Major Demo Update - New Tales Maps

The Dead Gods have approved the release of a new update to the Whispers of the Eyeless demo! The Tales of Aranthor, where you travel to the city or delve into the dungeons in search of loot, have a whole new look and feel. As we continue to work toward our Early Access release, we plan to update the demo with more additions, including specific mechanics that will tie into the overhauled Tales.



General:

- Demo size reduced by 1 GB thanks to file cleaning

Tales:

- First version of the new Dungeon Delve system
- First version of the new city Tales for Old Town
- Added status effects for Aspects
- Added auto-battle option
- Added wounded idle stance for the Prophet and all enemies in Tales
- Combat speed options changes persists between encounters and Tales
- Reworked Tales rewards screen
- Cultist event no longer requires Whispers
- Various minor fixes

Gods also demands from us to remind that we are still on Kickstarter and you can still support the cause of the Dead Gods!

KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN

Demo Update 4

General:

- Cultists in main hall will change their position from time to time during the day
- Added missing clicking sounds to some places
- ! no longer persists when it shouldn't

Tales:

- Prophet weapon damage lowered to 12 from 14
- Cooldown added to all Gifts
- Lost and abandoned Tales no longer have experience penalty
- Added tooltip info about status effects to associated Actions, Blessings and Gifts
- Gifts now have a minimum Sanity cost of 20% of their base cost. UI will now show base cost, current cost, and when minimum is reached
- Wild Dog will no longer stack critical chance for every enemy

Both Channel Divinity and Aspects should give rewards that are not based on RNG, so effects have been changed to be more reliable

Channel Divinity:

- Wrath encounter changed to +4 damage from +20% critical chance
- Desire treasure now gives Evasion: +5% for Tale
- Madness encounter gifts cost changed to -4 from -5
- Madness rest Initial Sanity changed to +20 from +10

We see that many actions are underperforming or are not used often; these actions have received buffs or reworks

Actions:

- Standard Attack: enemy evasion reduction changed to -20% from -10%
- Defensive Strike: +1 block
- Savage Brand: critical chance (next turn) changed to +5% from +10%, lifesteal changed to +1 (this combat) from +2 (next turn)
- Repentance: block changed to +12 from +10.
- Not Today: +2 special added
- Dominate: gifts cost reduction for first gift next turn changed to all gifts next turn
- Prepare: critical chance (1 turn) changed to +20% from +10%, -10% evasion (1 turn) added
- Encroach: enemy evasion changed to -25% from -20%
- Reposition: enemy block changed to -12 from -10
- Turtle Stance: block changed to +6 from +5.
- Furious Rage: protection changed to -2 from -1
- Pain is Pleasure: block changed to +6 from +5.
- Open Their Eyes: protection changed to -2 from -1

Some Gifts right now are vastly better than other; some have been slightly nerfed while others have been significantly buffed. We also added cooldown to all of them to make sure stacking same Gift is not only viable option.

Gifts:

- Bestial Laceration: critical chance changed to +20% from +25%
- Lycanthropy: lifesteal changed to +6 from +5
- Howling Frenzy: critical damage changed to +10 from +5
- Teasing Flame: evasion changed to +20% from +25%
- Gluttony: protection is increased by double of tale loot % value changed to protection +2 (this combat) and damage -1 (this combat)
- Envy: special +2 changed to steal 5 health
- Shimmering Shield: block +30 for one turn changed to block +10 and block replenishment +5 (this combat)
- Mind Invasion: mania +2 changed to mania +4
- Maddening Reflection: enemy attacks have 25% chance to harm themself instead of Prophet changed to counter +4 (1 turn) and block +4 per attack received

We want blessings to impact the Prophet power more and give options to allow more interesting and varied builds. Many buffs have been made to underperforming blessings, while others that were performing similar functions have been changed.

Core Blessings:

- Greed: +1% Tale loot removed, enemy Critical Chance and Evasion changed to -5% from -2%
- Smokescreen: Block changed to +10 from +8
- Maniacal Laughter: Sanity changed to +12 from +10

Common Blessings:

- Fang: damage changed to +4 from +3
- Cornered: damage per attack received changed +4 from +3
- Feasting: lifesteal changed to +2 from +1
- Bloodbath: critical damage changed to +6 from +5
- Bloodscent: critical chance changed to +20% from +10%
- Retaliation: counter changed to +4 from +3
- Desperation: counter if no actions deal damage changed to +10 from +8
- Bloody Visage: Wrath aspect success changed to +30% from +25%
- Keen Eye: Loot changed to +40% from +25%
- Rigidity: Initial Block changed to +20 from +12
- Lasting Vigour: Block Replenishment changed to +4 from +2
- Thick Skin: protection changed to +4 from +2
- Perfect Form: protection per attack changed to +2 from +1
- Rapid Recovery: special cooldown changed to +4 from +2
- Collective Crescendo: special per enemy special activation changed to +6 from +4
- Evasive: evasion changed to +20% from +10%
- Promises, Promises: desire aspect success changed to +30% from +25%
- Stability: initial sanity changed to +30 from +25
- Favoured: gifts cost +5 changed to damage +4 after critical attack and protection +4 after evasion for next turn, does not stack
- Ardent Devotion: sanity replenishment changed to +8 from +5
- Chittering Whispers: enemy special cooldown changed to +4 from +2
- Vulnerability Sight: mania per enemy special activation changed to +6 from +4
- Gods’ Vengeance: gifts cost per attack received changed to -6 from -4
- Hypnotic Gaze: madness aspect success changed to +30% from +25%

Rare Blessings:

- Resurgent Beast: revive health changed to 50 from 40, overkill wont lower healing value anymore
- Voracious Pounce: Bypass: criticals bypass enemy protection changed to bypass: enemy protection
- Desire’s Covenant: tale loot increases Initial block and evasion by 10% of its value changed to block: +10 per evasion
- Dark Imitation: steal: 50% of enemy initial block changed to steal: up to 10 of enemy block each time enemy receives it
- Identity Thief: steal of evasion and critical chance changed to 10% flat from 25% of base value
- Fractured Psyche: health per enemy special activation changed to +8 from +6

Changes:

- Added new tutorial system for Tales and Sanctum
- Increased starting Relics value to 20 from 10
- Tooltips added to Prophet stats in Tales

Demo Update 2

Changes:

- If you have the core blessings that activates gifts, it now activates according to the number of specials you've done instead of always 1
- Changed base weapon damage to 14 from 10
- Changed base armour protection to 2 from 1
- Added text to first letter to make it more clear
- Swapped the starting 100 gold to 15 supplies to simplify the start

Fixes:

- Fixed a bug with madenning reflection being 6.25% instead of the said 25%. It was rolling twice and if you passed first roll and failed second roll nothing was happening

Changes:

- Self-inflicted damage now bypasses block
- Counter damage no longer bypasses block
- Tooltips and information have been added to the Workshop repair screen for clarity and to emphasize each room’s importance
- Tooltips added to Sacrifice groups
- Demo now plays in borderless fullscreen
- Added option to return to main menu from pause menu
- Updated the Prophet’s combat sprites (he is no longer mysteriously shorter when wielding a sword)

Fixes:

- Removed unnecessary and irritating behavior of passives resetting when using the Envy gift
- Fixed various bugs with the Black Market trade mechanic
- The God Renovations in the Forbidden Annex can no longer be activated when no offering has been made or requested. The Dead Gods do not appreciate their Divine Crafts being wasted
- Fixed an issue where the player could equip the same gift in all gift slots
- Fixed an issue where using Dominate wouldn’t increase the contact effects applied on the same turn by other passives
- Actions can no longer be changed mid-turn
- Fixed options in the Revelation that were leading to the wrong scenes, inadvertently spreading Madness’s influence to the player
- Fixed an issue where the Prophet’s stats were not being updated upon entering the Tales after spending skill points
- Fixed a bug with Thrill blessing being less thrilling than intended. It will now apply twice if you equip it in the Tale and in the Chambers
- Various text issues that were snuck into the demo by the Living Gods have been fixed
