Devlog #14: The Blood Mask: True Power – June 11th, 2025
[p]Hi, Gamers!
Tina here—Social Media Expert and Host at RolldBox Games. Today, I’m chatting with Cris, the Art Director of the studio at RolldBox Games and Ferran, one of our Co-Founders, as well as the Game Designer and Creative Director of the studio at RolldBox Games 👋
We're revealing more and more about how we created Masks of the Void. [/p][p][/p][p]We're super excited for the day you'll experience it fully and feel the raw power of Iret through each of the different masks. At the core of the game lies telekinesis, in all its forms.[/p][p][/p][p]Want to dive deeper? Here’s another Devlog with more behind-the-scenes insight.
[/p]
Inside the Development Process
[p]
We shared some details about the Blood Mask in our last Devlog, and now we want to take you deeper into how we came up with it:[/p][p]From both the Art and Game Design sides, our goal with all the masks is to convey strength, power, and intensity.
According to our Technical Artist, one constant throughout development has been playing with highly distinctive visual effects to represent each mask, while also searching for what we’d call “middle grounds” to keep the whole product visually coherent.[/p][p][/p][p]For example, when it came to the capes, it was all about balancing things like secondary effects, flipbook speed, and emissive values to tie everything together smoothly.[/p][p]
[/p][p]From a gameplay perspective, our Game Designer explains that with the Blood Mask, we focused on the idea of a whirlwind of chaos. 🌪️[/p][p][/p][p]We wanted a way to control objects "automatically", in a way that lets players feel the brawler/warrior archetype: unafraid to get up close, dishing out strong area damage, but needing a bit more time to deal with specific enemies.[/p][p]
[/p][p]🔹 The Blood Mask gives you the tools to dive straight into the heart of combat — and grow stronger the more damage you take.[/p][p]In scenarios with lots of weak enemies, this mask is ideal.[/p][p][/p]
![]()
Sneak Peek of Upcoming Content
[p]Speaking of masks... Let’s take a look at what the Light Mask can do.[/p][p][/p][p]It’ll be available in the full version of the game — coming very, very soon![/p][p][/p][p]You’ll get to enjoy it as much as your creativity allows.[/p][p][/p][p]Why? Because once you try it, you’ll see everything you can pull together with this power.[/p][p]That’s all we’re saying for now, catch us in the next Devlog for a first sneak peek![/p][p]
🔹 Meanwhile, we're showing off this awesome poster our Art Team made — again, because it just looks too cool not to!
