Rust's Halloween update is here, with a Trick or Treat event and spooky new items

Like many of the other best PC games out there, Rust is getting its own festival of all things spooky this year. The Rust Halloween update has landed and, with it, a limited-time game mode, creepy NPCs to flee, and other goodies.

The Rust Halloween event is live to dive into from now until November 5, developer Facepunch Studios announces in a press release, and it sees the return of the survival game's Trick or Treat LTM. Popping up approximately "every two in-game days", the event sets off a candy hunt. You'll get a mere three minutes to run around, scooping up as many sweets as you can, with the top three scoring players given some special loot bags as prizes. What's inside can vary across different types of loot - that is, you could discover some scrap, an M249, or anything in between.

The update also adds some extra items you might find handy in your hunt, such as a pumpkin bucket that lets you instantly grab candies and a scarecrow wrap that'll give you an edge in spotting the treats "via candy vision").

Once roughly every two in-game days, a candy hunt event will begin. You'll have 3 minutes to collect as many candies as you can. The top 3 players are given special loot bags as a reward. These candies and loot bags can be opened for various types of loot ranging from scrap all the way up to an M249!

If you don't make the podium, that's okay. The Candies you collect can be upgraded for better loot.

There are various items available to help you during your hunt. The Pumpkin Bucket will allow instant pickup of candies and the Scarecrow Wrap and will provide you with an advantage via Candy Vision.

We've also updated the Halloween loot tables from last years event and added a new item "Ghost Costume" (see above image), you'll be able to find these as rare drops from killing Scarecrow NPCs.

The Halloween event will run until November 5th. More Details can be found on the blog

Rust's penis sizes are based on your SteamID

Facepunch's survival sandbox Rust is well known for its abundance of flacid penises, and the newest change to the game's engine certainly embraces the variety of dongs the world over. Your SteamID is now responsible for the randomisation of body size, which includes lengths for everything from arms to members.

Every Rust player has been permanently assigned a skin and hair colour. Including pube colour

In an update earlier this month, Facepunch made it so every Rust player would have a race and face permanently assigned to them. The new look is locked to your Steam ID. That means that every character you create will share exactly the same randomised look.

Facepunch founder Garry Newman said it's "just like in real life, you are who you are - you can't change your skin colour or your face."

The change has angered some Rust players who want the freedom to change how they look in game. Not everyone, though. One player couldn't be happier with his blue pubes.
