Physics Update falls into place

Hello everyone, I hope you've been continuing to enjoy The Spiral! A small update that adds dynamic physics to some props, plus adds a few new dungeon rooms, is now available. Sometimes it can be annoying to access items on top of tables and desks when chairs are in the way, so now chairs (and stools and buckets) can be moved out of the way by either pushing them or striking them with your weapon. I may add physics to more objects in the future, but for now I wanted to focus on the objects that really get in the way.
Changes in this update
• Added dynamic physics to chairs, stools, and buckets
 • Added 5 new dungeon rooms to the generator
 • Chairs and stools can now appear as random furniture
 • Added some furniture to the starting cell
 • Added buttons for feedback and links to socials on the title screen
Share your feedback!
Feedback has always been welcome through social media, the Steam community, and pretty much any way it can reach me, but now there's also a "Feedback" button on the main menu. It's not very fancy (just a Google Form, actually) but it's private and anonymous. Just another option if you're wondering how to reach out!

This update is live now, so please check it out! As always, thanks for supporting The Spiral, and I'll see you all again for the next update.

Little Treasures update is live now!

Hello everyone, I hope you've been enjoying The Spiral! A little content update focused on little items, aptly titled "Little Treasures," is now available. In addition to new weapons and potions, this update also introduces rings: stackable charms that provide passive effects like amulets, but you'll have to find a lot of them to make the most of their benefits.
New Content
• Added two new unique weapons: Mörksuggan and Rodent Bite
 • Added five new charms: Covetous Ring, Focus Ring, Numbing Ring, Swift Ring, and Vivacious Ring
 • Added two new potions: Fortified Potion and Leverage Potion

Other changes:
 • Drop rates have been adjusted so Legendary, Cursed, and Enchanted items spawn less frequently
 • The "I Ran" challenge now additionally starts you with 15 Swift Rings in your inventory
 • Fixed some inventory management bugs related to performing multiple actions in rapid succession

This update is already live, so go start a new run if you want to play around with the new items! As always, thanks for supporting The Spiral, and please look forward to more updates like this in the future.

Update 10/13

Thanks for playing The Spiral. This is another small patch to fix a new round of issues. Also, if you didn't already know, The Spiral's original soundtrack is now on Steam!

 • Reduced the damage from the Bishop of Nihility's yellow projectiles so a single volley in the first phase is no longer fatal
 • Fixed rendering issues for Bantam Blitz, Elemental Staff, Hemotaph, Lodestone, and Ceremonial Halberd when using a custom FOV
 • Fixed the "transfer perk" button being shown without a perk selected in the perk transfer menus
 • Fixed being able to move items into the inventory of the Statue of Omens by using "quick transfer"
 • Fixed some items dropping with redundant perks (e.g. Elemental Staff dropping with both "Ice Affinity" and "Phase XI")

Update 10/8

Hello all, this is a small patch to fix a few issues.

 • Fixed some odd behaviors when picking up an item twice in a row with interaction speed set to "Instant"
 • Fixed first-person weapon models not using the FOV set in Options
 • Fixed some controller focus issues when opening a chest, pausing, and then alt+tabbing
 • Fixed some ceiling holes in one of the rooms

Update 10/2

Thanks for playing The Spiral. This update adds a new interactable statue, adds a DirectX 12 launch option on Windows, adjusts one of the longer boss fights, and fixes some bugs.

 • Added the "Statue of Reinvention," which allows you to reroll your items' perks using great rune stones
 • During the "Shadow of Abaddon" warden fight, the number of lit torches per phase has increased from 1 to 2, and the total number of phases has been reduced from 5 to 4
 • Great rune stones can now be stacked up to 3 times in a single inventory slot
 • Fixed shops spawning during the "Pure Massacre" challenge
 • When drawing cards from the Statue of Omens, fixed the Strength card dropping resources instead of weapons
 • Fixed controller navigation issues with the Statue of Temptation's interface
 • Fixed items spawned during boss rush challenges counting towards the statistics in Collection
 • Fixed dropped maps showing the wrong floor after moving between floors
 • On Windows, added a launch option to use DirectX 12 instead of Vulkan for rendering
A Note on DirectX 12
As noted above, there is now a launch option on Windows to use DirectX 12 instead of Vulkan. Vulkan is the recommended rendering backend for most users, but the DirectX 12 option is provided for users experiencing rendering issues on Vulkan (such as with certain AMD graphics cards). Additionally the game can sometimes crash with Vulkan while using OBS due to an issue with OBS's game capture, in which case DirectX 12 might be more stable. (There are no known issues using window capture with Vulkan.)
