In Development: M3 ATG

Our Production team is continuing to fill out the United States military kit because it is the newest of the personas and requires some additional assets to balance its kit and give them equivalent fighting capabilities of other nations. As you know we had to borrow from some of our other nations to make them deployable into the campaign, but now that is getting corrected.
US FORCES - 37MM ANTI-TANK GUN
This is the US Forces equivalent to the Pak36 and 2 Pounder. It will be towable by light vehicles and spawnable at the fortified mobile spawn and depots. A big salute to BMBM for his continued efforts on these new vehicles and weapons platforms fueling WWII Online with new and exciting capabilities.

As I like to say, "let's look at those shiney's!" (You know, screenshots).

Seen here is the German perspective with a blurred effect isolating the US M3 37mm ATG getting ready to engage the Panzer rolling by.

In Development: "Deuce and a Half"

Great news for the U.S. Forces, the "Deuce and a Half" (US GMC CCKW 2.5 TONNER) is officially in development! Today we're going to share with you the current progress as well as some in-game screenshots.

The Deuce and a Half is one of the most iconic military trucks of all time, and it is an absolute joy to drive ingame! The Allied forces are going to be really thrilled with acceleration, sustained speed, and handling. It'll be able to carry both troops and all gun types. Of course, it'll be able to deploy mobile spawns and ammo cache's like all other trucks.

Pictured here is a simulation of U.S. Troops loading up from the barracks. Notice the "lift gate" being down on the trucks.

Some higher resolution textures being used on the internal components.

Join Operation Squeeze Play this Sunday

The next in our series of special events is Operation Squeeze Play which will be held this Sunday 11/29 starting at 11:00 AM server time. The event will run for 4 hours on the Training Server during which time the campaign will be locked. This event focuses land sea and air battles in the Netherlands in early 1944. Also, both the Allied and Axis High Commands are recruiting new members!

Operation Squeeze Play
Join us for another special event! This operation will begin in the Rotterdam area of the map using Tier 4 equipment. There will be a mix of British, French and US supply in the area but it will be primarily US ground forces simulating the early arrival of the Allies into the Netherlands in early 1944. CRS will be keeping score of captures as each side earns victory points for capping CP's, AB's, AF's and docks. At the end of the event a side winner will be announced in the forums.

We hope you can make time for some or all of the event! Past experience predicts we will have some intense battles and fun special operations. Join the Rats and the High Commands as we take a few hours out of the campaign to showcase the best of our game!

Recognizing the Passing of Saratoga
Prior to the start of the event (11:05 AM server time) we will gather at a deep water port town (on the Training server) for a 10 minute ceremony and DD gun salute in memoriam of Saratoga a day 1 player and supporter of wwiionline. Polish up your brass and shine those medals and let's look sharp!

Recruiting for both High Commands
Both the Allied and Axis High Commands are recruiting new volunteers. We have a dedicated Training Corps standing by to train new HC applicants or provide a refresher course for returning HC. With less movable units on the map and garrison supply in every town, the HC duties have never been easier. That said, the game thrives on High Command participation and leadership plus it's a great opportunity to see a different side of the game from a unique perspective. If your interested in trying HC for the first time or your a returning HC officer, apply here:

Holiday Plans for WWIIOL

CHRISTMAS PATCH

We normally try to do 30-day release cycles to provide consistent content to WWII Online, however, we decided for this one to combine both November and December patch's into a single bigger release. We think this will be more valuable and it's enabling us to fit even more content than if we released them individually. Given our current promotional plans, it also emphasizes a great opportunity for players to return to the game and we hope you guys help spread the word and build up the hype around this!

CRS will release a complete Readme before release, as we have several items currently in development which include Official Roadmap deliveries. For now, we just want you to know it's coming and our logic behind combining the two releases into one.

This release comes out before Christmas, we're estimating mid-December, and at this time we have 37 tickets in the release queue which is a combination of new content and fixes.

FALLEN SOLDIER: SARATOGA

SaratogaSaratoga was a long time member of our gaming community, very active in the forums, and has been here since 2001. Saratoga was fighting hard against Stage 4 cancer, but it, unfortunately, took over. We learned from "Dennis," Saratoga's nephew that he, "passed away this morning peacefully surrounded by most of his family."

DEDICATION EVENT IN-GAME
We'll be dedicating "Operation Squeeze Play" in his honor for the already scheduled event on November 29th, at 11AM PST (Server Time). CRS will be placing him on the Fallen Soldiers list immediately as well so he'll forever be etched into WWII Online for others to remember him.

Game Monitor - Back Online!

Game MonitorMany years ago one of our players named, "Xiper," built the Battleground Europe - Game Monitor. We've updated it a little bit and rebranded it to coincide with the game to be the "WWII Online - Game Monitor." For some time it's been offline as we've added in the new Garrisons (town-based supply), and we are happy to report that this is now back online and operational. Be sure to run the .exe file within this .zip. It's available for PC users only and it's a fantastic way to track all important strategic events going on in WWII Online. It's entirely free, click the link below to get started with monitoring WWII Online.

From the Desk of WESTY91: Tips on Surviving Longer!

The humble rifle is a divisive figure for many on WWIIOL. It’s a marmite weapon. You either love it or you hate it. However, it’s a weapon I love to use, and when used effectively the rifle can be one of the most important weapons in your arsenal. Here’s three unwritten rules I stick to when playing as a rifleman.

Rule 1: Understand your limits.

Simply put, don’t go barreling into town at lightning speed expecting to clear the enemy at close quarters. Rifles are at their most effective when launching probing attacks or scouting ahead for troops, spawning points and other equipment. Going toe to toe with an SMG armed enemy at close range will only leave you in the dirt with egg on your face. Instead, try to ambush unsuspecting players as they spawn and you’ll see your stats improve very quickly.

Rule 2: Flank Flank Flank.

Ever been annoyed because you’ve been dropped by an unseen player out of the blue? You’ve just been flanked. Rifles are ideal for flanking movements in the field. You may find that you AO has stalled, or that the enemy has unceremoniously kicked you out of town with skillful and aggressive defending. If you get on the flank and start taking out infantry, you may even open up holes with which to get back into town as infantry spread out to try and find you. Turn it into a war of movement and you could turn the battle on its head.

Rule 3: Pick your moments.

Sometimes, you may find yourself in the middle of a furious firefight over a spawn point. Supply is being burned up and you’ve just been landed with a rifle. That’s not always the end of the world, because the smoke grenades in your possession can be crucial in shielding you and your team from view just long enough to break out into the CPs or into buildings and over bits of cover. If you can get behind the enemy with a good line of sight, unloading on them and taking down spawn campers can go a long way towards breaking the siege. It’s vital that you pick your moments well in this situation.
