Version 1.2.1 Released (and in the Humble Bundle!)

Hey there folks!

We're happy to announce that Wrack v1.2.1 is here! This patch addresses some performance issues, fixes some bugs, and some other things. Here's the full rundown on what's changed:
  • Made an optimization to reduce slowdown when objects are deleted from the world (like particles).
  • Using the Hyperblade's finisher no longer disqualifies you from getting the "Katana-rama!" achievement.
  • Reduced texture memory usage and got rid of some unnecessary texture files. This should reduce the number of crashes due to being unable to load certain textures.
  • Improved the handling of setting your frame rate higher than your monitor's refresh rate when vsync is enabled.
  • Added several new posters to E1L1 and E1FINALE.
  • The Guardsphere now has a brightness map attached (meaning certain parts of it glow).
  • Music/sound effect volume now default to 0.5.
  • Aggregate lighting now defaults to off.
  • Weapon camera movement now defaults to "reduced".
But that's not all! Wrack is currently a part of the Humble Bundle, and will be until May 7, 2015. We're happy to be a part of it alongside some great games like Freedom Planet and Brawlhalla! You can find the bundle here:

Version 1.2.0 Released

We're pleased to announce that Wrack v1.2.0 has been released! Among many other fixes/additions, this version features something you the community has demanded: an uncapped framerate! This will allow the game to be buttery smooth on monitors with a refresh rate greater than 60 Hz. If you're lucky enough to have a monitor like this, be sure to try it out!

Here's the full list of what's new:
  • The frame rate is no longer capped at 60 FPS! The frame rate can now set in the "Video Settings" menu from 30 FPS all the way up to being uncapped!
  • Added a new loading screen! This one is more colorful and fits the existing UI better.
  • Added a new finalized "Episode Summary" screen! This now has the proper interface, along with new music!
  • Applied some degree multi-threading to dynamic lights. This may optimize projectiles slightly for those with multiple CPU cores.
  • The gamepad can now be used in the menus, even if the "Enable Gamepad" setting is set to "No".
  • Removed some unused particle graphics and fixed the resolution of some other images. Hopefully this will prevent issues related to running out of memory.
  • Reduced memory usage on the game's sound effects.
  • Added a display indicating which button should be pressed to execute a finisher once they become available. This display goes away once the player has executed 3 finishers.
  • Added confirmation menus when picking Cakewalk, Hardcore, and BS! elaborating on key features of the skill settings.
  • The title screen Final Boss Entertainment logo is now displayed in a letterboxed mode if the resolution is non-16:9. The graphic has also been altered so that the logo is slightly larger.
  • Wrack now disables use of the Windows key.
  • Tweaked the position of some of the HUD elements so they don't overlap.
  • Removed a duplicate face on E1L2.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to use the escape key to exit out of certain menus this was supposed to be forbidden for.
  • Fixed the size of the railgunner gibs.
  • Music now fades out when returning to the title screen after a quicksave.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented main menu selection cycling when holding down the arrow keys.

Thanks everyone! Hope you enjoy it.

Version 1.1.2 Released

Hey there!

Another quick update for you today. This one contains one fix and one addition. Here they are:
  • The mouse can now be used to highlight the left/right menu item arrows in the menu. When clicked, the menu item increments/decrements based on which arrow is highlighted.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the summary total possible kills/treasures/secrets to be inaccurate after going to the secret level.

To my knowledge, that fixes the last of the bugs, but if there are others (or older ones continue to persist), be sure to let us know in the discussion group.

More substantial content soon.

Thanks!

Version 1.1.1 Released

Hello everyone!

We've put out a quick update to fix a crash that would occur when restoring quicksaves from v1.0.0. This should also fix any quicksave-related issues going forward.

If your quicksave crashes when you try to restore it, you can fix it with these steps:
  • Bring down the console (~) key.
  • Type "save_100fix 1" and press enter.
  • Close the console and restore your quicksave.

The quicksave should now restore properly. At this point, we recommend quicksaving again to ensure that the save file uses the new format.

Thank you!
