[h3]What's new?[/h3]
This update brings some long requested features like a new window with attributes and units to plan your story even before it starts. You can plan your builds and check all the possibilities before entering a story. We hope this will help you discover entirely new possibilities!



If you want to dive even deeper into commanding a fantasy army, you should pay attention to the new button on the bottom left corner. This will allow you to mark the units you are aiming for, making them easier to spot at the units shop.

Last but not least there is a completely new location available - which will further improve your gameplay!

  • A brand new location adding new gameplay modifiers

We’re launching Storybook of Tactics in a fully complete state from day one, featuring:

Storybook of Tactics playtest live until September 10th!

It's been a while since we've introduced an overhaul for Storybook of Tactics. After implementing all the changes, we saw even more potential in the game, and decided to do another wave of UI lifting, further improve run variety by adding new types encounters, and readers - your army generals with their unique traits.

Ready to jump into testing? All you need to do is hit the green "Join playtest button" on the Steam card. We will keep granting the access with new waves until September 10th, when you will no longer be able to play.



We focused on three main areas: UI, gameplay depth, and replayability.
So, let's dive deep into each of those!

[h2]Even better UI[/h2]
Last time we already shared an overhauled UI, and this time we have focused on User Experience, final polish and QoL improvements to make sure everything from chapter selections, combat preparation, and purchasing upgrades is clear and pleasant.

Here is an example: when hovering over a unit card trade you can now see a visual representation of all the units of the same type allowing you to quickly identify your future needs:



Each story has a better visual representation with a short catchy story describing the main boss you are going to fight with.



[h2]Rogue-lite all the way[/h2]
Our initial design plan for the game included runs with 30 waves of enemies, but we decided to do a major design lifting, giving you endless replayability and more interesting encounters.



With map spreading into 3 pages, now you need to finish 24 chapters, and kill 3 bosses along the way. Choose between different nodes, consisting not only battles with a selection of varied rewards.

Encounters are grouped into 3 different categories: objective based, merchants, and prize wheel. Will you risk loosing some resources for a chance to get access to more rewards?



[h2]Even more gameplay depth[/h2]
With the playtest build, we also introduce readers. Select one before starting your story to receive various +1 stats upon reaching your unit shop's 4th, 7th, and 9th levels. It will allow for increased build diversity and let you adapt the game to your playstyle in a new way.

Join Storybook of Tactics playtest with a revamped UI & new features!

After months of work, we are finally ready to reveal an overhaul for Storybook of Tactics. The initial demo version was already well received, but this got us even more motivated to bring up the quality of the game. 🦊

Ready to jump into testing? All you need to do is hit the green "Join playtest button" on the Steam card. We will provide access to each interested party whenever the testing build is fully ready (we are planning to run it in June).



We focused on three main areas: UI, gameplay depth, and replayability.
So, let's dive deep into each of those!

[h2]A brand new UI[/h2]
Our Laughing Foxes team grew in recent months, which allowed us to redo every single window, button, interactive element, main menu, key art, and more. It's much more than just aesthetics. In the end, in Auto Battler, the preparation phase is the key, and that's where you spend most of the time.



So let us know what you like the most! Unit cards, story selection, the new focus bar, the bench or the new map with nodes?

[h2]Even more gameplay depth[/h2]
Storybook is meant to be both accessible and full of tactical depth, so when we decided to add a new feature, we wanted to ensure that it would not overcomplicate things while keeping you entertained throughout the gameplay.

We have shrunk the number of waves during each run from 30 to 24 and included various in-game events full of risk-and-reward elements. Some nodes will require certain conditions to give an extra reward, some will let you spin the wheel of fortune, and others will let you choose from different options that best suit your army.



With the playtest build, we also introduce narrators. Select one before starting your story to receive various +1 stats upon reaching your unit shop's 4th, 7th, and 9th levels. It will allow for increased build diversity and let you adapt the game to your playstyle in a new way.

[h2]Focus on replayability[/h2]
Thanks to introducing a map with randomly generated nodes, the number of possible combinations while replaying the scenario increases. Each map still consists of 3 various modifiers. You can change generals and use dozens of builds to lead your army to victory. So whether you want to play casually or spend countless hours, the current game design will suit you both.
