Capcom ditches Resident Evil 4 Remake's new, performance-choking DRM

If you want to enjoy the majority of Capcom's latest games on Steam, Denuvo DRM is a piece of baggage you will have to live with. Monster Hunter Wilds, Street Fighter 6, Resident Evil Requiem - all of them use it, and upcoming sci-fi game Pragmata will as well. Strangely, despite its widespread use of Denuvo, Capcom decided last month that for its excellent Resident Evil 4 Remake it would switch DRM software to something called Enigma Protector. However, just 28 days later, it's thrown Enigma out, following reports of performance issues.

Before Requiem, grab the brilliant Resident Evil 4 remake at its cheapest price ever

As someone who loves the entirety of Capcom's beloved survival horror series (I even played the VR version of the fourth game), I'd say the Resident Evil 4 remake isn't just a revitalization of a horror classic, but an improvement on one of the most groundbreaking games ever made. However, the dreary atmosphere of the original has lost some of its fear factor, not only because of its action focus but also because of its older visuals. Fortunately, the remake brings it back into the modern era, bringing one of the best horror games back to its full glory, and you can score a copy at its cheapest price - right before Requiem finally launches.

Resident Evil 9 may have been teased in a new RE4 video, and players are having totally normal reactions to it: 'Together at last, like ice cream and pizza'

Resident Evil 4 Remake is one of the best in the series, and now super cheap

In the seven or eight hours it takes to complete the original Resident Evil 4, you will find more imagination, variety, and creative ambition than in any days-long open-world game. The mechanics are simple. The gunplay is clean. But it moves, with great energy and pace, from one visionary set piece to another. Resident Evil 9 is presumably in the pipeline. A remake of Code Veronica also seems possible. But if you're craving more RE and you've already dusted the superlative original Resident Evil 4 dozens of times, the remake is also an absolute blast. The 2005 game will always win out, but especially now that it's super cheap, the new Resident Evil 4 is a fantastic companion piece.

Some of the best Resident Evil games are 75% off, for a weird reason

When the Resident Evil 4 Remake came out last year, it enjoyed pretty much the same level of success as the original all those years ago. If you still haven't had a chance to play it, it's currently available at a 25% discount at Humble Bundle, and many of the other games in the series are up to 75% off - but the reason for the discount is kind of bizarre.
