Patch 0.5.2

New Stuff

  • We've added a backup system for save games:
    • Up until now, when the game detected a corrupted save game it would completely erase it so the game could be launched again. However, this has lead to players losing their progress completely.
    • From now on, the system will create a copy of your current save game before overwriting it, and if your save game ends up corrupted one way or another, it will offer you to return to that backup.
    • While some progress might still be lost in the process, it will not be all progress like it's happened up until now.
    • Please note that the backup isn't bulletproof. It can get corrupted, in which case the save game will be erased so you can continue playing, or it can have issues saving. That's why we always encourage you to close the game in a safe way (avoid alt+f4 or abrupt turning off of the computer), and to please share with us any crash you might experience. You can do so here.
  • We've reworked the in-game status pickups.
    • They now work similar to a Tech in the sense that the playable Temtem is the center of it, and it expands outwards in a circle, applying the status and dealing damage in waves.
  • The Temtem portraits are now animated across the board!
    • However, since this can consume more resources, we've added a setting for it in the Settings menu, so you can turn it on or off depending on your specs.
  • We've added a summary of dash damage to the end-of-the-run screen!
  • We've added a myriad of new, informative notifications for all sort of situations when trying to connect with other players.

Vote Temtem: Swarm for the ‘Better With Friends' Award

Hey Tamers!

It’s that time of year again, the 2024 Steam Awards are here and ready for you to nominate your favorites!

We would be absolutely over the Pansun if you nominated Temtem: Swarm for the ‘Better With Friends' Award.

Remember that you have to leave a review for the game before you can nominate it, so if you haven’t already please tell us what you think of Temtem: Swarm!

At Crema we love playing our favorite games with friends and so we focus heavily on that when we develop new experiences. With Temtem: Swarm we wanted to bring the utter chaos of the bullet heaven genre into co-op and so developed the game with that in mind from the very beginning.

Your runs scale in difficulty with more players and being able to complete synergies for your teammates adds a lot of strategic control. Plus, we added Ghost mode so that you can support your teammates even after falling to the swarms and while they come revive you to jump back into the fray.

So, whether you share your experience or love competing for it with your friends, we hope you’ll join us in nominating Temtem: Swarm for the ‘Better With Friends' Award. You can vote here!

We’ve got more exciting updates on the way, with the next one adding 2 new playable Tems and Omninesia as a new map. Don’t forget to check out our Living Roadmap here.

Patch 0.5.1

New Stuff
  • 👥We've made it so your mouse cursor will be locked to the Swarm screen while playing in full screen. No more accidental cursor escapades!
  • We've added a warning when you're about to go over the recommended Skill Tree level for this stage of development.
    • What initially was a 40k Pansuns cap on Skill Trees has now been reconverted to a pop-up warning. The cap was removed altogether.
    • We still want players to know when they're exceeding the intended progression level that would guarantee a fun challenge at this stage of development. The choice is entirely yours!

Improvements

  • 👥We've added little "Coming soon!" banners to Skill Tree nodes that are currently not unlockable, the same way Kudos have these banners. This should help clarify what can be achieved now and what cannot.
  • We've changed the damage dealt by status conditions from a fixed amount, to a variable amount that scales up with Temtem damage.
    • The more attack your Temtem has, the more the damage inflicted by status conditions will increase.
    • This change also applies to enemies, so likewise: the more damage the Swarm Temtem has, the more damage they'll inflict on your player Temtem by status condition damage.
  • 👥We've made it so event spots won't repeat their location during a run after completing them. If you've gotten an event in zone x, you won't get another event in that zone.
Balance

After having the chance to watch everyone play the EA version for a few days, we've noticed the curve of progression wasn't completely balanced. We've noticed Deniz was underpowered, while Arbury was too much of a wall for progressing players. The idea behind these changes is to make Deniz a bit more challenging, and to tone down the challenge on Arbury and Tucma so we can get a smoother progression curve. As for Tems, no playable Temtem was balanced on this patch because there seem to be diverse opinions on all of them, which means they're in a good spot right now and there's no glaring issues to address right now. We'll still be monitoring them, and your feedback, to identify and fix possible issues.

  • Fixed a black screen at start and being unable to play when players had corrupted save games.
  • Fixed the chance to get stuck on a particular spot on the Deniz arena.
  • We've fixed the issue that was causing damage by status conditioned to not be recognized towards Kudo progression. The techniques affected were Tortenite's Garde and Toxic Waste. You should now see progression in your Kudos after using these Techniques.
  • Also fixed Fluid Barrier+ not counting the projectiles it had blocked, causing issues with Kudo Progression. You should now see progression in your Kudos after using this Technique.
  • Fixed that Nest events were impossible to complete if one of the co-op players was dead at the time.
  • Fixed that some damage-increasing Gears were not applying to some Techniques.
