Dev Talk - QnA
Dear Survivors, this is NAKWON Governing Committee.
This Q&A list was written based on your questions on Discord.
Visit our official Discord and join the discussion.
Q. Are guns available during the Pre-Alpha?
A. You can acquire revolvers and use them in the Pre-Alpha Test.
Q. I am curious about the benefits that come with higher Citizen Classes.
You have mentioned that although there are benefits like gaining authority, it will not be in the form that restricts other players.
Does this mean that no player can influence other players in lower ranks?

A. There will be no feature related to Citizen Class that will allow players to influence other lower-class players.
You can unlock various elements by climbing up the Class ladder.
 • Unlock different Shops
 • Craft more advanced makeshift armor
 • Various events happen
We will add more things to be unlocked in the future, such as Housing or Skills.
Q. Is stealth attacking limited to Zombies only?
There were only scenes of stealth-attacking Zombies in the trailer, but I'm curious if we can do the same to other players as well.

A. Stealth-attacking players are not available.
The possibility of dying so easily at the hands of others, coupled with the nature of the game where death results in losing possessions, can be quite unpleasant.
Therefore, if a player intends to kill another player, the current direction is to allow for prior awareness or preparation and to make the process lengthy and precarious.

However, you will have an advantage if you can silently creep up on a different player and strike their head first.
If anyone attacks me in this way, I fend them off as best as I can, escape, and hide.
Q. How is the concept of time calculated in this game?
Does one game count for a day?
If so, would I be able to play with a friend who is not on the same in-game amount of days as I am?

A. Yes, one session of Scouting will count for one day.
The amount of days passed in-game does not matter when playing with other users.
Q. Will there be any pets in this game?
Having a pet such as a trained dog could add more interesting features to the game.
Maybe you could think of other features, and I'm not saying that the scouters should have a pet at the beginning of the survival, but maybe they could acquire it once they reach a certain level.

A. A pet would be nice, but I don't think it would be easy to implement, so it probably won't happen, or it will be quite a while before it does.

If it's a game with only PvE elements, you can make AI pets accordingly, but as our game has PvP elements, strict standards for balance and bugs of AI that help specific players are needed.
We also wanted to include pets from the beginning, but we are not thinking of it at this moment because of the difficulty of development, and even if we develop it later, we think it will take a very long time.
Q. Can we play from overseas?
Or if we are in a closer foreign country and if the ping is alright, would we be able to play?

A. This is a global open test.
There is no limitation to which countries can join, but depending on where you are if the ping is low, there could be difficulties in accessing or playing the game.
We would have to go through multiple FGTs(Focus Group Test) to correctly assess this situation, but as this is our first test we believe we will know more afterward.
Q. How will the servers be split?
Is it going to be specific servers for regions of Asia, or is Asia just going to be one whole server?

A. I can't tell you the details but for this test, the Asian region will be divided into 3 in terms of servers.
The number and composition of the servers are subject to change.
Q. I could see a bat and revolver in the videos released so far, but I am curious to know if I can use different weapons during the test.
I also want to know if I can stick nails in the baseball bat.

A. There aren't a lot of weapons yet, but we have a little over 10 weapons ready to use.
Please check our previous post for the categories and characteristics of each weapon.
#Guide on Basic Movement for Survivors

Baseball bats with nails stuck to them are sold at the market as well.
The reason the basic baseball bat is seen so often in the videos is because for some reason I only seem to use that weapon.
Q. Would a 'pay to win' model be introduced to this game?
A. It will not.
I believe that it would do more harm than good to introduce such a model to a PvP game like ours.
Q. Would there be seasonal events such as April Fools, Halloween, Christmas, etc?
A. We are still in very early stages so there are no specific outlines for this yet.
However, if the game is received well, I don't see why not we wouldn't prepare such events as many other games do.
We'll try our best to create an enjoyable game so we can get to that point.
Q. An in-game mic would make it easier to cooperate with other players.
Would teaming, or luring players out to take them out be banned within the game?

A. There is no mic, for now there is almost no way for players to interact within the game. (you can sit, stand, and move your head about by moving the mouse)

While I do not agree with teaming, I also question if there really will be a way to stop it from happening fundamentally.
Due to the nature of this game which is 'free for all', it becomes easier for people to scheme together.

We plan to differentiate the matching pool depending on whether it is solo or duo (however we do not anticipate many people to join the test this time around, so we did not divide between the two), and in case there are people who team up, we are trying to provide various ways for the other players to evade those people.

Even now during our internal playtest, some people tried to come kill me so I had to play hide and seek on a whole block.
I ran through the alley, twisted around here and there, hid, used zombies to my advantage, pretended to go towards the Public Escape Route, and hid in the corner.
After I lost them, I went back to where I came from and used my Personal Escape Route to escape.

As much as the map is open with small openings and paths, and has many options for escape routes, there are various ways to run away from other players as well.
Q. If a player is downed can a different player come pick them up?
During single-player, I think it would be quite fun if we could revive another player.

A. There is no 'downed' effect.
If the HP gets to 0 you are automatically out.
We did consider it, but the possibility of a stranger coming to revive you when you are down is close to none, and we thought it would be weird if Zombies do not attack a downed person, so we decided to leave it out.
Q. Question about the range of freedom
How much freedom do we have in the game, when you say that the game will be based on realistic interaction?
I believe that in games like NAKWON, as much freedom as possible should be ensured during Scouting so that trading items or betraying other players is possible.
I hope there could be more variables to encountering other players apart from the notion that 'other players = a box that provides resources when defeated'.

A. There is no interaction available with others within the game yet.
Special interaction like chatting, trading, or healing is not implemented yet.

I do agree with users needing a lot of freedom, but I am not sure if we would make it an in-game system.
Although you can trade by dropping items on the ground, having a trade window pop up is a whole different thing.
For now, I can say that although we will allow freedom, to make it an in-game system has to be considered.
