Save the Villainess: An Otome Isekai Roleplaying Game News

Join Save the Villainess' Kickstarter Pre-Launch!

Dear Villains and Villainesses:

This is Tanya and Emily, the developers of Save the Villainess. We are thrilled to share an exciting piece of news with you…

We have decided to create a Kickstarter campaign to support Save the Villainess – and you can sign up for more info on our pre-launch page!

You can see our Kickstarter pre-campaign trailer below, if you don’t mind a glimpse of something special we have been hiding so far…

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Our Kickstarter campaign will launch soon along with new goodies. Beyond a revamped demo, we’ll offer several new ways to visit and learn more about Carcosa, the country where Save the Villainess takes place.

Who knows what secrets, suspects, and even potential lovers you might meet along the way…

We thought a lot about how to create the game we want to share with you, especially after the amazing support you have given our beta demo. We decided that Kickstarter is the way to help us create the best version of Save the Villainess possible. With your support, we can pay for new characters and settings to stage even more villainess-related shenanigans. We will be sharing more details on this as we work towards our public demo and the start of our campaign.

Thank you again and please sign up for the Kickstarter pre-campaign page. We appreciate your support!

Save the Villainess is in Steam's Lovecraftian Days Festival!

Save the Villainess is now a part of Steam's Lovecraftian Days festival!

Lovecraftian horror is about the terror of the unknown, of what is just out of sight, just beyond reach. The enemy is often beyond human comprehension or understanding… or focused on a battle with your own mind.

The creatures that do appear are alien and terrible beyond even what they physically show… the lurking shadows of dread.

In Save the Villainess, you will be coming to a perfectly normal House inhabited by perfectly normal… people with a perfectly normal set of experiences.

You need not fear the sounds you hear around you or the shifting of the wallpaper or the way everything is technically as the world should be but maybe not quite… right.

After all, you only have to do one small thing.

To avoid what is hiding beneath the surface of this world, all you need to do is Save the Villainess.

Simple enough, right?

Celebrating 5k Steam Wishlists & Int' Women's Day!

Dear Villains and Villainesses:

This is Tanya and Emily, the developers of Save the Villainess. We have so much fun news to share this month of March 2024! We might even tease an upcoming surprise… or two… or three…

We also want to remind you that our monthly company newsletter is going to go out on Friday. It will contain a chance to get fun and revealing character cards from our cast members that tell you more about the influential women in their lives. Please sign up to our mailing list for these post-cards!

First, we want to thank all our players for helping us reach 5,000 wishlists on Save the Villainess’ Steam page in 2 months. We could not have hit this major milestone without you!

To mark this milestone, we created a little video-skit featuring our villainess bantering with the Duke of the North. Please check it out on youtube!

Once again, we want to thank the amazing participants in our beta demo process for sharing their wonderful feedback with us.

Right now, we are working towards our public demo release, updating some of our assets and creating new sections on the demo for parts like Credits. We are also developing fun easter eggs based on tester feedback. The choices our beta testers made will affect the dialogue you get in the final version of the game!

Finally, we are planning to tie our public demo to some very exciting news we will share in April. We cannot wait to reveal more soon…

Our wonderful friend Dokiizutea recently created gorgeous Save the Villainess art. Take a look at a video of it here.

Hmmm, doesn’t it look as though it could be the cover of a novel? More on that to come…

March 8, 2024, was International Women’s Day and since we love women in general – and villainesses in particular – we tried to celebrate in style. You can see for yourself in this Youtube video.

If you sign up to our newsletter today, you can request cards from the Save the Villainess casts that tell you more about the most influential women in their lives. Our characters may even reveal a little more information than they mean to…

We hope you have a wonderful end to your March and a delightful beginning to your April. We will have much more news to share once April hits so please be on the look-out for those updates. They will be worth the wait!

Happy Valentine's Day & Beta Demo Update!

Hello Fellow Villainesses and Villains!

This is Tanya and Emily, the co-developers of Save the Villainess. We wanted to give you our monthly update - as well as important news about our beta demo test!

We also want to remind you that our monthly company newsletter is going to go out on Thursday. It will contain Valentine’s treats such as a chance to vote on our game’s summary and the opportunity to receive a special Valentine’s Day present from your favorite Save the Villainess character. Please sign up to our mailing list for these goodies!

Firstly, we want to update you on the results of our beta demo test, which we held at the end of January. We had an incredible number of people play the beta demo – sometimes multiple times – and then give us some amazing feedback.

We are delighted by the feedback we have received, especially from playtesters who were willing to play our demo multiple times to unlock so many secrets of our game. On our beta-tester-only discord, some of our amazing beta-testers even did let’s-plays of our demo and created a community-based google document to track clues and secrets from the demo and from marketing materials. You can also read our beta-tester Dulcito’s lovely tumblr post about her experiences with our demo.

We’re thrilled to know that our players are working hard to solve the mysteries of our game… though we promise that there are many more secrets, surprises, and mysteries to come.

(Our villainess promise is that all the major mysteries of the demo will be solved by the end of the game. Want to know why apples seem to be the only available food in our murderous manor… or how all of Jane’s would-be suitors found her so quickly… or even why a certain fellow in a top-hat seems to follow Jane around? All will be revealed in due time!)

Ultimately, Save the Villainess is the story of one woman’s struggle to survive and smile in the face of dread and danger… and without your support, it would be impossible to tell this story in a fully animated world that contains dozens of secrets, mysteries, twists, and endings. Thanks to your help, we’re finding new ways to optimize our game and make it an unforgettable experience.

Please keep following us for more information and fun surprises to come!

We also wanted to take this time to wish you all a happy Valentine’s day - one complete with cards from all the characters of Save the Villainess. To see our characters’ video messages and cards, please take a look at this Youtube video compilation!

If you are on our mailing list, you will get the chance to request an extra special Valentine’s day message from your favorite character… so if you haven’t joined already, please do so today to receive our monthly newsletter on Thursday, 2/29! All our potential murderers and one confused villainess are waiting to share their Valentine’s wishes with you!

Thanks again for your support, dear friends on Steam / Itch.io. We truly appreciate your help in making Save the Villainess a game that you can lose yourself – and perhaps even your villainess’ life! – in. We look forward to sharing more news with you next month!
