Temtem: Swarm News

Vote to help us convince Steam to add a new genre tag for games like Swarm!

Survivors-like? Bullet heaven? Auto-shooter? We've struggled to categorize what to call Temtem: Swarm, and the same goes for a lot other devs ever since the genre sparked by Vampire Survivors exploded in popularity. One big hurdle: Steam still doesn’t offer an official tag for it.

Players get confused, developers lose visibility. So a group of studios and festival organizers united towards this goal! And now we’re asking you, our community, to take a short survey and help us bring this genre into the light. We'll need to know where we all stand on the terminology before we can further push for a tag!

JOIN THE POLL HERE

If you love games like Temtem: Swarm, Brotato, The Spell Brigade, Soulstone Survivors, Death Must Die, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, or Asgard's Fall, then you can genuinely help the next wave (pun intended) of creators. Many devs are excited to make similar games but worry their work will disappear without the right Steam tag. Join the survey, pass it along, and help make sure great games don’t get lost.
ABOUT THE INITIATIVE:
Steam has a huge influence on how game genres are defined — and this fast-growing genre still doesn’t have a proper tag.
A Steam tag isn’t just for looks; it’s one of the most powerful tools for discoverability and helping players find exactly what they love.

🏷️A dedicated tag would:
• Make these games easier for players to find
• Help Steam’s algorithms actually connect players with what they enjoy
• Give devs fair visibility instead of drowning in unrelated categories
• Finally unify a genre that currently has multiple different names

The movement is part of the Bullet Heaven Festival initiative. Votes will be collected starting November 27th and presented to Valve after December 11th!
ABOUT BULLET HEAVEN FESTIVAL 3.0:
Bullet Heaven Festival 3.0 (Dec 4th - Dec 11th, 2025) is an explosive celebration of reverse bullet hell gaming.
Unlike the bullet hell genre, known for testing player's skill and precision by requiring them to navigate through countless enemy projectiles, bullet heaven flips the script: here, the barrage of bullets will be coming from you.

Bullet Heaven Festival 3.0 is the third edition of an event dedicated to popularizing the bullet heaven genre, paired with a third-party Steam sale. This year’s showcase brings together over 450 developers, many of whom are presenting exclusive trailers, reveals, and world premieres, alongside discounts of up to 80% on participating titles.

Update on our living Roadmap: looking into the eyes of 1.0.

Hi, Tamers! We hope you have been well and that you're enjoying the spooky month! Our sights are on the future again today, and like we do after every major update, we're here with a most valuable roadmap to share: the 1.0 Roadmap! With the fumes of the Pansun still looming over us, take a look at the plans for 1.0 right here!

Patch 1.0 is the next patch we're working on, and the next step into the Temtem: Swarm universe. There won't be any other major updates until then, as we're focusing on developing all the missing content for 1.0, plus some surprises you'll find out about soon! As we approach our planned full launch we're really excited to place all the missing pieces and tie in all the features, content and ideas we've gathered during this Early Access phase.

Patch 1.0 is packed with content! Curious about what's coming? Check out the roadmap below!

As usual, remember that, while we’re posting it and it is totally official, everything here is still subject to change, be replaced or be rescheduled.

If you’re familiar with us and our future plans, you know we don’t include any sort of dates, and we try to keep things open to possible changes. But if you’re familiar with our vibes, you know there’ll be many spoilers as the time gets closer!

Temtem: Swarm is still in Early Access (although not for long!), and as such, open to your feedback and suggestions! Please let us know through our Discord server! We do our best to read everything, even though we cannot reply to the majority of it, and it ha greatly helped us in making Temtem: Swarm a great game. Thank you for your energy and help!

This update is really special and we're over the moon to be reaching this point with you. Now that we reaaaally get closer to a complete Temtem: Swarm, thank you for all your support so far! We hope you’ll continue to enjoy Temtem: Swarm in the future!

We still have some months to bask in the glow of the Pansun, so until then: have fun and Temtem up!

Patch 0.8.1

Improvements

  • We've adjusted Dodge Race to prevent it spawning out of bounds.

    • We have reduced the distance needed to traverse to complete the spot so that it's easier to complete.
    • Paired with this, we have increased the variable that decides where to place the end goal, in hopes this will prevent it from appearing out of bounds in the future.

Bug Fixes

  • 👥Fixed that Endless cycles were not resetting between matches, so at Endless start players would have the stat changes accumulated from previous Endless matches, making it way more difficult.
  • 👥Fixed seeing all playable Tems unlocked (including unreleased ones) if we had just suffered a disconnection from a Co-op match.
  • 👥Fixed a memory leak caused by Powerful enemies' visual effects. This should improve performance.
  • 👥Fixed that bosses affected with the Frozen or Trapped status conditions were not dealing contact damage.
  • 👥Fixed that the Kudo "Upgrade the Spyglass gear" couldn't be completed outside of the Pansun.
  • 👥Fixed that the Kudo to "Defeat 10 different Saipark Bosses" wasn't tracking properly during an Endless run.
  • Fixed Umbra Galios not properly scaling after transforming in Endless runs.
  • 👥Fixed that the Max Gears Hacking level was deactivated. It's now back!
  • 👥Fixed that the number of available Kudos to unlock was visually changing if we moved between Kudo pages.
  • Fixed that Resistance Badge was showing interaction with Rainbow Guard in the Level Up menu despite Rainbow Guard not causing any damage that Resistance Badge could boost.
  • 👥Fixed getting stuck in some railways in Tucma.
