Turn-based strategy game Bonaparte wants to redo the French Revolution, but this time with mechs

Everything I know about the French Revolution has hitherto come from two literary works: Hilary Mantel's excellent doorstopper A Place Of Greater Safety, and Kate Beaton's webcomics. Neither Mantel nor Beaton mention mechs, which are a core feature of Studio Imugi's new "ideology driven" turn-based strategy game Bonaparte: A Mechanized Revolution. I, for one, feel like I've been grossly ill-informed. Announcing Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution

Today we are super proud to reveal our debut title, Bonaparte - A Mechanized Revolution, as part of the Gamescom "Find Your Next Game" showcase organized by Gamestar.

Rewrite history as you play as an alternate reimagining of the historical figure Bonaparte, and work to defend, overthrow or reform a collapsing monarchy in an alternate version of the French Revolution in this ideology-driven, turn-based, tactical / strategy mashup. Choose your ideals and take control of France by any means necessary, reshaping her future to match your vision. Joining the political fray in this adaptive alternate history game are famous historical characters and factions, creating a political theater in which tensions and conflicts never play out the same way.

The game features epic battles where gunpowder clashes with steam-powered mechs, known as Colossi, tense tactical turn-based combat rewards valor and cunning over brute strength. Bonaparte’s presentation of alternate history is accentuated by its unique approach to the strategy genre: mirroring the consequences of political action, players can see policy play out in real time on the battlefield.
