A new update is available for A Hat in Time!

The update will be applied automatically when you restart A Hat in Time.

[h2]New Feature: Emblems[/h2]
  • Added emblems to acts in the act select screen. Emblems are rewarded for: 0 jumps, speedrun, all rift token pages, all yarn, all rift pons, finding friend message, finding developer message.


[h2]Gameplay[/h2]
  • Brewing Hat breakables now spawn health if the player is missing health
  • The Completionist's Hat now highlights pons that have been collected before
  • Added "Prevent Accidental Falls" input setting, which prevents rare cases where Hat Kid may vault over a ledge to her death



[h2]Levels[/h2]
  • Fixed invisible sign meshes in The Illness Has Spread near the birdhouse
  • Fixed pause menu not highlighting the correct Time Piece when in a Time Rift
  • Ship Shape delivery guides now only refresh if the player strays far away from them
  • Fixed trigger volumes required for Nyakuza Metro finale being exhausted when touched during other acts



[h2]Death Wish[/h2]
  • Fixed subtitle / voice line mismatch in Death Wish
  • Added a leaderboard to Death Wish that show friends' stamps



[h2]Online Party[/h2]
  • Fixed online player messages not retrieving correctly.
  • Added a game setting for turning off online player messages.
  • Online player messages are now colored differently depending on the author (yourself / friend / mod author / Gears for Breakfast staff)
  • Online player messages can now be placed in non-mod levels, but only friend and developer messages are visible
  • Online Party join messages now close after a few seconds of being accepted. This fixes a softlock if the joined level is not installed.


[h2]Modding[/h2]
  • Added a leaderboard to Challenge Road
  • Added bOnlyEnforceBlacklistWhileOnline and DoNotEnforceBlacklistOnlinePartyNamePrefix to Hat_MapInfo
  • Fixed mod level playtime tracking not working
  • Fixed crash caused by matinee interpdata not getting cleaned up properly when GC'd on cook
  • Fixed crash if loading screen DLC logo is part of the root set
  • Fixed EndPlayMap for mods passing the wrong name (was passing travel url, not map name)
  • Fixed Hat_NPC_Player not calling ConvertNPCPlayer if no player pawn is present (such as in titlescreen)
  • Added OnlineRestrictionsVolume to filter online player messages in specific locations (such as boss battles)
  • Fixed AlwaysInPlayerBackpack not working for hats or badges
  • Added support for non-weapon attachment points for hookshot

  • Fixed Hat Kid staying in the double-jump animation if ledge grabbing after double-jumping
  • Homing attack now starts movement slightly faster
  • Fixed players not seen as "landed" when triggering OnLand on meshes with custom walkable floor Z
  • Fixed being unable to drop carry-able objects on destroy within 0.5s of pickup if AutoPickupOnTouch is on


[h3]Hats[/h3]
  • Fixed brewing hat projectiles being blocked by EnemyBlockingVolume


[h3]Badges[/h3]
  • Fixed hookshot chain not attaching properly to certain end-points
  • Updated player's movement curve at the start of a hookshot swing to be smoother


[h3]Mafia Town[/h3]
  • Fixed not attacking in the 2D plane direction when in the Mafia of Cooks boss battle
  • Increased interaction distance to Mafia NPC blocking an entrance by the docks in Mafia Town


[h3]Alpine Skyline[/h3]
  • Fixed softlock in Twilight Bell in the room with the second key


[h3]Nyakuza Metro[/h3]
  • Added a Nyakuza Metro introduction camera sequence for when all Time Pieces have been collected


[h3]The Finale[/h3]
  • Fixed Hat Kid being vertically misaligned in the fake-out ending in The Finale
  • Updated The Finale hyperzone background to be less visually noisy
  • Moved boss battle phase 1's arena bounds to avoid part of the arena being out-of-bounds


[h3]Online Party[/h3]
  • Fixed crash in Online Party when a remote player would use specific weapons
  • Fixed timed-out users stalling games in Vanessa's Curse


[h3]Modding[/h3]
  • Fixed GEI-implemented classes not finding functions
  • Fixed flair ComponentOverride not working for Hat_Ability_StatueFall

The 2023 Winter Event is Here!

The A Hat in Time Winter Event is active between December 4, 2023 - January 4th, 2024! The 2023 Winter event includes:
  • 8 Death Wish challenges
  • 5 unlockable stickers
  • 1 unlockable weapon

The A Hat in Time Steam Summer Event starts June 29, 2023, and ends July 31, 2023!

  • A brand-new in-game summer event is live from June 29th to July 31st!
  • The spaceship has been decorated for summer vibes
  • A new summer Death Wish map with 50 stamps is available, containing community-made challenges (accessible via Death Wish in the Pause Menu)
  • The challenges and rewards are available even if you don't own 'A Hat in Time: Seal the Deal'
  • Unlock 2 new weapons, a new sticker and a new dye
  • To keep Steam Workshop rewards installed when restarting the game, subscribe on the Steam Workshop page.

  • Fixed wrong hat flair being equipped when using the "Set To Default Hat" Kismet node. This bug was visible when finishing the Subcon Forest finale.
  • Fixed broken camera sequence during the final boss speech in the finale
  • The camera sequence when entering the Subcon Well's hookshot room is now disabled while auto-skip cutscenes is active
  • Fixed missing talking animation for Mustache Girl during the Mafia Town boss battle
  • Fixed easter egg enemy in Nyakuza Metro being synced in online party, resulting in a softlock
  • Fixed modding crash when using asset replace on loading screen textures
  • Fixed asset replace refreshing when disabling/enabling a mod that doesn't use asset replace
