy the shuttles are at the selected building - helping you optimize cargo routes..
  • The unit window now shows the resources being moved for each cargo route.
  • A “remove connection” button has been added to the unit window. The “add connection” button was moved to the bottom of the unit window. Cargo connections can still be added/removed using SHIFT and LMB/RMB.



[h2]QOL[/h2]
  • Priority delivery for building tiles has been increased to medium from low.
  • The game now pauses when the tech tree is open.
  • Better button highlighting.
  • Aspen (yellow) trees are now unlocked at the start.
  • The tutorial got reworked for pacing and clarity. Hope it helps :)

[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]
  • Enemies that can’t find a target should be better handled.
  • Fixed a bug where an empty daily directive could appear when skipping the tutorial and no supply ship has been built.
  • Fixed issue with minimap enemy indicator when UI had been scaled.
  • Fixed tooltips for health and shields in the unit window.


If you've submitted feedback - Thank You! There's been a ton of good ideas and they're slowly getting worked into the build :) I still have a long list of tweaks and suggestions.

Patch 0.0452

For some players the demo was crashing due to the day night cycle not initializing correctly. This patch should address this issue.

The patch also includes better error detection and reporting - so these issues don't go undetected for so long ;)

New Build - Version 0.044

This update rolls out a ton of new QOL improvements based on feedback and watching people play. Fewer clicks, tutorial skipping, and more.

[h2]New Features[/h2]
  • Skip the Tutorial! If you've finished the tutorial once, you should now have the option to skip it on your next play through
  • When powering down a building the workers will get returned to the nearest HQ or storage building. No need to destroy a building to redistribute workers.
  • Edge scrolling can now be toggled on in the options menu - you asked for less clicking :)

  • Less Clicking!
  • Mobile units are now ready to move when they’re selected.
  • When placing buildings you no longer have to hold shift to place an additional copy. Same is true when placing tiles.
  • Space lasers are now automatically on when the window opens.
  • When placing tiles, the blue placeholders now have a tool tip - letting you know you can cancel the placement with a right click!
  • When the game is paused the camera movement should be fully functional.
  • Supply ships are now automatically connected to HQ or storage buildings to make it easier to receive “buy” orders.

[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]
  • A few more “reload” bugs squashed.
  • A bug triggered by losing a mobile infantry unit that broke parts of the day/night cycle and could cause enemies to freeze has been fixed.

Demo Update Version 0.043

Thanks to all those who have made videos, streamed the game and sent in feedback! Keep it coming!

This patch and the smaller patches over the last few days have fixed several bugs, added some quality of life improvements, and added a couple smaller new features. The tutorial has also been updated to attempt to better introduce cargo connections.

[h2]New Features[/h2]
  • Construction sites now have labels above the progress bar.
  • Cargo connections now have icons to show what resources are being transported.

[h2]QOL Improvements[/h2]
  • Unneeded cargo connections are no longer being created.
  • When placing tiles the tile will turn red when the tile can not be placed at the current location.
  • Increased farm storage - should prevent farms from running out of resources so quickly.
  • Opening menus will toggle off space lasers, placing buildings and placing tiles.
  • Pressing escape will toggle off space lasers, placing buildings and placing tiles.
  • Newly placed tiles will show as revealed rather than hidden if no player unit is nearby.
  • The space laser should no longer shoot through UI objects.

[h2]Bugs Fixed[/h2]
  • Missing audio on first play through
  • Game freezing after first night of combat (introduced after release, yikes)
  • Hotkeys no longer triggering when typing feedback
  • Fixed bugs by restarting the game without quitting the application.
  • Fixed mobile units not always landing on the ground.
  • Fixed cargo connection color - notably for laser tower connections
  • Plus other smaller bugs.
