MUKKE: Music Machine News

MUKKE @STEAMNEXTFEST

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]It's been a while since we last updated you on the state of our beloved music game, MUKKE! [/p][p]A lot has happened over the last few months, and the project has undergone some changes in direction.

To give you an overview of our current plans:

MUKKE will be a more focused experience that emphasises its musical core. The narrative elements will guide players in learning and experimenting with the loop machine instead of forming the centrepiece of the game. There will be two modes: [/p][p][/p]
  • [p]in "Club" mode, players can create music completely freely with all tools unlocked. This is the quickest way to start creating music. [/p]
[p][/p]
  • [p]in "Platte" mode, players are introduced to the loop machine and all the musical tools the game offers through a narrative set-up and tutorial campaign. It also provides players with clear motivation in the form of quests and a music shop where they can unlock new instruments, customisation options, and tools. Through this shift in focus, we aim to make this cool and accessible music tool available to you and the gaming world as quickly as possible. [/p]
[p][/p][p]So: MUKKE is scheduled for release in March![/p][p][/p][p]In just a few weeks, you'll be able to play MUKKE on Steam! We hope you're as excited as we are about the final release of MUKKE — stay tuned for more updates![/p][p][/p][p]And that's not all:[/p][p]We're taking part in the Steam Next Fest, which has just started! If you'd like to help us create the best possible MUKKE experience, check out our new demo and let us know what you think! We're looking forward to it![/p][p] [/p][p]Here is a glimpse at the new MUKKE![/p][p]Thanks![/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Huge demo update!

Hey everyone!

We've been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a major demo update!
This will be a huge improvement on the last demo we released a year ago!

Here are some of the biggest updates

  • A first look at the character creator (wip, a lot of options still missing)
  • A lot of new instruments to unlock (>100)
  • A lot more in-depth music mechanics to unlock
  • 5 in-game days to experiment with the music gameplay

And not only that, we've also improved the visuals, especially the locations & user interface, and added a lot of new features that give the game more depth in general. We have also optimised the game for all play modes and given you a lot of quality of life options so you can play the game the way you want to!

So whether you've played the game before or you're new to the world of Mukke City, there's a lot to explore in this new update!

We hope you enjoy the new demo!
Give us all your feedback (even if we are slow with updates, we will read all your thoughts and try to improve the game so that everyone has a great experience playing it!) and if you like what you see/play, feel free to add the game to your wishlist and write a review on the demo steam page!

Bye!

New Trailer Drop & Update!

Hey folks!

It's time for a quick update! We've been busy launching our free demo on Steam and presenting this vertical slice at a few events around Germany.

We started our event journey in May with the ever-great A MAZE. in our hometown Berlin. Then we traveled across the country to the far west to be part of the Indie Game Fest in Cologne! It was great to see so many new faces and dip our toes into the NRW game scene. We also won our first prize, the CRITICS' CHOICE AWARD! What an honor!

Last weekend we were at the DOKOMI in Düsseldorf! So it's fair to say that we've been quite busy for the last months and it's been hard to keep our work rhythm between these events.

A big thank you to everyone who gave us their demo feedback & we've already made some updates! We've reworked the whole save system & worked on some bugs! We are considering posting a detailed patch note list, but due to all the events we have to check in on each other which updates already have been done!

We're currently discussing the (hopefully) final scope of the release version of MUKKE & planning the final steps. But we're getting there...

At least we finally managed to made a new trailer, 'cause the old one was way too... old. This new one shows a more up-to-date version & showcases all the different facets of the game we're dying to show you in the near future! It's going to be MASSIVE! Something the world has never seen before!(?)

So stay tuned! Thx for the support, don't forget to join our discord, follow our socials (down below) & wishlist the game!

And as a little MUKKE fan treat, there are also a few stickers that you can get! Shipping is currently only available in Germany.
It helps a lot!

Thx again & read u soon!
cheers paolo

MUKKE - The story-driven music game - DEVBLOG 02

Hey!
here’s paolo again, this time with a small pre-chorus for our next big chorus of a devblog! We are currently working on a playable demonstration of MUKKE, a demo you could say! A public demo, to be precise… so that everyone, but especially you, has the opportunity to try MUKKE for the first time! Exciting! But in the meantime, I’d like to share a little about the current state of the game and also about our small indie game collective so we’re all on the same page!

Let’s start with APETENSE because stories are always more exciting when you care about the people behind the thing you’re reading about!

We, APETENSE Interactive, are a small indie game collective based in East Berlin. We consist of three game designers who met at university and whose tastes in game development resonated quite well! The games we want to make shall be driven by creativity, not only in development but also for you to embrace. As we said in our first devblog, we believe that there is an inner longing for creativity and that games can channel this longing and act as a catalyst by providing you with enough satisfaction and motivation during the creation process to get ya to the point where creating is a joy and not a chore!

We are also three people with musical backgrounds in various ways, so producing music and sounds in any way is always an inspiration for everything we create!

We hope that our games can provide you with new experiences that can inspire you in many different ways! (or just entertain for more than 20 minutes… I think that’d also be a win for everyone!)

Here you will find a small overview of the current APEs:

joner is our technical lead! Between scripting and general problem-solving, he designs many of MUKKE’s game systems, mostly on paper! joner plays the violin, so notes on paper are good Friday night reading for him. He’s also dipped his toes into electronic music production, which we all have in common.

soup is our art & narrative lead! Creating vivid characters is one of his specialties and all of MUKKE’s likable folks have passed through his brain and hands. He plays various instruments and likes to fiddle around in DAWs.

paolo is our audio & ui lead! He loves it when audio & interfaces are not just an element to get right, but to experiment with fun & crazy ideas to give extra character to the game. He plays drums and is therefore more of a fan of musical reaction and interaction than music theory. So if you’re unsure whether you can make it as a music nooby in MUKKE, he’s on your side fighting the fight!

So that’s the current team!

We decided to call our little studio a collective because we value the autonomy of each team member in their creative endeavors and want to give everyone on the team their own space for creativity. We also want to collaborate with other people, be they voice actors/actresses, musicians, or in other fields of work, to get new impulses and create something new and inspiring!

State of MUKKE

Now let’s get down to business. MUKKE is currently on its way to a first public demonstration, very-much-probably as a free downloadable demo here on Steam! We plan to keep this demo running until release so that everyone can try it out for themselves and get an insight into the current state of development of MUKKE. We’re not far away from a [working] demo, but it will still be a few weeks to go, so be prepared to get updates very soon! The demo will show many facets of MUKKE, be it a sneak peek at story elements or the music production. And to our delight, it will be published in English as well as in German. Voice & text wise!

Here are a few teasers:

We’ve been working on a little intro to set the mood:

soup arranged the intro story beats and the first voice acting rehearsals! It's going to be fun!

We’re currently working on the tutorial and trying to find cool & immersive ways to get the controls & all the music across!

For more info, follow MUKKE here on Steam, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok or our website!

And if you’re super interested, wishlist MUKKE on Steam, we’d love to have you along for the ride!

Have a great, read u soon!
