Threshold review: put in the shift and you shall be... rewarded

My time with Threshold has been fraught with pain. Five times. Five times I had to restart this psychological horror game because of some game-breaking bug. And yet, I persevered, booting it back up and returning to my government-mandated shift atop a quiet mountain.

Ultimately, I gave Threshold chance after chance because I was totally taken by my shift and my immense desire to find out just what I was actually doing. Anyway, it's time for me to clock off! I urge you to take over until I'm back. It's worth it.

THRESHOLD — Coming Nov 19th
Greetings, clerks!
The Capital is on the line! We'll cut to the chase — THRESHOLD is releasing on November 19th. Enjoy this brand new trailer to provide you with a nice motivational boost.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

We eagerly await all newcomers to the Border Post. Starting Nov 19th, your duties will include:
 • Familiarizing yourselves with the Border Post layout;
 • Making sure the train passes the Border Post without any delays;
 • Conserving air supply and keeping the usage of oxygen canisters under strict management;
 • Cleaning water for the Capital
 • Serving your Country

Remember, under no circumstances can you wonder into the forbidden areas, try to uncover any state secrets or question what's in the train.

Also, don't forget, that the currently available demo serves as a prologue to the main game and features unique story. So definitely give it a go.

In other news, we've also found some concerning newspaper clippings — which, we suspect, might be used in some sort of shadowy campaign to undermine the effectiveness and stability of the Border Post.

If you see any examples of these while on your shift — be sure to contact your superiors and tell them about your findings.

News, Publisher and Localizations
Greetings, clerks!
The Capital is on the line! While you were loyally serving your country, we got a publisher - CRITICAL REFLEX.

Thanks in no small part to their efforts, the government expanded our budget to include more localizations, namely: German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish, Ukrainian, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Italian, Polish and Russian, as well as French translation made by yours truly.

To celebrate this important moment of our project’s history, I’ve prepared a new trailer. (Refusal to view can be considered a treason unless objective reasons are provided to local supervisor, see article 314b)

The government needs you to report any thoughts and opinions regarding your work at the border post. Thorough reports are encouraged and appreciated, it’s a solid proof of loyalty to your country.
(Questions regarding contents of the train and other state secrets will not be answered)

Don’t miss your chance to serve the state, apply for another government-assigned position of Poultry Prepper. Most of the time it’s dealing with eggs, sometimes - bacon, rarely - cigarettes and bullets. It’s a job like no other. See for yourself in Arctic Eggs!

Start a boring and stressful maintenance job in this former Arkane level designer's upcoming game

As a big fan of moody first-person games where you follow procedures to do a job, I'm quite interested in the recent announcement of Threshold. Made by a former Arkane level designer, it's about a train maintenance job at a border post atop the world's tallest mountain, where the air is so thin you need to huff top-ups from cans. Concrete information on Threshold is a bit thin at this point but I can tell you that you have a bucket and some planks, so what more do you need to know? Check out the announcement trailer, below.
