DEV UPDATE | What We Learned From the Demo

[p]Greetings Commanders! [/p][p]It’s been a few weeks since Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hope’s demo launched, and we are incredibly grateful to all of you who played it! [/p][p][/p][p]If you haven’t had the chance to play the demo, no need to worry, as we are keeping the demo online until launch![/p][p]We kept a keen eye on your videos and your comments; watching you play and react to our work has been incredibly rewarding! [/p][p][/p][p]Thank you again to those of you who took the time to leave detailed and insightful feedback.[/p][p]While we’re still hard at work to prepare for the launch (adding more content, bug fixing, and polishing), we wanted to give you a preview of some of the improvements we have planned after listening to your feedback. [/p][p][/p][h3]Difficulty[/h3][p]We heard you loud and clear on this. While Scattered Hopes is meant to be a difficult game as a nod to the original series, it is not meant to feel unfair or excessively frustrating.[/p][p]We are continuing our efforts to balance the game and make the difficulty curve fairer.[/p][p][/p][p]In addition, we are working on three difficulty modes: Easy, Normal, and Veteran. Our aim is to offer a difficulty level tailored to your preferences and that matches your level of experience with similar games. [/p][p][/p][p]To further customize your runs, we are also working on a custom mode in which you will be able to control various parameters in your run, such as the health and damage dealt by Cylons.[/p][p][/p][h3]Replayability[/h3][p]In addition to reworking the difficulty, we will be implementing various improvements and new features to offer more player agency and provide more replayability. A few examples include:[/p]
  • [p]New meta upgrades (Favors) that allow you to retry a lost fight[/p]
  • [p]The possibility to choose the first destination at the start of a run[/p]
  • [p]New "defining choices" in the bar at the start of a run to gain an additional item/trait or ability[/p]
[p][/p][p]And of course, thanks to your feedback, we are also working on adjusting Hero traits, Squadron base specs, abilities, and Gunstar Weapons so that each of your choices and actions feels more impactful and rewarding.[/p][p][/p][h3]Quality of Life[/h3][p]We have added a skip option that brings you directly to the last line of dialog and its associated choice.[/p][p][/p][p]We’ve also been working to smooth the flow and frequency of events you experience during management phases. This will help avoid situations where you are confronted with several events in the same turn.[/p][p][/p][p]You will also be able to directly target Cylon spawn points in combat with your deployed Squadrons[/p][p][/p][p]There are many more improvements and tweaks planned, of course, but that’s all we can share with you for now.
