Mindform is going free

[p]Hi everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]Mindform is a climbing game about learning from failure.[/p][p]That idea doesn’t just apply to players.
It applies to us as developers too.[/p][p]We set out to create something meaningful. In the process, we made it too safe, too guided, and, if we’re honest, not fun enough.[/p][p]That’s on us.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If Mindform is truly about learning from mistakes, then we can’t pretend we didn’t make any. So instead of doubling down or explaining things away, we’re choosing to do what the game is about: admit failure, listen, and try again.[/p][p]We want to open Mindform to the community and rebuild it together. Not as a lesson, but as a better game.[/p][p]We don’t want to be stubborn.
We want to learn.
[/p][p]And we believe the best way to do that is to build this game in public, with people who deeply care about how games actually feel to play.[/p][p]We’ve been thinking about how to involve you more in this journey. Our initial idea was simple: open-source the whole thing.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]However, it turns out to be more complicated than we expected. Licensing restrictions from some of the packages and tools we used are a major obstacle, and resolving this will take more time than we anticipated.[/p][p]So while we figure that out, we want to take a step in the same spirit.[/p][p]We’re making Mindform free on all platforms where it is currently sold.[/p][p]This way, everyone can explore what we’ve built so far and get familiar with it as we work toward the future.[/p][p]That said, because of these licensing challenges, we can’t promise that a full open-source release will be possible. We would really appreciate your help and ideas on this, and we invite you to join the discussion on our Discord so we can work through it together.[/p][p]We want to make these changes as soon as possible. However, due to administrative processes on the different platforms, it may take several days or weeks before everything is fully in place. We appreciate your patience while we handle this.[/p][p]Our goal with all of this is simple:[/p][p]To help players, and ourselves, develop a growth mindset.[/p][p][/p][p]Sincerely,[/p][p]
