Greetings ladies, gentlemen, and any eldritch entities watching us from the void!

We are excited to see how many of you have heard the call and rushed to the mists of Kingsport since we've launched Stygian: Outer Gods into Early Access yesterday! And we've already gleamed valuable insight from watching you play from afar as well as reading your posts and reviews and chatting with those of you who have joined our Discord server. And we have already prepared and just released a remedy for several problems plaguing your nightmares, both serious and small.

The complete list of changes can be found below, but first, we would like to assure you that besides the removal of pesky bugs and addition of new areas, monsters, plot twists and mysteries into the game, improving its performance IS among our top priorities. We are already exploring several avenues of how to achieve this and make sure that your in-game experience is as smooth as possible. Alas, such is the nature of Early Access, that we needed to see how the game performs for more different settings on different machines than what we can ever hope to test ourselves, despite our best efforts. We therefore ask for a little more patience before you pass your judgment while we finish a performance patch that we are working on.

You see, all your feedback is beneficial and helps us in our endeavor to unleash the Stygian nightmares upon the world; however, if you share what troubles you with us in the form of a negative review, even if it is well-intentioned, it both hurts the game as well as impedes our ability to ask follow-up questions and investigate the problems more dilligently. In short, it makes it more difficult for us to improve the game and rectify the bad impression it has left on you. Therefore we implore you, if you see potential in our project and would like to see it grow, and even shape the form it takes, instead of sharing your woes through a negative review, come join us either in the Steam Discussions, or talk to us and your brethren players on our official Discord server - we will be forever grateful.

• Fix for the visual display of the injuries (pulsating icons).
  
• Fix of the disappearance of the boatman some people experienced.
  
• Fix of missing interaction after the release of the Shackled.
  
• Added "Speech" checks for quest with paintings, Bethan and the lighthouse keeper.
  
• The location of the kerosene lamp has been changed.
  
• Added visual effects for skill cards.
  
• The lockpicking check for the Safe Room door in the mines has been removed.
  
• Improved balancing of reactions and health for ghouls, making them more formidable.
  
• Added voiceover for Victoria, The Boatman and the Masked Servant.
  
• Various other minor fixes and changes.

As the veil between worlds grows thin, brave souls are now called to step into the unknown. Stygian: Outer Gods emerges from the void and enters Early Access, offering a glimpse into the madness that awaits.

The story doesn't end, it has only just begun. We are glad that we safely made it up to this part, which is largely thanks to you, our beloved community. Your participation in the Open Beta and your feedback were invaluable and we can't thank you enough for it. We would love to invite every single one of you to the Stygian: Outer Gods Discord where you can not only chat with other players, but also submit your videos, share your fan-art and, of course, report any bugs or issues you might encounter.

Throughout the Early Access period, we aim to add plenty of new content, such as additional locations, characters and quests, weapons, abilities, enemy types, and boss encounters. Besides that, we are planning to record more English voiceovers, and to expand localization to include French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese subtitles at full launch. If the development goes well, we might add the localizations even sooner, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

We will be monitoring the Steam forums regularly, so don't hesitate to share your thoughts here as well!

In order to salvage what was left of our sanity, we had to give in, there really was no other choice. The Stygian: Outer Gods Open Beta - in the form of a Steam Playtest - is now LIVE and is available for everyone to play until Monday, April 7. If you've requested access before, you will now have the "Stygian: Outer Gods Playtest" app in your Steam Library, ready to install and play - otherwise click the "Request Access" button now and you will receive it instantly.



This extended demo offers much more content than the one you may have experienced during the recent Steam Next Fest. You can explore a large part of the town of Kingsport, complete a first major quest of the main story as well as smaller side quests and get to try out and enjoy many of the game's mechanics and features - from exploration, stealth and combat to crafting, improving your abilities, engaging in dialogues with a varied cast of characters, learning some of the game's lore, and much more! But please keep in mind that this is still not the final Early Access release version - there will be significantly more content available when the game launches on April 14, and we are continuously working on improvements, including performance.

And of course, we will be working on improving the game continuously throughout the Early Access period; but in order to make Stygian: Outer Gods the best game that it can be, we need to hear what you think, your suggestions, feedback and reports of any bugs or technical issues you encounter - that's why we have chosen to go the Early Access route after all. We will be reading all comments under this announcement as well as the Steam discussions, but the best way to get in touch is to join the official Discord server, where you can chat with us and other fans of the game directly!
